Tesla looks like a bar of soap with lights and windows 😂
What a great looking car!
Have to say, I probably would never have found your channel had it not been for the collab. I thought the content on both channels complimented each other really well. Have continued watching MUtS and am even considering a visit in the future. I think a future collab with Lee would be a great idea, he cones off as a bit of a buffoon at times, but clearly knows what he's on about, and linking up with you for the Mallorca trip was a great thing, not only for his blog, but also to see your take on the same content. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
My 2015 Renault Megane GT Line has built in sat nav which is essential. Its why I bought it, The interior design in the new E tech is great and exterior very curvy
Hi Paul, if it isnt too much work, can you do a short video on the cheapest new SUVs in Australia for 2024
This should be $35k.
Your main talking point for this car should be the cost being so high.
Sweet test. Thanks for doing it. Was thinking of making this my next car to replace my Clio. But I don't like how they've de-specced it relative to the European ones. But worse my local Renault dealer doesn't sell them. Renault shouldn't be making it harder to buy them. It'll be a tough sell at that price as it is. With the spec change it needs to be at least 5k cheaper.
If you want something to replace that, the EX30 is calling your number
Yeah just watched a local test on that. Looks good. But too small.
Hi Paul. I've watched all of your small/mid SUV reviews/tests. Love them because you cover everything. Peugeot don't like reviews? Hard to find many reviewed in Australia. Was hoping you would do one on the 2008 (not E version) Petrol. Any chance?
I would more closely compare this to the EX30, Born and BZ4X. Shame we miss some of the euro spec tech but it's clear where the R&D has been spent on this car. Ride and handling. I see this as evidence that the passion for vehicle engineering is not lost with Renault which is so refreshing in the stale 0-100 EV comparison world that we have right now. Cars are so much more than that so it's nice to see driving enjoyment prioritised in an EV at this price.
No one ia buying a small SUV like this for it's sporting prowess or driving dynamics. The looks, interior quality and technology will be what attacts the target customer of inner city no kids.
I wish we had this in South Africa 🇿🇦 😢
Looks fantastic!!
That rear view camera quality is ridiculous at that price.
Its not an electric version of the Megane - the megane is now an electric only model. There is no combustion version.
Shame we don't get the android automotive connected infotainment system they have in Europe. As someone who would be purchasing a car in that class, the infotainment is pretty much a deal breaker. Hopefully they bring the Scenic to Aus with the connected infotainment.
Correct, and there is no R-Link nor my Renault app in Australia, what's the reason I wonder?
Very nice wheel design.
Whilst not in the market right at this second, this one is a contender for my consideration!
What saving would you get with Car Expert on the drive away price?
Would be a problem noting the yellow indicator lights from distance…
The speedometer increments seem rather big.
Lovely looking thing but the price, sheesh.
the key looks like a tv remote
Noticed you haven't been testing the lane keeping assists lately. Is this to do with VW?
VW?
@@pjb5594 VW blamed the banked circuit for the failure of their lane keeping function so Paul mentioned they would no longer test VWs that way but it seems they are no longer testing any cars.
@@rcre7839 Oh okay. Paul tested my car (Toyota ) and it passed all three lanes on the banked circuit so VW system must need fixing!
They've slashed 10k on this car making it a more viable option
I think I would go the Volvo EX30 over this maybe with the option for all wheel drive. Not that much more expensive.. well ok 10k more if you go the all wheel drive. It does start at 65k for the base model that appears to come with a fair bit more for your money and as plus it is rwd.
i like the design more than my model Y
but the megane is TINY inside and outside.
It's also MORE than a Tesla Model Y
It's laughable to compare this to a Model Y! It's more comparable to a BYD Atto 3 actually, especially in size. The MY is much larger and has a LOT more tech and functionality. Looks are subjective so you can't go by this as a comparison.
This is a great car but this key is from 2010… lol 😂
Thanks
And again NO spare tyre. When will manufacturers get it through their heads that we want and need spare tyres particularly in Australia. Maybe it doesn’t matter in some places in Europe - but this is Australia.
That Speedo is annoying as it doesn’t scroll through the speed km it jumps and misses such as 71 to 81. That would be irritating very quickly. Never had a car with a digital Speedo just jump and miss 10km/h or more.
This car isn't for everyone, but it will be for someone.
They cut power seats, power tailgate and anything else that would affect its weight. It is one of the lightest in its class and its a car that drives well.
Some people are willing to make that compromise.
I drive a European car, and although china EVs are coming out the wazoo and look nice, China made cars just take a toll on pride.
In saying so, i previously had a 2016 Renault Megane GT, the first on qld roads and I loved it!
To the unknown eye, people would 2nd glance this car without a doubt.
Despite it not being the exact same car as the UK spec model, I'd probably still get one
Is there really AM radio?! So many brands excluding this now 😢
Doesn’t DAB cover AM stations
Nah not outside of metro
please review tank 500 Paul
Yes
70k for this? must be joking!
Beautifully designed car.
This is definitely not a Model Y competitor when it comes to size, it’s a Class C Family Car not a D SUV. This is expensive for what you get as most EVs in this price bracket are a Class up in size, even if it looks great, better looking than most EVs
Exactly! It's laughable to compare this to a Model Y! It's more comparable to a BYD Atto 3 actually, especially in size. The MY is much larger and has a LOT more tech and functionality. Looks are subjective so you can't go by this as a comparison.
It’s way smaller than a Tesla model Y on the inside, much closer to the polestar 2

imagine a french car with 4 electric motors
I'm glad you loved the drive but deal breakers are the lack of 360 degree camera, the lack of electric seats, electric boot, and the terrible boot space. For $70k I expect way more.
Same here. No native satnav, either - it relies on your phone for everything. OS models at least have inbuilt Google operating system with heaps more features. The Aus importer has de-specced our models. Paul doesn't mention that it feels terribly tinny and poorly built - the doors and boot clang like a 12,990 Hyundai Getz. . I loved the drive, but the lack of features and equipment for the price is unforgivable.
@@stevenswann2835 yeah I had a Clio as my last car and it was a great car but the Android info system built into Renault could not be upgraded to use Android Auto, so I do not trust any Renault entertainment experience.
@@stevenswann2835
My sister loved the Getz 😂
@@mrgarrison3516 Good on her. Not knocking the Getz, just highlighting that the Megane feels built down to a weight (or price).
@@stevenswann2835
All good.....I don't like them 👍
Finally some French car goodness!
9:23 alot of depth....but no spare 🤷
Very nice looking car but the overall packaging seems poor, poor screen resolution, boot space practicality, etc.
Where not gonna make it out the hood getting any crossover or compact daily car these days😂
yeah... 40k max and it'd be still expensive, the 2008 EV is nicer and bigger
or just grab a larger Cerato, save almost 30k+ for fuel for the next 40 years
Yeah but the Cerato is rubbish.
A French Mini at 70k, a bit new age bourgeoisie really... Let them eat cake!
Model Y is not a small car, but a mid sized car!
Exactly! It's laughable to compare this to a Model Y! It's more comparable to a BYD Atto 3 actually, especially in size. The MY is much larger and has a LOT more tech and functionality. Looks are subjective so you can't go by this as a comparison.
@@johnlambert1744 even the Atto 3 has more space and tech than this at a much lower price point, but clearly the Megane is more about style than practicality
@@johnlambert1744 i think this is 5th time you have copied and pasted this response. Typical one eyed telsa fan boy. model Y looks pox and will age terribly
Nice looking car but loses 33% of its value in the first year in the UK.
So real world range is only 300 km. 60 kw/h battery, but can only use 90% so that’s 54 kw/h and it uses 18 kw/h per 100 km…. 3 times 18 is 54. So in the real world cannot even do the Sydney to Canberra drive without recharging… $70,000 . Think I will stick with ICE thanks.
Real world range on the Hume Hwy is 300 with 100% charge
I hate that 90% of all EVs have to be SUVs, what happened to small cars?
There are reasons for it. The first is the self-fulfilling perception that the market only wants SUVs. Not a great reason.
The second is that SUVs can ask a price premium, which helps offset the battery. A better reason.
The third is that placing the battery under the cabin raises the height of the floor, forcing a higher seat and roof which is easier to accommodate in an SUV form factor. A logical reason.
That said, there are small car EVs in the GWM Ora, MG4, BYD Dolphin, Nissan Leaf, and the forthcoming Renault R5.
Look at those colors inside...blue seats blue dash.. matching colors. Beat American colors.
Lol, couldn't play 'The Stroke ' by Billy Squier. 😅
Paul. Next time play 'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath. 🤟
It’s a French electric car and it’s near 70g on the road. Just imagine the resale value. Pure comedy gold 😂😂
Haha yep... just look at that Peugeot e-2008 EV where they cut 20k off the RRP
Guaranteed Future Value fine print, well organise a flatbed to get it to the recycling shop for you, in 3yrs.
Gonna be a bargain on the used market in a few months.
These are overpriced poor quality rubbish. Keep away.
Haha you no nothing about them so keep ya dribble off here
That so you say Renault Is Re-nou. Ok I got it
Exterior looks great, interior is pathetic, price what a joke😂
Great looking car , but $70k drive away, who’s buying
absolutely no one
not me that's for sure.
what do you drive?
A Renault EV . What could go wrong?
Literally no one asked for this review. The french car market in australia is pretty much dead.
Did the coffee have the correct amount of milk?
What a fail by renault. Tiny screen, no power tailgate, piano black everywhere. Front wheel drive, poor range, harsh ride, no frunk. The Volvo ex30 will sell double what this does.
$70k for this car 😂
Fur coat, no knickers. The equipment spec pure poverty pack.
Yummy
What an absolute rip off much better value for money on the market. Electric cars so expensive for not much benefit
Reviewing this car must be your version of having to drudge work. I love EV’s but 🤮
Eish why so many electric cars been reviewed 😢
Renault is a french descriptive word that means human excrement.
not reliable, too little too late
Not my cup-of-tea. French cars have been notorious for poor mechanical reliability. Maybe the fact that its electric will help the figures but too expensive.
well Renault are no worse than other OEMs in this day and age. They have far less recalls compared to Peugeot, VW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, BMW, even Honda.
That’s one wonky and ugly car. The French can keep it
How much for a battery replacement ?? Valueless EV and it’s French 🇫🇷 rubbish 😂😂😂
How much to replace your ' grey ' engine ?
I’m assuming you’re putting the Chinese brands in the same bin? 🤔
yep especially cheap Chinese rubbish any EVs are a throw away car valueless after the warranty runs out
@@mvnorsel6354lot less then batteries one example for a Porsche EV to replace in the uk 45 thousand pounds and the depreciation is staggering and the Porsche dealership will only buy it back if ur buying a new EV
@@leemace9638 ok, you just hate all evs. In terms of design it at least beats the bland nah cars pumped out of China.
What do you say at the beginning? Gay on Paul?
😡 I WILL NOT BUY A FIRE STARTER EV CAR NEVER NEVER NEVER 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Bet you'd be surprised to learn that combustion cars are much more likely to catch fire
