- FIRST LOOK: The Silverado EV RST is here and Chevrolet is bringing their best. On the outside of the RST you will find 24in wheels, an e-trunk, folding mid-gate and tailgate. On the insider is a 13in infotainment system, panoramic glass roof and tons of passenger space. Powering the RST are (2) electric motors producing over 700HP! Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST the KING of full size trucks?

Love how these EVs prices just go up and up while they are saving huge on parts. Engine, trans, pumps, hoses, wires, exhaust, and the list goes on… gotta love America.
Research, development, employees union, and greed. That about covers it...

@@jondirive Yea blame the working mans unions not the way over paid executives for all the high prices. Greed is spot on though, R&D should not be that high but that falls under an excuse for covering their greed.

Must have got a little extra in the paycheck for his lavish praise of this vehicle. Not that good, and it will be like the Ford 150 EV - pull something and you might get down the block before having to recharge.
Not really a big fan of this Avalanche EV posing as a Silverado, but I dont hate it either. Joe you always have a great style in describing the different features various vehicles and it shows here again with this Silverado EV. Good job.
I Agree...But can we agree the this isn't a 100K truck? The pricing on these trucks has gotten insane. This is legit Escalade price!

The first view of that red / blue stitching on the passenger side dashboard struck me - that looks sloppy crooked to me. But hey, what do you expect for 100k right? Looks like another great vehicle for local doctors to haul their golf clubs. 😂

@@lancelemay6971 They know its pre production. He even said it and hoped they’d have a sun shade in the production version. Reviewers understand pre production will have faults.
@@Kenyon712 pre production usually means, this vehicle may have features or lack features making it different from the final production vehicle. It does not imply low quality sloppy construction in any way. A show vehicle being demonstrated to the public should be the pinnacle of what the manufacturer is capable of.

I'm a Ford guy, but of the Big 3 EV trucks, this one is my favorite so far. It looks the best, and it easily holds three bananas.
$100K is ridiculous, though.
I was third on the pre order list at my local dealer and they wanted 130k. Cancelled it right away.
I totally concur. Prefer Fords myself but this Chevy EV is nicer than the Lightning and I would love to have it in my driveway, but with the price of either, who can afford these trucks?

I believe these aren’t the base model though and that is why it’s more expensive. For example, some reviewers have the 4WT(work truck edition) as the model they have but that one is a higher end model. The base model is a 1WT. So I think this is the higher end rst model

Another excellent video Joe. Again, I'm liking Chevy's version of the EV truck. Looks very well thought out in design. But I get it, EV's are not for everyone. But this version with it's range and quick charging is more doable with most people. Just have to get that purchase price down....

Same thing happening again. ICE is a dead tech - every CEO of every auto company basically admits it.
They just need to build charging stations across America so you can take these things on a trip.

@@mocheeks709 Bruh if I can travel across the country on an old EV with a 100 mile range, you can definitely do it with 250-500.
This 'RST' model is, of course the top of the line with ALL the options, etc. So, it's priced way too high but, let's see how the "Work Truck" comes in with features and price. Pick-ups for a mere $17,000 nicely equipped are a thing of the past or so it seems as we go into the future with them, right? And let's see how the price holds up for used ones later on, if at all.

Nope, nope! He said GM told him it wasn't anything like the Avalanche. Except it had the unibody thing, mid-gate thing, sloping rear sail panels... Yeah, it's the spiritual successor to the Avalanche.
They look awful
Chevy did a perfect job with the design of this truck. I like how it looks similar to a traditional Silverado but with enough distinguishing differences to make it stand out. It does kind of remind me of the Avalanche with the way the roof line swoops down to the bed. One thing I can appreciate about an EV truck is the frunk since storage is always the biggest issue with a pickup. I watched a video of the new ZR2 Bison before this video and even as someone who loves a big V8 I prefer the looks of this truck inside and out.

Thank you for the video. It does look amazing, wish it was in a lower price point. Does the rear window come out? Where is it stored? With it being a 60/40 split it obviously doesn't go up and down. This was one of the negatives of the Avalanche (since most are comparing it to the Avalanche).

An optional after market canopy ( hard or soft cover ) for the tray area could also be useful. That could convert it into a camper van.

@@RaitisRides Well that’s good news! People really gave them hell for the limited production of earlier Ultium releases like the _Lyriq_ and *Hummer.* Now they’ve had some time to work out bugs, I think 2024 will be a huge year as far as production goes for *gm* to massively produce these vehicles.
Love the styling of this RST. However, those running boards stick out like a sore thumb. They look cheap. For $100k it should come with power steps.

I think EV's will help the restaurant industry big time. Because if you're on a road trip and need to charge for a half hour to 45 mins, just get off the freeway and find a sit down restaurant and charge up. You would do that anyway on a long road trip. Or you could charge at a walmart or Target and walk around the store for 15 or 20 mins and get a half charge that way. Better yet, shop around mom and pop stores and help out the old school brick and mortar retail joints and help that industry out. I can see the future but the infrastructure has a long way to go before these become the norm. Not to mention, get these vehicles around 40 to 50k and people might buy them.

My goodness is that a good looking truck. In terms of styling between that and the Lightning, there is no contest to me!
from another reviewer, the door panels actually have symbols to what you can put there. One is marked for umbrellas and the other two slots for bottles. But this is one slick looking truck and the range out paces Ford for theirs apparently.

I have been buying Chevy 1500 WT trucks for 20 years, and using them successfully for our growing, property Rental business.
The RST trim looks absolutely awesome!!
Even for my small, but quickly growing business, that $100K price point is steep, for me.
I look forward to other Chevy EV 1500 Truck Trims, maybe in 2025 or 2026, that are more in the $50,000 to $80,000 range.

All I'm thinking is the back seats must have done added protection to prevent stuff in the truck bed from killing the driver and front passenger if they get rear ended. Like if they're moving some rebar or metal pipe there better be protection to prevent impalement in an accident.

It adds a lot of cost because the body is one piece instead of two, so it can't flex, which means more structure is needed. The flying buttresses are also really annoying if you are in your bed a lot.

This truck makes the Ford and RAM look like rebadged half assed jobs. This truck’s design alone justifies its price, when you consider the luxury and technology it offers above the others it’s a no brainer. For their first generation Silverado EV to obtain over 400 miles of range is super impressive! The mid gate and Multi-flex bed extender are genius together.
