The giraffe puzzle is easily the hardest puzzle compared to this

Thanks to the power of CZcams and Mr Puzzle. I've taught myself by just setting and practicing 20 sec solve / disassemble. It's actually quite easy once you learn how it works. Funny thing is I've been setting on this cake puzzle for almost 2 years . My daughter found it today in some toy box thought it was pirate treasure . Ha! 3 year olds . So we both sat down watched this video and WOLA! 20 min later it fell out onto the ground basically. She screamed this very high pitch excited pirate grawl and kicked the karate kicked the air cause she thinks we're rich now. Thanks mister puzzle!!!!

Got this puzzle for Christmas, spent a while trying to figure it out. One day which spinning it around at a certain angle, all the slices just came out, was shocked!
Solved it awhile ago but could write get the positions to show my son. Thanks for showing this one and confirming the positions.

I really like the hanayama cast series. Lol something else to add to my Christmas wish list 😊. I'll admit when I saw the thumbnail I thought of Pac Man too, and then I thought "the cake is a lie" (lol you can Google it). Great video as per usual. looking forward to the next one 😊

The solution you give is an unintended solution. A thicker or more tightly machined version would disallow it. There are two closely related intended solutions which don't involve any vertical angling.

That's interesting because that's not how I solved this thing. I got the top two layers out simultaneously and my alignment was different too.

Matthew Kimmel same here. With the right alignment the two top pieces slide out, and it is obvious the skewing feature is a ruse and shouldnt be possible as solution.

Congrats on solving it but your alignment actually makes removal much more awkward than it needs to be. When you get it, two layers slide out much easier. Of course this solves it but you will see that this other way will feel much more intuitive and intentional.

Could you do the Hanayama padlock next?
If you do the layers in the reverse order of what is shown here (rotate them the same way, but start with the top layer), the solution also works. I find it easier to slide the middle layer out instead of the top layer, but they both work. Also, the manufacturer's solution is completely different from either of these, and I'd say it's the most difficult of all!
If you have a new puzzle this solve does not work. It is for older “cakes”. Test it and see! 👍
there is an easier way. when it's in the right position (that you showed) you can take the 2 upper layers and pull them out horizontaly.
poof65 that is a slightly different solution where you would swap the orientation of the top and bottom disks.
I solved it on my own his way the first time, then noticed exactly what you said. and felt dumb for how sore my fingers were after working to twist the layers as he does.
Honestly looks like it should be rated 1/6.

I wonder if Mr. Puzzle would like Super Mario Maker. A lot of the levels are just platforming challnge, but there are quite a few "one-screen" puzzles that are pure puzzling elements.
Giraffe was so much harder. Man. By a lot. Can not believe you were able to solve that one.
I found a model for a 3D printer online. I wonder if it's easy to print these things.

I want to watch this video so bad but I'm a huge Hanayama fan and I don't want to spoil the solution. This is going to be tough.
I literally figured out how it worked in the first 5 seconds of you moving it around, it's a simple lock mechanism, if this is a 4 out of 6 a 6 must be moderate at most.
There is another way to put the 3 parts in. Using the method of taking it out but mirrored and putting the middle one in last.

Let's give you one hint. Positioning of the layers, relative to each other.
I see a small dent in one of the pieces. Is this important, or is it just a manufacturing error?

I think I've got a better chance of instantly recovering from a stroke on the spot than solving this one
I found a slightly easier solution. I was surprised to see yours was different as it has such tight tolerances I figured there would only be one way.
I'll do my best to describe it (Spoilers below in the reply):
1. I start with the Cake lettering on the top.
2. I align the bottom disc's edge of the cutout to the left instead of the right.
3. I align the center disc to the right as you have with your solution.
4. The top disc is aligned to the right. Essentially, the top and bottom discs are the opposite of your solution.
5. Once you have them lined up, you can slide out the top two discs quite easily. However if you try just one, it won't work.
I haven't even seen the solution and I've already forgotten it.
How to bring Pac-Man back to life!
the hardest part on this one is taking the discs out and putting them back in ;)

not exactly the same.. 4:04 you can see that the top right piece has a little pin. by visualising how you pulled it out the pin was unblocked since the piece was tilted town and then you were able to pull it out/
