When shops on high Street were open
Love it, I want they days back
Now all we here is
Administration
Miss these days...
When advertising was clear, well spoken, straight to the point and short. Oh...I forget upbeat without the charity ads 😂
BHS.. Woolies... now Debenhams... i left the UK 20 yrs ago... im so sad ill never set foot in debenhams taunton again :(
Love the old adverts don't get them now it's all about death , funeral's,and people wanting money.
Just to say a huge thank you Neil for bringing all these wonderful adverts to us I for one really appreciate your hard work. 😊
That Ronco buttonier actually looks like it would be quite handy!
I am in the Boots ad. Been looking for this for a very long time. Thanks for uploading
Are you the puppet Santa?
All the stores that have closed. Debenhams, Woolworths etc sigh....I really miss Woolies
You could get pissed for a tenner in the good old days.
Absolute rubbish 🗑 😂...£10 in 1984 is worth £41.12 today.
I see Dixons is selling Marty McFly's JVC camcorder.
"A portable television studio!" - 1955 Dr Emmett Brown
Much respect to *that one guy* who did basically every voiceover in the 80s. You know the one. Yeah, him. Worked his arse off through the 80s n subsequently formed a massive portion of my sense of nostalgia lmaooo
Yes absolutely I love his voice
The nightmare of Xmas shopping before Amazon still gives me chills.. .. .. .
Back when you could buy Harp Lager in England 🍺
See the price of the plonk at Presto, no wonder we’re all alcoholics now lol.
Ricky Tomlinson narrating in the Woolworths Video adverts.
Omg gateway that was a blast from the past . Great vids as normal
That Commodore C16 package looks an absolute deal for the time, i loved the second-hand one i had but understand that when new they didn't sell that well, hence the Xmas bargain?
how upset we were by adverts instead of of the show or movie,,, now we all relate to them,,,and even worse if you bought one of them and kept it,,,its worth big money now
Love these! Thank you Neil Miles.
So many memories x
The snooker table isn't small, it's just far away.
On the 12th day of Pissedmas my true love sent to me
12 port and lemons
11 cans of lager
10 sparkling ciders
9 crates of vodka
8 double whiskies
7 dry sherries
6 Tia Marias
5 large gins
4 champagnes
3 brown ales
2 barley wines
And a bottle of Cherry B.
That Ronco display looks interesting! Am in the US and we did not have half of these items!
Those BHS adverts comparing two people sitting next to each other seems similar to the kind of spy thriller set up when two characters accidentally swap bags. The grumpy lady ends up with all of the nifty BHS gear whilst the previously smug shopper turns out to have a bag full of Soviet secrets and spends Christmas and New Year on the run from assassins!
Most of those Ronco items are weapons.
The battery tester looks as if it could deliver a violent nipple tweaking
4:42 Brian Hall, chef Terry from Fawlty Towers
Good spot
@ Simon Turnill: I knew I recognised him! Thank you, Simon and Merry Christmas.
That poor man lost his life to cancer at the age of 57 back in 1997 🙁
I remember growing up in the eighties and my brighter got a tool set for Christmas abd I used it to with him abd our mum scratched her head as to where we got the wood from until she found out and saw thst legs of the kitchen table and chairs were missing abd parts of wardrobes upstairs we were good at disguising the missing parts of wardrobes 😂😂😂well that’s what happens when it’s a real toolset with real mini tools in it 😂😂
Brilliant memories thank you
1:04-1:15 Now Yearbook 1983 Christmas moment inspired by The Pretenders' "2000 Miles" at the end of the first edition.
1:15-1:56 Now Yearbook 1984 Christmas moments inspired by Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love" at the end of both editions.
1:56-2:58 Now Yearbook 1985 Christmas moments inspired by Shakin' Stevens' "Merry Christmas Everyone" at the end of the first edition.
I certainly remember that Family Circle biscuit tin being a feature of Christmas gatherings. Does that still exist?
Yes - I have a box in the kitchen right now. Red, thin cardboard box.
Ooh yeees!!
Just had a box of them, not the same anymore 😞
We had Rover tins of biscuits back in the late 70's early 80's.
11:03 "Your move...Creep!"
There is something about the voice over voices that are so comforting not like todays shouty voices.
Thank you r for the avarts from the past as I remember some of them
God, I miss Woolies (and to a lesser extent Tony Slattery, I suppose)
“Global Thermonuclear War” 😂
God elecrical goods cost a fortune in the '80's !.
Good old Ronco. I wonder what ever happened to them?
Where TF are these ads from? Never heard of most of these places, Neebs, Hey Presto, and Harrods. We lived oop north, so these obviously must be so poncey southern shops 🤣
0:42 Is that Granada's Chuck F voicing the ad for the Look-in Annuals?
Bring back the buttoneer.
Concorde wine.oOh noooo!
It used to be okay to advertise alcohol and tobacco. I kinda miss even though I don't drink or smoke.☕
Don't they still advertise alcohol
Was that a young Nick Ross on the bhs advert?
No it’s an actor that looks just like him.
Nearly a thousand quid for a camcorder. Gulp!
Recording is as cheap as chips, these days.
Er? Neeb????
North east electricity board
Don't remember them either.
That booze is cheap!
