Bought the Vaporfly because I couldn't find these in stock. First run set a PR and never felt like I was trying. So comfortable too! Sure enough, checked Nike site today out of curiosity and the Alphafly was back in stock. Immediately order them. I'm curious to try them back to back. I'll be rotating these two. I'm a heavy runner and not fast, but I really enjoy running in the vaporfly compared to all my daily trainers. They felt like I got a horsepower boost.
what does the flying saucer heels on these types of shoes offer? or is it just a terribly heinous design and that’s it.

Wear Asics usually half size up in daily trainers and race shoe. Have a decent amount of space. Would I need to size up from my normal shoe size of 8 to 8.5 in these?

So glad Nike are making wider comfier shoes. The Vaporfly 2 were killing my feet and there was no way I was going back to such a narrow shoe. Alphafly Next % was better but I'm excited for the Alphafly 3. If they're as nice on every level people say they are I'll probably get 3 pairs.
Doc you need to review the wave rebellion pro 2 from mizuno! It would be super interesting to see this shoe cut in half!

Yes. The fit of this one is the standout feature of this version. I'm a US 10 in this one as compared to the 2nd version where I am a US 11. Snug and comfortable for me.

As a fat dude who can actually jog…this are the best shoes, they are very easy in my ankles and knees, I have flat feet so I thought they weren’t going to fit me properly but nope I was wrong. My only complaint has to be that they stained too easy

Why is every single place that I check is sold out of the alpha fly 3?
I see you mentioned several times that it’s meant for elite runners. So, would you say it’s not a good choice for an average runner attempting their first marathon? I’ve been using Vaporflys 1 and I love them but they are all worn out now. So, I was wondering if these would be a good choice for me or should I go for the latest Vaporflys? Any recommendations?
Elite runners get them for free so I doubt it.

The heel is huge. The forefoot is just much bigger so it looks silly

Do what I did, take a full season to change your mechanics. Lots of sprint drills work perfect to learn to forefoot strike.
I have the AF1, AF2 & I finally got hold of these AF3 I did go and do a 19 km run in them the other day to break them in

I am about 238 LBS, do you think these are not durable enough for someone like me?
For heavier runners, shoes like the Endorphin Pro 4 and Adios Pro 3 might be better as they have better durability than ZoomX, especially Adidas, with their Lightstrike Pro. But its all preference and how the shoe works for each person.

Must admit I winced a little watching you take a knife to them
Ahhh, the review I've been waiting for. Can you explain why these are the only super shoe to load my Achilles' a great deal more... it's not the stack height, a lot of them are 40 mm. My left Achilles is getting torn up for days after sprinting/5kish paces. I suspect it's something in the carbon plate construction forcing me up on my toes, but the Vaporfly's do that as well and no issues.
I might just go with the Endorphin Pro 4 for the marathon, they seem to be the most comfortable for me without having to worry in the back of my mind about my Achilles.

If you're a heavier runner. Go with the New Balance. when you start putting mileage on these, they fall apart.

I've been running with the adidas prime x and the prime x2. Then I tried this pair and it felt like running with flat tires😂 weird

I don't think this shoe is going to be bad for all heel strikers. The heel bevel allows for a smooth transition. The heel is not as squishy as the forefoot. Also, most people who heel strike don't heel strike at the angle demonstrated (with the shoe off the foot), so the cutout in the back won't cause you to lead backward. This shoe is designed for running fast. So maybe if you are heavy, heel strike, and have a 5k-marathon pace that is too slow to benefit from this shoe then this shoe might be a waste of money.

That is absolutely uncomfortable shoe by that standpoint. Sure the impact protection is insane but leg comfort will not gurantee the leg muscles to support fully due to its unstable design. That is way too high and very narrow width of shoes upper that it will cause to have possible ankle roll

This shoe was cut in half for scientific purposes not just for fun, be more mature instead of in your emotions.
And more importantly this knowledge can be used for advanced runners seeking to buy this shoe.
You should probably care more about how China and other parts of the world pollutes with their plastic and chemicals and how they get away with it, that’s where your emotional powers can be handy 💪
