Great video with a balanced insight! I think it’s also worth noting that Celtic and its supporters participation in the Premiership would also greatly benefit the revenue streams of existing premiership clubs. The premiership would also benefit from one of the largest and most loyal fan bases in the game.

I'm a celtic fan but big teams in England like Leeds and Villa go up and down. Having a good fan base doesn't mean much in a top league unfortunately. Look at Schalke and Hamburg in Germany.

I'm a celtic fan but I'm also realistic. You cant just say having fans and a good stadium is enough for a top league. Look at Leeds and Newcastle 2 of the best supported clubs in England, Hamburg and Schalke in Germany. Recruitment would have to be top notch to have any chance of survival in England I'm afraid.

I agree. The days of having a big fan base and large capacity crowd meaning success died long ago where the Premier league is concerned. Probably right thereabouts when Roman Abramovic took over Chelsea it more or less cemented that fact. We can look at various clubs who are well supported and much more established in the EPL and takes alot of stars to align to maybe, just maybe pip Pep's Man City to number one spot. And let's not pretend that Man City got where they are because of large support or their history and all that.
Quite simply, you need a mega rich, billionaire owner. And that'll spend like there's no tomorrow within limits of the current financial fairplay PSR rules. Need a time machine also as Newcastle are finding out currently. Aston Villa also no less, don't be thinking they (Villa) aren't well supported or that Birmingham is some small population that don't follow football like up in Glasgow.
Villa owners are rich also but can hardly spend to close gap up top end because of the FFP rules.
I don't doubt Celtic and Rangers could hold their own and progress because of the institutions that they are to their fans, but realistically, they start off on a lesser foot than lots of teams financially and all of a sudden every player that comes in expects about 4 times what their highest paid current player does. And that's just the average ones just because of the league they're to play in. You're shopping in the same windows as likes of Arsenal etc and players inevitably go for the money. The TV money don't go as far as you'd think so end up trying to get ahead with clever recruitment.
Going down ain't no joke either, you should probably know the length of time some clubs who are massively supported like Leeds, and various other ones who have had benefit of TV money for years, Stoke etc because they couldn't get back up before parachute payments finished. Ended up with players talking up their entire budget more or less just on wages and unable to really strengthen properly. Landed with overpaid and sulking flops trying to get back into the big money league. To think Celtic or Rangers would somehow be exempt of this happening to them is kinda blissful ignorance.

The truth is we know that Celtic would do well because if they wouldn’t the English would have had them down already but they know it would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. Outside of Man U and Liverpool every club would be taking inviting in a club who is either bigger than them just now or will be very quickly depending on what measurement you use. First season it might be hard but even if Celtic got relegated Celtic aren’t a Leeds or a Newcastle or anything as trivial. That would be a mere blip and long term would be a consistent top 4 club because in terms of sheer size the English public don’t realise it but genuine football people do and they’ve shat their pants over it for generations.

  • @Offside__90

Fan base doesn't mean that much. Look at Leeds, or Schalke and Hamburg in Germany. Having a big loud stadium and alot of fans doesn't mean that much unfortunately. Money and recruitment are the biggest factors in English football unfortunately.

As a Celtic fan from way back , dont go these days likes for other reasons BUT facts are IF say Celtic and i also inc Rangers
here that if they both were parchuted into Epl in just a couple of seasons as businessmen
from John O ' Groats to Lands End would all be falling over themselfs to be a bit part within them two sleeping Giants .
As mark my words Epl would not know whats happened to it ..They would make much more millions
Plus also would the Epl because of their hugh passionate fan base both teams have in Scotland .
They would win the Epl in time because top players would want to play for such teams , them with such a large passionate fan base , more passionate than any fans in England . Also able to pay them over the top wages to best players both Celtic and Rangers would ..Would take over Epl after couple of seasons both Celtic and Rangers , they would more than hold there own.
And this is why authorities in English football do not want them . Anything else said by them is make belief , and made up mince as they know full well that ive said the plain facts .
But away from England here i still feel Celtic board should be doing so much more in Scotkand in making the team stronger for Europe as have at present around £160 m within club and can easily and should spend out around that 60m on team say on 5 x 10/12m players in certain positions to make team better for this upcoming season and so far done nothing seems .
Terrible boards Celtic have had , as all they live for is making millions , but not on spending out on the team , not near enough
even when they do ..They rake in muich from player sales out the door , season books renewed and Merchandise and still have nor replaced Jota like for like on the wing , and need a better striker and left back and Centre back as Scales is not the answer , and of course a goalie . If they were doing such and getting in right sorty guys in them positions early doors give them time to get used to their team mates then Europe can get better and go that bit further after Christmas and give fans something to hang onto after Christmas time and maybe beyond then .
Sadly Celtic have done nothing in Europe for decades now via lack of spending on their team and its way time board today acted on such a support who deserve much better on the park . As for Managers Ange Postecoglou was the manager at Celtic Fc
this is where the english come poach all Celtics better players also
Im sure if Celtic were in the Epl then Ange would still be the Celtic manager today and not at Spurs .
And back to manager Celtic id much rather never went back for Rodgers a 2nd time after his walking away from the club
for Leicester half way thru a season was deplorable and we had Rangers next gme to play them then under Gerrard .
plus |Rodgers record in Europe with both Celtic 1st time and 2nd time and with Leicester has been deplorable to say the least .
Quick edit - Having said all this above just take a look at the England Int side today yes in Semis of Euro championships
But lets be honest they have been MINCE ..( They could get football stopped ) as has been so boring passing side to side
then back to the goalie in slow motion it seems all game ..Very lucky to be where they are the now this via an easy route so far .

They would sign bigger and vetter players, they gave the support and in England with better players they and dare I say it Rangers would really get things going in that league.

When you get to the EPL start speculating to accumulate, DD net worth is in the billions and he’s one man, financial fair play in England stops rapid success, just look at Newcastle. Look at all those teams like Forrest? Point deduction razor edges, EPL isn’t the promise land so be careful what you wish for.

They might finish in the top ten but it will never happen. The English league don't need them. A European super league will eventually be formed. I know it has been discussed and rejected but it will happen. Football at the highest level will become a game people only watch on television.

The self grandisisation of Celtic fans knows no bounds. So they have lots of fans and the belief this would make a difference in the EPL is deluded. Everton, Villa, Spurs, Leeds , West Ham and Newcastle have huge fan bases but struggle to consistently finish top 4 regularly.

    • @tonyoliver9296

But they are dwarfed by Celtic. The biggest attendance in a domestic game in Europe is held by Celtic. The biggest attendance for any game in a EUFA competition is also held by Celtic. If we can get 60k against Livingston then im pretty sure we could get 90k against a Man U or a Liverpool.

  • @kieranmclaughlin8920
