I also have the same iPhone 5 model and plan on transferring to the 12. Is the SIM card transfer easy or is it not compatible with one another?

Lol, I know, I held onto mine for 5+ years as it was perfect pocket size. I come from an era where a phone is a phone vs a super computer.lol. Miss my easy to hold phone be these massive almost always ready to slip giant phones. Silly world we live in.
I'm worse. I have just an i5. Spectrum did the data transfer and they missed a lot of data. 1.45 hours just to get to the counter. Then another 45 minutes to get the transfer done. I was late and pissed so didn't have to check all the data. Nobody can do their job right anymore.
ultimate!!: went to EE shop to upgrade - I was asked what phone I had - 5s I said & showed - he looked at the condition of it and it’s cover - hmm.. he said ‘it looks something like it - r u sure’!! 😂

Did you have to change or update your plan with your carrier? Do they just simply update it
Hey Angel, I did have to update my plan from 5 years ago. But the main thing is that my old SIM card wouldn’t work so I needed a new one that was supposed to be in the box. You also need to call in and the carrier needs to activate the phone or nothing u do can activate it. When #Telus sent me phone, they shoulda given a “what is next steps”. My only issue.
What if your phone is unlocked.
Hii I just got iphone 12 pro max and my current iphone is iphone 6, I'm having trouble to even begin the transfer because my old phone has iOS 9 and i am not able to update it due to space issues and such, this is an issue because the transfer initial pop up thing requires the old phone to have atleast iOS 11 to show up, what should I do? I want to at least have my notes transferred from my old phone to the new one :/ at this point it feels like wishful thinking to think everything can be transferred as most my apps are old versions
I had the same issue. I went into Settings and then Manage Storage (or something like that). It lets you see and delete unnecessary things like attachments in text messages. I then deleted old text conversations with people I don’t even speak with anymore. Transfer all your photos to your PC in a safe file (outside of iTunes or save to iCloud) then delete from phone. Also make sure to delete Recently Deleted Photos. Little by little chip away until you can update the iOS software.

My iCloud storage has been full for a very long time and hasn't been backing up anything so I'm not sure if I need to buy iCloud storage for the month only just to back it up and if so how much storage will I need to buy

No Wi-Fi or a cable are your only options
So I'm assuming you set up wifi on the new phone before you did all of this?
Naw, it uses Bluetooth with Airdrop. Like when u send photos back and forth directly.

That’s a good question. Not sure cached log ins stay the same. I’d hope that you do for security of the process.

I’d call apple support 1-800 number.
Did you have to verify your WhatsApp account again or it worked just fine on the new phone?
I cut WhatsApp from use 2 years ago when Facebook was revealed publically for unethical business practises towards humanity. Use Signal or Telegram and you can keep your data private.
