    I remember this specific EDD. I played this EDD when I was first started playing haz 5 missions and I recall this one being the hardest EDD I had to do. I failed this one 3 times(4 if you count me dc'ing at the beginning of one) and the winning attempt, my team barely made it out thanks to our scout who barely pulled through and escaped on his own. This feels weird seeing this EDD once again in a random video that ended up in my recommendations but it brought some fond memories. Devil's Shaft was certainly a name I would have describe this EDD back then though I imagine I'd be able to do this one just fine now on my own after so long.

    I love all your uploads, but this one is something special! Seriously great stuff.
    Any tips for clipping in through the molly side of the drop pod? I can do the ramp skip and from underneath virtually 100% consistently, but if I'm too late to pull those off I find my success rate coming in from the side to be unreasonably sketchy. I see you tend to always get it (well, at least on the vids that make it up onto youtube) and I've been wondering for a while now if there were any tricks to it so that I could up my success rate!
    * Do you look in a certain direction while doing it?
    * Is that direction based on map orientation (e.g. look 60 degrees north lol) or based on how the actual pod falls?
    * How much does the pitch of your head matter (do you look up or down or parallel to floor while doing it?)
    * Any tips to the keyboard presses too here would be much appreciated: I'm curious about how quickly you're pressing space - is it raw spam or is it more rythmic? And I guess if there's anything special to your WASD here as well, I'd love to hear it!
    * Are these things you've worked out - "try the same strat over and over until it works" or is it just a free for all "try a bunch of different shit until something happens" sort of deal?
    * ...and I guess the main one: How consistent do you find this skip? Like, is it a "100% of the time" sorta deal? Because if I were to reckon my own success rate on the side skip I'd say it's like flipping a coin for me. Some days I hit every one, and then there are days where I miss every time and struggle there until molly arrives (and then her rising inside at least forces me in 100%).
    Hope you don't mind the wall of questions :) I've been meaning to ask specifics on this skip for a few months now! (Side note: a smaller commentated video with just footage of drop pod skips w/ instructional commentary would be super useful I think!)
    Cheers mate, thanks for the videos!

      @benicopter  Před 11 měsíci +4

      Hey thanks for the kind words! Clipping from the bottom has a much much higher success rate, so I always try to do that first.
      As far as clipping from the top, I’ve heard that anything less than 60FPS will make it near impossible to do successfully, although I haven’t tried this. In my personal experience, when the drop pod (for extraction) lands in the original spawn room, I have a MUCH harder time getting a good clip in from the top. That’s what I’m referencing in this video after stage 1. Not sure why, but I’ve always experienced difficulty.
      Aside from that, I have a fairly high success rate for top clipping. I don’t pay attention to angles or anything. I just jump to the same ledge every time and face the drop pod (some people turn around with their back to the pod and have success, I don’t do this though).
      I tend to hold the W key (forward) and press jump. I don’t spam it really, I would say it’s more rhythmic, pressing jump again once I land (if I don’t clip in and am still on the ledge). I’ll occasionally tap A and D as well, but W and jump is the most important.
      I’ve thought about doing a video that shows key-mapping as well, however, I’m scared that the more exposure this gets will inevitably lead to the devs patching it

      I really appreciate the indepth response!
      > less than 60FPS will make it near impossible
      DRG is pay to win confirmed??!? Haha. As a certified potato pc user, I've definitely had more than my share of low framerate extracts and honestly that could be part of the bulk of my troubles for real. I know the game has framerate dependent flamethrower mechanics for example, but I never really thought about how frames might affect movement tech as well - and honestly that makes a lot of sense.
      > some people turn around with their back to the pod
      FWIW: I've had this go okay for me sometimes too, usually after failing attempts to go straight in from the front haha. I think it's still inconsistent though, and it really could just be down to framerate (and perhaps different frames based on facing a different direction)! It's definitely one of those things that has messed with my head and given me temptations towards crazy conspiracy theories like "always look towards angle x", but those are just silly wannabe urban myths I've made to cope hahaha (and I've never believed them for a second).
      > W and jump is the most important
      Thanks for the keypress breakdown! It's one of those things that is kinda hard to tell what's going on in video form, so it always felt like guesswork and I never knew if I was missing any invisible strafes or anything like that lol.
      Definitely agree with the exposure argument as a reason to not make a video on it, and I didn't consider that originally. Not gonna lie, you've tempted me to do some statistical analysis on all my droppod skip attempts now in total nerd-out spreadsheet form to see if I could help figure out anything further.
      Thanks for the videos and this great response again - I really appreciate it!

    *sighs happily and settles in to listen to it all* So much lovely stuff to process. I love your lowkey style and the depth of commentary thru all of this, everything from the pathing to the chaos management and all the things that are on your mind while you're in the midst of it. I like knowing why you're doing the things that aren't commonly done, as well as your decision processes for how you want to save time. I admire that you do talk about where you could do better, especially when you're finishing an EDD in an astonishingly small amount of time.
    I really liked that you call out the annoyances as well.
    My one question is on Stage 2, how do you know where to be to get the drop pod to drop where you want? Is it just that if you go the furthest distance from the original drop that the drop pod will land closer? Or is it if you're at the bottom that it will always drop at the beginning?
    This was very enjoyable, thanks so much for letting us all learn from your experience, and I hope you do more of these as you're able.

    • @benicopter
      @benicopter  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thank you! I appreciate the kind words, as always.
      And for stage 2, I just tested it by going into Sandbox mode and experimented pressing the button in different locations. I know there is a max range the drop pod will land. If you've ever done a 400 Morkite mission you've probably experienced this, as the cave systems are extremely long and the drop pod usually lands in the middle of the map.

    Nice. In the future on the way down in the pod, pause the game and show your loadout in the pause menu for like 3 seconds. That way we can see it at start, instead of at fin, with basically now time loss. Bonus in multiplayer games to boot simply because the start menu doesn't pause it then.

    I really enjoyed your commentary. It made the video a lot easier to digest for me. I have two small questions about your build: why did you pick ssg over other nades? And why did you take t5c on bc over t5b?

    • @benicopter
      @benicopter  Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks! I went with SSG because I like the 'hands off' approach. With the other nades you have to be deliberate with your placement, so it allows me one less thing to worry about. And are you talking about my choosing of 'triple split line' over 'plasma trail'? If so, I've just always used triple split line and like it. With plasma trail I'd be worried it would do additional damage to the Hivegaurd and make it go into the next armor phase before the resupply landing.

    • @Marian_DRG
      @Marian_DRG Před 11 měsíci

      @@benicopter plasma trail ruining the hive guard setup is a valid point. SSGs are definitely very easy to use. For elims however I like to use proxys because they make the hiveguard easier. If he stands in 2 of them while his 3 weakpoints are visible, they do enough damage to complete that for you. Maybe a bit finicky but worth it imo.
