  • How to Insert a Godet. A great way to add fullness to a garment, in particular skirts, is to add, into either a seam, slash or dart, a triangular shaped piece of fabric, referred to as a godet. Pronounced ‘Go-Day‘, a godet adds not only fullness, but gives a garment volume as well as extenuating movement

I absolutely love your tutorials. They're so well explained, and clear. It's hard to find instructions like this that even a beginner could follow. You take a task that seems overwhelming or impossible and turn it into something that I don't feel horribly under qualified to do. Thank you so much for making them and for giving hopes to new designers with big dreams!

Just over a year ago, I made a renfaire dress with some of these in them. I didn't know what they were called or how to do them, I just knew that I wanted them in my dress... it turned out okay under the 10 foot rule. Now that i'm adapting a pattern I already have for another costume, I figured I'd find out how to do these properly. This helped SO MUCH, I feel so much more confident and able to create the design and look I am truly looking for in my projects.

  • @colleenglea

I'm making making a medieval dress in two colors (front and back mint and side front and side back teal). If I have enough fabric I'm going to try to make a contrast panel hip down between the side center and side back and and the very back. The front is solid so I don't need to bother with that. it's been so long since I've done this I didn't even remember how any more. Thanks :)

I knotted the end rather than back stitching. It's personal choice.

I have always been scared to try something like that because it looked too hard, but your explanations were so clear and easy to follow. I am not afraid of trying that now. Thank you so much from Australia. Love your accent. How do you know the size of the godet?
