Iâm still holding out hope that they will do more after botw2 gets released. I figure that it got delayed (Covid) and the plan was to release Skyward Sword and tie it into botw2 then release more stuff afterwards, but now their scheduling is all screwed up.

Honestly I feel like this cross over was just written in the stars from the beginning. Austin and wood are 2 of the biggest Zelda fans on CZcams I know and it's so nice to see them just geeking out on the game commercials and comparing their collections.

It's a 25-minute Zelda Direct for the anniversary, this is what I'll tell my kids this is.
I beat Zelda 2 on NES and 3DS. The trick I learnt from my older brother then was not to insert any crystals at the end of each dungeon until you were 8 levels away from max level (att 5, heart 5, magic 6 or any mixture of those levels) since each crystal leveled you to the next available level. 30 years later I still remember this hack

Mario's character design never appealed to me, even when I was a kid. Why would I want to play as a short, fat Italian plumber when I could play as a super fast hedgehog, a snarky purple dragon, a blue bomber, a weird racoon alien with a robot friend, or a big monke?
I canât say I enjoy one more than the other personally. Theyâre different genres that deliver completely different experiences, so really just depends which Iâm after at the moment.
I hope since they didnât do anything for the 35th birthday they do something for the 40th.

@@FlamingZelda3 lol, I don't expect anything from Nintendo. They did something for the 35th Mario anniversary but never said that they would do something for the 35th of Zelda. If you think about it the 35th anniversary is not usually when they would do a celebration. There's nothing abusive about a company not celebrating an anniversary. If you don't like their company or games buy xbox or playstation and boycott nintendo.

Anyone mention the fire emblem got for its 30th anniversary just a limited edition of the first game that sold out eminently and the first game localized for frickn 4 months until it went out of the e Shop forever...yes it isn't even close to being as big as Mario or Zelda, but it's still known and it's its 30th and not 35 anniversary (rounder number).
I still REALLY donât get why Nintendo decided to axe 2020âs anniversary celebrations in March. Making the G&W and physical release of 3D All-Stars limited production is whatever and even killing Mario 35 isnât that big a deal, but I canât fathom as to why they took 3D All-Stars and Shadow Dragon off the eShop. Like whatâs the benefit of that? Being on the eShop means they donât have to do any production and still get paid so their decision to take them off still perplexes me. Especially since, before, you couldâve made the argument that theyâd replace it with new anniversary goodies, but now we know they arenât doing anything for any other game anniversaries, so really whatâs the point?
I suppose anything except pokemon will not have a celebration nearly as big as Mario.

...with save states on the Wii U. BUT! It's actually a super fun game once you remove the brutal punishment for dying. If you just drop a save state every few minutes so you can try again without repeating 90 minutes of gameplay, it's a great time! Highly recommend it on the NES Switch app so you can just rewind if something awful happens.
I always hated that. You could get all the way to the end and if you died, you had to start all the way at the beginning castle where zelda was sleeping. You didn't have to play the entire game over, it saved your progress, but it just sucked working your way all the way back to the last castle, cause everytime you got there, you'd be damn near... "Unalive," again. I never knew there was a save progress thing for the Wii.
Even the Gamecube version didn't have that yet.

The board game the old japanese men were playing is called "Go" and the board it's played on is called a go-ban (you'll get better search results for go-ban than just go)
Yeah! And there's a web page called "the interactive way to go" that teaches you the rules and gets you ready to properly play either with friends, or through an online server like IGS (international go server). It's an incredible game!
There's also a sick manga/anime based on it called "Hikaru no go" definitely a personal favorite.
"Go-ban" is literally just "Go board" or "Go grid."

My mom is a huge Zelda fan (as mentioned in another comment) but had trouble playing Skyward Sword. She got as far as she could between dungeons but had me beat them when I visited home from college.
And this lady beat Linkâs Awakening without dying once just to see Marin fly around in the end credits for a few seconds.

I would like to mention here the very heartfelt Zelda commercials featuring Robin Williams and her daughter Zelda Williams, named after the princess. They made a short series of those for Ocarina of Time 3D, Four Swords Adventures 25th Anniversary Edition and Skyward Sword, back in 2011. They have a bittersweet flavour now, of course, but they certainly are treasures for the books.

Originally they showed a life like zelda trailer of him versus a spider, then they turned it into Wind Waker. So many people was pissed at the time. Due to that backlash they answered with Twilight Princess.
It was Link vs Ganondorf tech demo that became Wind Waker, the Link vs Spider was a tech demo for Wii U.
You know windwaker should have released on the Wii instead because you know(family console) and twilight princess should have came out on GameCube(I know it did)

@@lyianx But itâs arguably the most important Nintendo franchise. From Donkey Kong spawned Mario. Then, as the antithesis of Mario, Zelda came out. Also, Donkey Kong was Nintendoâs first real foray into video games, or at least their first really successful one. If anything, it just seems like maybe it would be one of those nostalgia-baiting things Nintendo likes to do.

I didn't beat Zelda 2... I got to the second dungeon, then kept dying and respawning over and over again. It was agony... but I still like the game.
There's a cool Spirit Tracks commercial where a guy gets on a subway train and it turns into a train heading towards Hyrule.
There's just not enough Like Button for the homebrew commercials at the end... that was great, Wood and PBG!
