    I met Russel at the hotel in Uvalde Friday evening and Clay at the match Saturday. These two guys are great ambassadors of the shooting sports and go a long way to making Cortina Precision a recognized organization

    "It's a slightly undersized shaft so it will fit in most holes"
    Sorry I laughed about this statement

    I'm a machinist by trade and I believe it would be much safer and kinder to the metals involved if you clamped your barrel much closer to the action. There is an amount of twist in the metals when things are tightened together, so the closer the items are together , the truer the torque. Also would recommend a nickel never seize. It's friendlier to the dissimilar metals .

      Wow, I just reread my comment and I'm sure it sounded to you kinda insulting. I'm sure you have torqued your barrels like that hundreds of times.,.... All I was trying to say is there may be a little better way. I reverently watch your videos and am in amazement of how you shoot, so I know you are going for perfection. And maybe an old machinist might have a tip that will help. Anyway, thanks for the response.

    Thanks, John. It's an excellent video as always, question though. How do you make sure headspace is correct or all your barrels turned to the same specs?

    At $50 per head, it's not saving you much. I'm more impressed with the vise. Much easier and faster than a two-bolt vise. But no more than I have to tighten a barrel down in a vise, mine works fine. If you buy at the latest and greatest, you can spend a small fortune.

    Clamping your vice down so far out on the barrel and torqueing on it makes me cringe 😯😄 Nice set up though.

    I noticed your using the same Tuner between barrels ... How repeatable are they when swapping like this?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  Před 7 měsíci +1

      In my experience they’re super repeatable. I’ve moved tuners around quite a bit over the years and no issues.

    What torque wrench do you recommend? Thanks!

      In general I think the Fix iT Sticks work great. I use the Borka www.borkatools.com but he's had supplier issues.

    That action wrench wont take off any factory barrel like remington 700. John is always bringing good stuff to the channel but this wrench brakes easly and SAC wont warranty the product. They charge good money for a product that bakes and wont warranty buyer beware. Dont belive the hype
