I was 10 when this was on, poor but we had the important things, friendship, family, good childhood times, something films would make back in the day, miss it. The things we didn’t know, kids were kids, respect for adults and sticking with your family, they were amazing times. Nostalgia tingles. A year later got pissed on baby sham in a barbrque, that was the last year i remember my whole family was truly happy, one my great grandmother died, my grandfather was never the same until he died, sorry for the sad bit at the end, lesson here is, enjoy life every day as a present, you’ve got to experience the bad, to enjoy the good.

I love watching TV commercials from this era. They are soft, well spoken, not rushed, not in your face, relaxing, warm, calm, quieter and comforting adverts. They seem less *cold* than adverts today which are hard, common (some times more ghetto sounding due to diversity quotas) fast paced, slap bang wallop editing, in your face, tense, rushed, loud and as a result just so so *cold* just like today's world. So I switch these on for some comfort and reassurance.

    • @Goodbyeeveryonehere

I agree, slow, soft and lovely to watch I don't have a tv licence these days (,have a smart tv so watch netflix and CZcams only) but obviously still see adverts on here. I think the new M and S Christmas jumping around one has less class than a Poundland advert would have. I'm glad i don't have to see so much crap any more

@Fenyk An Loer yes day time TV is all "this child is going blind in India so give us your money" or like you say, "your funeral costs £7,000". I have a smart tv but no tv licence, so I don't watch tv. I watch only netflix or CZcams now. Got sick of all the repeats on the only (imo) watchable "drama" channel. jokingly called it the Dementia Channel cos had same episode of tv programme more than once in the same day. And no offence to any one with loved ones with Dementia. my mum had it when she died.

my daughter was only 2 awww bless, doesn't time fly, maybe it is me but I feel adverts were better made in the day as now its more adverts for gambling or take away junk food, I use to love the story adverts like the BT advert aka Marien Lipman, and all because the lady love's milk tray, The best was the OXE adverts watching them grow up can't remember her full name Linda who starred in the OXE advert. I just feel they were better adverts, Your right Lee kids were kids they had their moments but they did respect adults a lot more I know my children did and when the family came around to visit my kids were so good which I'm proud of.

+Bedsitdweller Most of the club music we have now started back then in the late 80s (Acid, Rave, Techno, Hard House etc), and at the time I just assumed it was a passing fad. It just proves that most people only hear music, they do not listen to it in any depth otherwise they would soon be very bored and aggravated with club music. If you look at the charts circa 1980/81 you would see a huge variety of music, something for everyone. You cannot say the same now.

I have never understood that Spar advert. Does that couple actually live in the backroom of that branch of Spar (where the stock is usually kept)? And does she actually commit an act of shoplifting when she grabs the box of chocolate biscuits in three seconds between store and living room? Perhaps they actually own that Spar store? I think we should be told... :)
Also, is it me or does the woman in the pink jacket in the Tweed advert look a little bit like Edwina Currie? Only me then. Only a year before the Salmonella scandal...

Yes, we also don't use the work "like" all the time either !!
A flashlight would suggest that you use it to flash, not to look for stuff in the dark.

+Lewis72 by that logic, calling it a torch would suggest it's on fire. But thanks for trying to be shitty about it.

Back when Thatcher was PM. It was a better time where people believed in Britain unlike the young ungrateful's today who value crap.

that evil woman called the murdering dictator pinochet a friend, abolished the GLC in order to remove an opposition power base and destroyed a great national asset in the mining industry making war on our own people in the process. she had no commitment to freedom and democracy. and engineered a nice little war to get re elected. they were terrible times which did not improve till 1997

Thatcher wasnt nice...but if she hadnt rolled back the unions and leftists the UK would have either collapsed into third world status or ended up going full totalitarian (as in that old show '1990' with edward woodwood) True she hurt about 1/4 of the people...but that 1/4rd were the ones holding everyone else to ransome with strikes and go slows.... she gave the UK another 2 decades of relative prosperity whatever her personal faults
