So even Trump can say something vaguely reasonable, the issue is that at this point, his corporate overlords are the only people he's got left, so he _has to_ cave in every single time they demand something. And these people don't represent any kind of human interest, they represent _corporate_ interest. So at this point it really doesn't matter who Trump is or what he thinks and feels, what matters is what people holding his strings think.

European diplomats, talking on condition of anonymity, has said in interviews that Trump first question, in meetings with other heads of state, whenever a topic comes up is what Obama's policy position was - and that when he's told - he promptly reverts the US position.
Which is why the few competent people he has left in his administration on the foreign policy side spent last week at the Münich security conference (while Trump was back in the US) reassuring European allies that they shouldn't be worried about what Trump says, because that basically doesn't matter anyway as he forgets almost whatever position he expressed as soon as he's stated it.
He doesn't really care or understand any of this anyway - all he wants is to go home so he can live tweet Fox News and play golf.

They didn't sell assault weapons. They sold assault style weapons. It currently costs about $30,000, massive regulations, licensing and red tape to get an assault weapon.

In America, if you want to buy a car, you have to submit yourself to an authority that assesses whether you can be trusted to responsibly operate it. If you can demonstrate that you can responsibly operate it, you are permitted by them to use it under certain restrictions and in certain places via a licence. I have been battling the heartless gun lobby since 81 an heard all the arguments. Assault weapons an semi automatics should have been banned years ago.. Trump is far from the first president dealing with the dirty money from the gun lobby. Some believe that any kind of control means they are trying to take away all guns .Wrong. What we have been trying to do an still do is push stricter control, better back ground checks, no one under 21 can buy a gun an for parents to be more responsible an making sure that their child can't get the weapons. We have had one massive shootings after another. This madness must stop. I even made a video on my personal experience and why I have never supported the terrorist gun lobby. We don't have to continue being the murder capitol of the world

Assault weapon is a BS term made up by the media in the 80s. They are not assault rifles, which have been illegal to sell to the public for a long time as they are fully automatic.
Semi automatic rifles w pistol grips, collapsible stocks, and flash suppressors were called "assault weapons" to vilify them. Turns out a different grip, more comfortable stock, and a do-hicky at the end of the barrel doesn't make it anymore deadly than the average ranch gun used for varmint control.
Of the dozens of handguns and rifles in my house, the one I'd be most scared to meet in a dark alley is the pink handled .357 my wife carries in her purse. It's a revolver, only has 6 rounds and will put a quarter sized hole through anything in it's path (and a few things behind that).
While my AR-15 carries 30 rounds, they're basically a .22 caliber. Tiny little pea sized holes in the targets.
We don't need to ban any type of weapons. We need stricter background checks, longer waiting periods, and education of all of our citizens (especially children) on responsible use of weapons.
And for god sakes stop giving kids antidepressants!!!!
