I have so many tools ... lying in my shelves that I don't need afterwards. You can do that when you have too much money. As for the product, I have to say - I solved that easier and better. And cheaper too. Thanks for the introduction and the effort. Thumbs up for the video - not for the tool

Still have to put your setup on the gun first to get eye relief and so on, and then you have to take it off and mount it on the jig. I still would want to double check it on the rifle...It does seem like a nice piece of equipment.

Just saw this today. I ordered one a couple days ago. The whole idea of it is to get your scope level to earth. I use to use the plumb bob / flashlight through the scope mode. This is so much better and you should watch their videos on it and you will completely understand it then. Dean

It's a weird deal. It goes to a great length to eliminate variables, and then you put it on a rifle and hope the machining on the rest of the rig is perfect. It seems like the bermuda triangle of diminishing returns.

I'm with you, never did understand the point of it when looking at the SAC site, thank you for explaining, another bit of kit I do not need :-)

As John says, this is a tool for those who mount scopes often. It's a quick and accurate way to level a scope without having to pull out a rifle. If you mount a scope once in a while, you won't realize its benefits. There are two components that John has, the Final Scope Level and Multi-Base. There are a lot of features built into the two to make them modular and work with other Short Action Custom tools. I have both along with their Modular Barrel vise and wrenches and they make great tools for those who work on rifles often.

what if the rail on the gun is off to the left or right and not centered with the bore , then the further out you shoot the further to the left or right your impact so shouldnt the scope be turned so it is centered with the bore of the individual rifle ? i know your receivers are true but all factory guns are not? and im sure most are not completely true because i have sighted in a many rifle powder and pellet at say 50 and then at 100 be 2 to 3 inches left or right and by pellet gun i dont mean the kind at walmart i mean the kind that are MOA at 100 and cost a lot more than 99 bucks

Go buy a decent pic rail mounted bubble and use a plumb bob. Nothing is as effective and efficient. Coming from a guy who's had a few scope leveling kits/aids.

Been thinking about picking of these up to level my reticles. I have a plumb bob set up in my basement that I use the flashlight trick with. As of now I just set my scope on a rear bag rest.

Stupid question of the day, how do you see that bubble through the elevation turret? I've tried several types and haven't found a style that I like.

While I do see the benefits of everything level, once I’m at the range and set up on the target, I cant the rifle to match the target. I level the scope to the target because the target could be off. If I’m wrong, please correct me. Thanks for the videos, they are helpful as usual.

Are digital levels more precise than bubble levels?

Did you have the jig bolted loosely to the base plate that was in the vice?

An odd question, since doing this to your scope, have you needed to adjust your windage while shooting?

Interesting... John, if you want to do a short road trip. I'm up in Forks,Wa. We have a small heated shed for some short range Benchrest.

Thanks for another great video John. After watching this, I just see this as a useless step. I can mount my rifles in a good gun vise and get the same results. With the proper eye relief, all at once. But...A thought crossed my mind where this could be very useful. I believe that, with a long enough string on the plum bob,, a person could check the elevation of the tracking in a scope. Before mounting on the rifle. What are your thoughts on it?

I always level to the firearm.
