    I finally came to realize that the forward swing of a golf club is like that of a hockey swing yesterday. But, is that for all clubs, or only irons?

    Knew that the hockey slap shot concept helped. Now you have provided an excellent way to incorporate it with this drill of sequential progression. Key is at the end in getting rid of the tension and not holding on.

      @Milo Lines Golf to add.. I got where I could hit 3/4 shots split grip very well with 8 iron at PW distances. Watch the launch monitor angle and as I moved my lower hand up the grip tried to keep the launch angle about the same. Hitting more balls that way was great at making me feel hip squat at transition should feel like. It's a wow!

    The slight difference from a real hockey slapshot is we hold a super weak grip with the top hand, thus we learn to massive bow our lead wrist (otherwise the puck goes over the net), and secondly, the backswing is more verticle (like a Matt Wolff backswing), and then we reroute, like Wolff, at the top, and then take the slapshot from the inside - and we do it with an open stance (like Trevino) - and finally, like the modern Morikawa clubface, the stick is toe-down.

    Seems like a good winter inside drill to grain the pivot in! The pivot happens naturally. Do you recommend this drill for everyone or certain issues to solve over others?

    I’ve played ice hockey for 10+ years but when I started with golf I still early extension flipped. And I heave friends that don’t golf but are really good hockey players - when I take them to the range and tell them to just hit a slapper, they can’t do it. It’s weird but I think it’s a fear of hitting the ground. Also in hockey you hit the ice first then the puck

    • @michaeloja8589
      @michaeloja8589 Pƙed rokem +1

      Yes, being able to hit the ice first, and get away with it, is a big difference, but the movement patterns (getting the hands out in front) can translate to the golf shot.

    • @kennethkrantz9794
      @kennethkrantz9794 Pƙed rokem

      @@michaeloja8589 Yes, I agree. And just to be clear, I think this is a great drill and swing thought! My comment was just about my experience with hockey players not being able to swing a golf club the same way they “swing” a hockey stick.
