6rr😅
awesome-- going to the range tomorrow - will see if I can do this at 63
Hi Keen, I took this out on the course, at 79 yrs I've lost a lot of distance with longer clubs and had a 32 handicap. Decided to play the whole round limiting myself to this and only this swing. I only needed three weeks of one round a week to get down to 30 handicap. Very happy to have caught this video! I really works! Shot three very consistent rounds in the mid to low 90's. Go for it... @@keendeesjarlais3636
@keendeesjarlais3636 You can do it! I'm 61,have MS and had surgery on both shoulders and this keeps me going.
Phil Candi this! I’m 83 and do the drill most good days. Helps big time.
Just watched for the first time. and can't stop. The detail is outstanding. The exercises for weight shift and body turn from 9 to 3 set this video apart from so many others. Thank you - Just subscribed! Oh and I'm 76!
go to 4 min mark
4:00😊
Thanks for that you know exactly what we wanted
You dropped this 👑
God bless you!
Thank you.
I have been working on these positions even before I saw this video. Every position is correct, just be careful to not early-extend in the contact zone. You already set your left shoulder high at address and that is as far as you want to come back to and not raise your shoulders until the ball is off the club and going toward your intended target then you can stand up straight pointing the front of your belt-buckle at the target.
Chris, I'm brand new to the sub. Great video & instruction! You didn't just talk about it or explain it. You didn't even stop at showing it once or twice. You took the time to work through the progressions. Great stuff!
I like what I’m seeing in this video. I felt what it feels like to cover the ball and had some great ball striking rounds but haven’t been able to ingrain it. I’m hopeful this drill will help me figure it out instead of reverting back to my old bad habits which I tend to do.
Great, that’s the drill I was looking for. Can’t wait to do it on the practice range!
You're killin' Chris!!!! Congratulations AND thankyou.
I am so glad I found you. I love how you teach. Thank you for sharing!
Happy you found me and the channel as well. Thanks for joining us and wishing you much success with your game.
As I’ve said before on your channel Chris…..Working on the 9 to 3 position creates amazing results and will give you a consistent repeatable golf swing day in day out. Less effort, better results, and no more wasting energy on endless practice swings. Keep up the good work!
John, thank you so much for the endless support. I very much appreciate you.
finally, someone simplified this correctly!!! thank you!
this is very hopeful. I will go try it today. thank you
Great video.... good fundamentals to groove. I am working on very similar moves... I'll give your routine a try.... My keys right now are grip pressure, trailing elbow close to body and releasing club head with lag.... weight shift to leading side..... syncing it all up
Really straight forward and simple drill to practice and I can see why getting a camera and comparing those points can help, really helpful video Chris.
Video makes total sense. Can't wait to try it. Just subscribed.
Thanks for subbing. Happy to have you on the channel.
Chris, thank you for this! It was just what I needed after months of dubious success with shifting body weight, visualizing spots ahead of the ball, etc. :) I just got back from the range with a big grin. My 8 iron is now getting the distance my 7 iron was. I didn't even think about shifting my weight (much)... your exercise just made it happen. Nice sweet crisp shots.
Welcome back to the compression club!!!! I know the grin you’re talking about. Keep going and let me know if you need any further help along the way or if you have any questions. Should be an interesting Sunday in Augusta.
Excellent! Doing 50 reps of it drill. This simplifies and logically apply’s and eliminates so many confusing instructional video’s. It works! Successfully accomplished. Thank you
Chris, I recently stumbled onto this channel and I really like your instruction and delivery, and yes I be came a subscriber. I've watched quite a few of your other videos. My golf swing slowly unravelled this year and needs a re-build, I'm going to start your week 1-4 series. Thanks a lot for putting this stuff out there!
Have to have you on the channel Paul. Let me know if you have any questions along the way and I’ll do my best to help you. 2024 will be a better year on the course. Let’s go!!!
Excellent advise. Thank you
only video of yours that came up and i've watched it a number of times. quite a challenging drill, even a bit tiring to go through those motions slowly, like a calisthenic workout. good stuff.
Glad you found the video...making change is really hard and lots of work. Wishing you much success with the workout and the drill:)
Clear and concise instruction.
Just found your channel. Great drill, straight forward drill to work on on the range. This is the key to crisp iron play. Find a slow-mo of Lucas Glover hitting an iron shot and you’ll see this beautifully executed
Great advice, really helpful, thanks
Nice one. Thanks.
Dear Chris, thank you for providing such a clear and concise video. One of the best and most informative and clear I have seen. Greetings from South Africa and thanks for a great drill and checkpoints "Gods beautiful green earth ! :)"
Greetings from Florida. Thank you for the really nice comment. Happy to have you on the channel and wishing you much success with your game. Let me know if you have any questions at all.
One of the best explanations I’ve seen on setting up for correct compression of the golf ball.
Comments like this make the grind 110% worth it. Thank you for the support!!!
Hi Chris, I found this drill searching for something else but the title got me. I'm very inconsistent with my ball striking and am always looking for a drill to try to see if it can help me. I tried this drill in my kitchen and liked it so much I had to subscribe and can't wait to try this at the range. Thanks again!!!
So happy to have you on the channel and glad you were able to find some success with this drill. Thank you for the comment and don’t break anything in the kitchen while drilling. I speak from a minor amount of experience.
Thank you so much, Chris. I filmed my swing recently and realized there is absolutely no compression! Early release, balls flying high and relatively short (145 yards with a 6 iron). Seems like I have a lot of work ahead of me in wintertime.. Greetings from Switzerland Stefan
I wish more instructors had shown these amazing drills.I had Golf teachers but felt I was getting no where.I have started using this at the range and now find I'm compressing the ball so much better..much appreciated.
Welcome back to the Compression club! Thanks for watching:)
Really like this drill. Nice. Mauna Kea, lucky you.
I enjoyed this video. I think it speaks clearly to some of the difficulties I am having with my golf swing. I will put these drills into play before the season starts.
Glad you enjoyed the video!! Now, it’s time to get to work so you can hit the ground running when season starts. Good luck and play well.
Thanks! Great drill 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️
Love it
Great video! One of the most clear explanations of how best to feel compression. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you’ll join me for more in the future.
Love that sound. Need to get back home snd play
This drill is a game-changer, WOW!. Just absolutely fantastic. So well explained. Thank you for this. This is what I need to reach the 70's again. I've hit the subscribe and Like.
Thank you so much for the sub and glad to have you as part of the channel. Wishing you much success with this drill and hope to help you more in the future.
Thanks!
Ty
Love the golf drill. Can't wait to try it out.
That makes me very happy to hear. Good luck and wishing you much success with the drill.
Many thanks Chris! I am finally flushing my wedges and short irons again on the course. I use this drill in my warm up and it sets me up to correctly compress the ball and not early release. Have already seen it in my ball striking and scores. Still working on getting this into my mid-long irons, but getting better contact with my driver too. Thank you!
Absolutely love to hear this!!! Hitting the ball out of the button always is addicting and helps build some confidence in what you’re working on. Thank you for watching and the comment. Hope you come back and join me for in the future.
Well done Chris cracking video, keep compressing it.
Thank you so much good sir!
This absolutely works. It’s why all of my punch shots from the trees are some of my best strikes. It’s also why I’ll sometimes hit half wedge shots long, because of so much compression.
Thanks for the video. Great tip and well explained. Thank you this will be the backbone to my practice through the closed season.
Go get em. Good time to get work in for the upcoming season.
Looks like the drill I’ve been waiting for….time will tell! Thank you Chris
Go get em’. Good golf coming in 2024.
This is such a great video, thank you. Watching it here in Ireland!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Just head some close friends get back from playing 11 rounds in Ireland and they cannot stop talking about how amazing it really was. It's on my bucket list. Thanks for watching and hope you join us for more in the future.
WOW! just went out to net to try out this drill and getting compression like never before after only a few training drills. Thanks so much Chris!
Thank you for putting things to the test and getting good stuff to come out of the drills. Keep working!
🙏👍 this really works - thank you
this finally made me understand taking a divot Infront of the ball. great lesson, thank you!
That’s awesome to hear!!! Welcome to the compression club:)
This is a very effective method of ingraining correct swing knowledge and habits simultaneously. Thanks!
You're very welcome!
This worked like magic! Thank you!
Love to hear it!!!! Keep going!!!!
Wanted to thank you for this! I did this drill this morning and it was a light bulb moment! I've never made such consistent compressed contact in my life! The swoosh sound, the control, it's absolutely amazing!
Thank YOU for taking time to comment like this. I love to help people play this game and I know everyone is different and processes information differently! Super pumped that you took a big step into the compression factory. Keep up the good work and keep going!!!
Love this drill,I am adding this right away, thanks
Doooo it! Good luck and stay focused on the movements and good things will happen.
Chris, a fantastic lesson and drill!
Thank you so much! Wishing you much success with it. Now get to work:)
Hey, I just wanna say thank you so much. I’m in high school and after teh golf season ended I completely lost my swing. This video and the one about swing path have helped me come back better. Thank you.
Nothing makes me happier as an instructor to hear this sort of message. This game is incredible difficult and frustrating all at the same time and I know the pain of feeling lost in the golf swing. I'm super pumped that you were able to use this drill to get back on track and I wish you much success with your game this year. Let me know if you have any questions or need any further help along the way.
Excellent instruction!!!
:) Thank you
Best drill I’ve watched on CZcams EVER!!!
Really awesome of you to say that. Thank you so much.
Brilliant explanation
Glad you thought so! Wishing you much success with the drill and welcome to the compression club:)
I have to comment. Did this drill at home for a day or so after watching this vid a few times and asking about utility for driver. Tried it at the range and the crack sound on impact was immediate. The biggest issue for me was balance, especially on the longer clubs including woods. I'm not exactly sure why, but this drill cure all of that and even the shallowing of the club. I was pretty amazed how quickly this happened. I did chunk a few in the beginning and block some drivers out to the right. But I quickly found if you don't turn all the way through the finish this could happen. At least for me. Thanks 🙏🏼 Chris - now only if you had something similar for putting 😂
Hahahah this is awesome! Glad you stuck to it and saw some great stuff out there. I have a ton of short game stuff coming so hopefully I’ll help you find the cure all for getting the flat stick to work.
Good stuff! Like how it’s broken down in segments! Come to think about it, reason one tries to stay down at impact and let arms follow though , my guess is, not to impede on the turn and lose acceleration cause if your core turns even a smidge too early on the downswing at impact to follow your arms before they follow through, then you lose the acceleration/ speed. Don’t chase your hips after the arms too early … keeping that separation space as far as possible , increasing the distance from arms and core equates to more speed. Hope that makes sense for whoever’s reading….Thank you again!!!
WHAT AN E X C E L L E N T!! Breakdown..this is exactly what i'm looking for right now.. What a time to be alive i can get golf lessons Online!! Thank you.
What a beautiful world we live in! You can even get lessons on how to use a big green egg online. It’s amazing. Thanks for watching and the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video, love the accountability comments, trusting the process, putting in the work...etc.
Gotta do the work for the big payoff or the start of any payoff really. Glad you like the video and thanks for the kind words.
Well said. Nice presentation. I will take the information to the range tomorrow and try to better my sloppy self. Thank you, Tom
Time to eliminate sloppiness this year! Get to work:) Thanks for the comment and hope you come back for more in the future.
Okie doke
Great advice Chris 👌 I’ll give this a try 💯
Get to work and good luck out there:) Stay focused on the movements and you'll see some good success!!!!
Thanks. Your teaching and explanation is clear, systematic and easy to follow. Those checkpoints and drill steps are great.
Now this process is clear to me.
Let's go!!!! Good luck with the drill and let me know if you need any help along the way.
Thanks @@MyGolfDNA
@@MyGolfDNA BTW I'm struggling to keep the wrist (or casting) while doing the down swing. Do you have a drill to maintain the lag so stop casting. Thanks
Close the window drill is a good one to try. Keep an eye on the lead thumb pushing against the shaft on the way down and make sure your patient with letting the arms work fully down in front of you. Also make sure you aren’t over setting the wrists at the top. Hope that helps.
@@MyGolfDNA Thanks. Will do as suggested.
Great video
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you come back to join us for more!
This is the first video I've seen that talks about that feeling of being impossibly over the ball, and shows how to get past that feeling of being too constrained to release the club properly
Great feel builder
thank-you
Thank YOU
I played today try in on the last 2 holes , 1 par , 1 bogey 😊
Good video. I used to have a problem with early extension -- I fixed it my self by staying down on the ball and doing exactly what you said - let the club do what it is designed to do, which means let the club release. I am a righty and what I use as a good swing thought is "turn my left hand knuckles down at and through the ball". I am a 50 year old woman and when middle aged men at the range hear me hit the ball they are amazed. Compressing the ball sounds very different from scooping -
Thank you and you're 100% right, you cannot mistake the sound of compression AND let the club do the work:)
I compress divots with the best of them... anyone want some chilli dip? 😜
Seriously, great drill and you nailed most all the positions. Just be sure your lead arm is fully extended/straight at 9 and trail arm is fully extended/straight at 3 - i.e., lock those elbows! Tip to demonstrate the final result. Go to 12:01 and immediately press the Space Bar to stop the video. The video should be paused at backswing. Repeatedly press the "Period key" on your keyboard to advance the swing one frame at a time (Comma key to go back). Notice how skilfully Chris holds the wrist cock until his hand is over his trailing leg so the shaft is still parallel to the ground - VERY IMPRESSIVE! For us mortals the shaft is pointing toward the ground so keep practicing...
Great video 📹 👍 👏
Thank you 👍
Good drill and suggestions! Hope to work on this, since I'm a lifetime chunker!!!
Get to work! 💪🏻⛳️🚀
Awesome drill! Thank you…..new sub✅
Thank you so much and happy to have you on the channel:) Let me know if you have any questions along the way at all.
Can’t wait to practice this drill at the driving range. Tq
Get to work:)
Bedankt
Thank you very much.
love the vids and I hope you can continue to personally address people's comments as you continue to get more subscribers!
Thank you and I'm going to do my best best.
Great drill Chris. Your videos are among the best. No better sound while playing golf than when you compress the daylights out of a golf ball.
Love some good audio!!!!
pretty solid drill, will stick with it for a while.. my issue is swing at home hitting into the net looks nothing like swing on course.
Bro, Great drill lesson tips
Lesson tips are our specialty
Great drill, thanks man! I flushed a full bucket with 5-2 iron this morning. I guess the ball flight still depends on grip and swing path... But for good contact this drill is amazing! Thumbs up!
I love this! Very creative and new way to teach compression! This is _finally_ helping me to understand the proper way to get to this elusive position. I'm already seeing positive outcomes happening on the range! Thank you for a valuable teaching tip, mate! 👍👏
My pleasure good sir. Keep going! You’ll be a ball striking machine before long if not already.
brilliant explanation and those faults.... thats me. So I'm going to apply.
Apply and report back if you need any further assistance. Thanks for the kind comment. Now, get to work.
Chris, great drill,...please talk about using this drill with the driver. ball position, and covering the ball .
You can use this drill with any club really. Driver you'll want to be a fraction wider in the stance and ball position should move slightly forward of stock ball position. It's actually a good drill for those people that early extend with driver. Glad you enjoyed the drill.
Nice video - you make be believe
Thank you! Get out there and put it to the test. You'll know if the first 10-15 mins if you can translate the feels into a swing that will produce what your looking for. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions at all.
I am from Michigan and get to golf May-October before the season ends each year. Back in about 2013, I accidentally started swinging my irons this way and the results were astonishing. My 7 iron distance for example was 220 yards. My golf partners were perplexed at how I was crushing the ball and to be honest, so was I. This lasted for about 4-5 years and then literally disappeared between the end of one season and the beginning of the next. I’ve never been able to duplicate the technique since. I don’t know how it could disappear basically overnight. I’m going to work on this drill and try to get it back. Thanks!
Work it out and get back on track quickly. You got this. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
A follow up to my earlier comment a few days ago.... Prior to this video i could hit a 5i 150 yds tops - Yest i played 9 holes just with a 5i off the tee and fairways - made 3 +200yd swish shots thanks to this video.
That’s so fricken great to hear.
Great video, thanks for the "boot camp".
This is exactly what I needed. I'm so sick of inconsistent contact on the course. I'm going to get to work on this drill, day after day, until I can't even remember how I used to swing. Can you tell I'm fed up? LOL. By the way - I disagree with the other comments asking you to talk less. BS. You're covering what needs to be said. Thanks for the great video.
Thank you for the kind words and support. Much appreciated and more importantly, I’m happy you’ve got a drill that will help you get past the frustration. This game is a fickle beast and sometimes we just need to clear out the clutter and get back to moving like a golfer. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress or if you need any help along the way.
Thanks! Mahalo from Jeff
Thank you so much Jeff! Wishing you the very best with your game.
I like this...
I like that you like this:)
More demo please!
I'll definitely try this drill. I have a bad problem making consistent contact. I think it's because of all the things you talk about.
Consistency is hard to find in this sport! Hope you are getting much success with the drill.
Christopher I honestly believe the RSS (Right Sided Swing, by Gary Edwin) would be right up your alley!
I’ve been trying similar things the last year and it turned me into an arm and hand swinger, and I can’t stop doing that now!!😢
Woah just did this for like 20 mins on my strike mat. Thin and straight. May have unlocked something here
Go on with it!!!!!!
Very very good video! This is first time I get some real drills to do. Question: does this apply to the driver as well?
Glad you enjoyed the video. Yep, you can use this with the driver as well. Just widen the base a little bit and move the ball position up slightly. Good luck and hope you come back and join us for more.
2:48 hard work 😊
Golf life for forever,shalom
Great drill , would like to see it from DTL , at P6 the face looks toe up ? I like the leading edge in line with the spine.
Have some new stuff coming on this very topic in the next few days. Some interesting data to support clubface entry/exit points in different path and AOA scenarios.
