What Exactly is Going on With Hawkgirl & Green Lantern in Superman?

- Literally one day after I posted a video about what I think the costumes of the heroes of the DCU should look like, set photos were released showing off Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl and not only do they show us these characters designs but they also practically confirmed the team that these heroes form and a potential theme of the movie.

I'm pretty sure the guy wearing the blue mocap suit is just there to help with stunts and isn't actually Metamorpho.
We'll have to wait and see
Yeah especially since we saw Supes film a scene, and rhen afterwards the blue guy went over and sat in the same spot with the same pose and they filmed it again

A mocap suit is used to capture the motion of the actor
The one the staff is wearing is just a blue suit to help him have an easy silhouette to selection tool and edit out later

I knew when first seeing it that it was meant to suck on purpose. They're all wearing uniforms for their team, most likely the Terrifics, which is clearly owned by Maxwell Lord, so they're definitely getting better suits later

I like that Superman is the only hero with a costume that pops and stands out above the rest. It sets the tone as to how he will influence everyone in this new DCU. I expect Guy and Hawkgirl to ditch the Lord Tech corporate suits later on.

Some folks are catching on that they’re supposed to look very cookie cutter generic branded suits for a company/team. Definitely gonna be a theme in the movie.
These are probably not their final suits, but they give me early 2000s X-Men design vibes.

The posture... the POSTURE of a COMIC character drawn by VARIOUS artists who styles vary & almost none of them actually do anything canonically of each other?
The Lord Tech logo does kinda look like the letters J and L. I'm okay with the designs, just as long as we see them in more comic accurate suits later on.

Thank you man! I've been saying it over and over again, this is clearly a theme and story based decision. Everybody's getting heated over something that's so incredibly temporary that it's not even funny. What pisses me off is that when, inevitably, the suits change to be more comic accurate, ppl are still gonna say "see? they changed it cause we told them it was bad" even tho that's definitely not what's happening
I agree suits aren't anything amazing but are clearly for story purposes so I can dig them. They will probably change after this movie.
That being said I like the bowl cut as well as the mace and helmet 🔥

@@darkshadowx803it's obvious because he's wearing a head-to-toe blue screen suit. Those are worn by scene assistants when you want to edit the person completely out of the shot. If it were Metamorpho, it'd be the actor Anthony Carrigan wearing a mocap suit.
I figured out exactly what's going on with these suits so dont read ahead if you wanna avoid possible spoilers.
The suits were created by Mr Terrific and funded by Lord Tech. We can see this by looking at the Lord Tech logos on their chests and the photos of all three heroes together show that these aren't costume, they're uniforms. This team is probably a Team Lord or JSA/JLI or a proto Terrifics. Superman will inspire them to leave Lord and create/go back to their unique costumes, eventually leading to them joining his Justice League of unique looking heroes. Mr Terrific will probably take this experience as a team leader and form his own team with Metamorpho too.
If this is true, it's a great way to introduce these characters and immediately spin them off into their own projects.

At first when I saw the costumes I was shocked and sort of disappointed but then I realized that they were just wearing the same outfits because they are a team ( The Terrifics ) that probably work for LordTech.
Really good breakdown and theory about the suits. I also think Gunn is trying to get away from the beefcake era of comic book movies. The green latern suit will pop in the trailer and in the movie because the green aura created by the power ring will actually look nice with the white. As cool as the black and green latern suit would appear to look, I think Gunn is trying to get away from the dark and dreary look of the DCEU. Interested in seeing how Hal and John's suits look in their television series. I wonder if they will be be white, green, and black as well but without the Lord tech logo.

Let me cook, I think Maxwell Lord is leading the Terrifics. The Terrifics was a team create by Mr Terrific and it consisted of himself, Metamorpho, Plastic Man and a ghost lady(I don't know her name). Anyways, it is possible that Maxwell Lord will be the mastermind behind the team except that Green Lantern and Hawkgirl will replace Plastic Man and the ghost lady.
For all we know, Plastic Man can appear as a cameo.

I love the idea of the terifics being a corporate team
The one very big problem I see with fandom today is they jump to conclusions way too soon I always tell my friends until I see a trailer I won’t judge a movie or show all we are getting are photos of them on set, I’m excited about this movie after what Gunn did on guardians 3 so I can wait and not judge

Hawkgirl - has the mask, and the suit looks good enough. Could use more color, but I’m fine with it.

Theyre obviously wearing uniforms given to them by the comoany. They'll have a different look once they're full blown JSA members. Also Lantern could glow when he uses his powers.
Great analysis! Excited to see the heroes get their original suits towards the end of the film. It seems pretty clear what their intentions are! These set photo leaks are a great example of, "you never know, until you know." Good stuff!

I'm actually blown away by much world building is gonna be in this one movie. I really hope that it's not too much, because having a company like this in the universe already just reminds me of how big the DCAU was but it slowly grew to that point. Gunn doing it off at first will be interesting to see. But, if they keep true to Superman and what he stands for I think I'm all in. Just gotta see the final product

I'm pretty sure your'e theiry is spot on. The suits are meant to resemble something that a team of heroes owned/managed by a corporation would be made to wear. Think of those Nascarsuits with the advertising all over them. By the end of the film, they'll disband from Lord Tech and go back to wearing their original costumes.
I have a theory that they aren’t the terrifics or the JLI, but actually the Conglomerate, a team created by Maxwell Lord’s wife in the comics as a response to the popularity of the JLI, all members had matching jackets similar to how Guy, hawk girl and mr terrific do
I thought this was a superman movie. It's looking more like a Justice League movie
I feel like we're being trolled by James Gunn and these suits will get a glow up on post editing and will have that cool factor like the Guardians had. I'll hold my judgement till the movie comes. I'm hyped as hell though

Really good observation with the Lord Tech logo on their uniforms. I was starting to wonder why all of their costumes had so much white in it. It makes sense that these costumes are only temporary.
Yeah, they're like corporate uniforms. They'll probably revert back to their original costumes after the disband from Lord Tech at the end of the movie.
The guy in blue is not Metamorpho, if he were that character he would have a suit that records movement points. That guy is simply a special effects assistant, he is in blue to be a draft of the scene.

I trust James Gunn. I bet after we get a trailer, so many people will be jumping ship and acting like they were behind Gunn from day 1.
I think youre spot on as far as the suits go. When i first seen them and saw they were similar to MrT i thought they must be some sort of team especially with the same symbol on their chest. That peaked my curiosity because this world may have a far more interesting dynamic than "hey we`re superheroes we go out and help the world". Things appear to be a lot more complicated than that with corporate interests being involved and possibly some type of government oversight on Superheroes besides someone like Amanda Waller.
Also speaking of suits i seen some video of what appears to be David Cornswet in a very different suit that is a darker blue, no trunks and no chest symbol or possibly covered with burn marks from battle damage. Some are speculating its BIzarro which i guess is possible but that still doesnt really explain a suit that clearly looks more form fitting and a darker color than the bright and loose fitting one DC has on.

Hawk girl, Green Lantern, and Mr. terrific work for the same group that’s why their suit looks so similar
I theorize the costumes shown here, might be first stage for the heroes, and I theorize later the heroes will have better looking hero outfits.
What I mean by first stage, is showing what it’s like for beginner heroes, and what there prototype outfits are like.

Keep in mind that C EGI is involved in most movies today even when it’s not noticeable. Remember the very first image of Superman and everyone freaked out about it? Then after these other pictures came out people loved it. How many other times have we seen behind the scenes set photos and everyone lost their mind and started crying but only when the movie came out you realized it looks fine?
I can almost promise you the way they look is not their final look, will be.

It's not Metamorpho you are missing a picture.
I know the plot: Heroes have existed before super-man, but they are not particularly admired. Super-man will force them to become more unique and genuine with his charisma.

Is it me or does the Hawkgirl suit look something akin to something Laura Kinney used to wear around the early 2010s? It might just be the black, white and gold but I'm fairly sure I have some X-Men book or X-Men crossover book from back then where Laura looks somewhat like that.
That's not Metamorpho, you wouldn't put Anthony Carrigan into a blue suit, he'd be in a mocap suit if that's what they were doing with the character. That's someone that's going to be digitally erased.
Nobody is pointing out that the background actors are dressed like late 70s early 80s.

I think they are a pre existing team that will just get clowned on.
I'm still really confused how everyone ignores the giant 'Samsung' under 'lordtech' which adds the implication that the logo could be a completely different company. It sorta(?) looks like it could be a JL or even Mr. Terrific's company, or it could very easily just be a Terrifics that's operated under Lord.
Crazy how some people are trashing the movie off of OBVIOUSLY non-permanent suits on characters that most of the audience will either be unaware or unfamiliar with in a movie STILL FILMING lmao

I think the inclusion of other superheroes is just going to be used as part of the theme of the movie. It’s still about Superman though.
