Another great band with a similar sound is Solitude Aeturnus, Robert Lowe, their singer, was even the singer for Candlemass (he was on 3 of their albums). Check "Opaque Divinity" by Solitude Aeturnus.
Candlemass has many good songs. However, I would like to suggest you songs from two other Swedish Bands. 1. Bathory - Shores in Flames 2. Ereb Altor - Myrding Their music was called Viking Metal 1990. I am talking about Bathory. Both songs are melodic, heavy, and unpredictable.
Bathory are the fathers of two different genres Black Metal and Viking Metal... how many bands (or artists because it was an one man band) can accomplish that feat? I also recommend the songs "One Road to Asa Bay" and "Twilight of the Gods" from the Viking Metal era" and "Woman of Dark Desires" and "A Fine Day to Die" from the Black etal era.
You should react to Oceans of Slumber's cover of Solitude by Candlemass. Oceans of Slumber are a progressive metal band from Texas with an amazing female lead singer and they are absolutely incredible and deserve way more exposure.
i might be a bit late lol but u NEED to listen to candlemass - black sabbath medley. u mentioned they sound like black sabbath. in that song they put together some of black sabbaths best riffs in one song it’s awesome

Allow me to recommend some doom death and gothic doom metal albums: *Turn Lose the Swans (My Dying Bride) *Lost Paradise (Paradise Lost) *Gothic (Paradise Lost) *Serenades (Anathema) *Where Lovers Mourn (Draconian) *Lake of Sorrow (The Sins of Thy Beloved) *Velvet Darkness They Fear (Theatre of Tragedy) *Ebony Veiled (Kimaera) Also, the new Sinistro album that I've forgotten what it's called. It is really good. 🤘
Candlemass are awesome. Not very much diversity, but they do what they do extremely well, in Doom Metal. Not sure what other song you've heard from them, but would it by any chance be 'Bewitched'? If not, man you seriously need to react to that one. Specifically the music video version. Trust me, you'll spend half the time headbanging to a sick song, and the other half convulsing with laughter at the beyond cheesy video. It's magical haha. Well of Souls and Samarithan from this same album are absolute raging tunes as well.
