    Thank you for this video. You’re the first video I’ve found that used actual fabric instead of small paper pattern. I’m new to sewing and the small example paper pattern confuses me. I needed to see how the actual fabric was sewn in. Thank you so much ❤

    Wowww. It's exactly what I was looking for, the ADVANTAGE of subscribing to your prestigious channel on CZcams. I made a godet for a shirt which I had outgrown and I sewed right up to the point and wondered HOW TO CONTINUE. I wore my "mistake", hoping nobody would notice, as I didnt wanna throw away my shirt. Now I realize my MISTAKE. The filming and CLOSEUP are EXCELLENT. Bravo. A very important tip. Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile 💗💗💗🥰🥰🥰😁😁😁👍👍👍 Your fan from France. A big hug.

    I literally was just about to draft my first dress with a godet on the train this came at an amazing time.

    How many people here sewed a godet into pants to convert them to bell bottoms in the 1960's or 1970's? Might as well add a patch or two. Ah, the good old days!

      Also a big trend in the late 90s! I'm watching this tutorial because that's precisely what I'm planning to do to a pair of my pants.

      I did it in the 90s. I don't think I realized it was a trend. I just wanted more space in my pants. I sewed in a panel as long as the pant leg!

      I remember! What is funny now is that most of the girls were buying their pants like that and I felt "poor" because Mom and I made ours! LOL

    Your tutorials never disappoint! I made my first skirt recently from a self-drafted sloper and found that when I sit, the thigh area is too small and my poor thighs are screaming at me LOL Plus the skirt hikes up. I am going to try this and pray it helps me. Thought about splitting the lower part of the back seam, but it might be too revealing.

    Can you add a godet to a velvet skirt using velvet or is that not a thing?

    So is it deemed a godet and not simply a gusset because it is done at the hem?

      @@ProfessorPincushion So will you answer me this if you can: why is it called a gored skirt and not a godet'd skirt?

    • @angelbear_og
      @angelbear_og Před 8 měsíci

      @@annarboriter Because a gusset is a full panel, from waist to hem.

    Good tutorial, but the correct pronounciation is 'go-DET' NOT 'go-day'.........
