  • Got a rearview mirror that falls off periodically? In this video I show an alternative way to mount it that so far has worked great.
    Epoxy I used: amzn.to/3Ocy9ef
    #wjhandydad #epoxy #DIY
    www.WJHandyDad.com
0:00 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor 2010 P7B
    0:40 mark the glass location
1:26 failure point seems to be the mirror button not the glass
1:55 clean glass thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol IPA
2:21 how do you remove the mirror button
    3:24 scrape the button clean
4:20 sand with 80 grit sandpaper to scuff the metal
5:09 clean the mirror button with isopropyl alcohol IPA
    5:25 different rearview mirror adhesives
6:35 my tip for using the Gorilla epoxy
    7:35 prep with painters tape
8:24 apply epoxy to mirror button
9:05 mount mirror button with epoxy and painters tape
10:02 cure for at least 24 hours
10:20 temperature needs to be cool - probably 50-70 degrees F
11:47 mount the mirror to the button

I have an '02 F150 I have had for about 10 years and have had my mirror fall off at least once a year, if not more often.
Have used several rear view adhesives and some last longer than others, but have all failed. Redid it about a month ago, and will see how it holds, but if it fails, may give this a try.

knock on wood... so far it's holding up and we had a couple triple digit temps this year. I'm not sure if changing to the epoxy or moving it on the windshield was the "secret" since I did both, but I'm happy thus far!

I am in the Houston area, so understand the heat and sun issues.
I have even gone a far as taking my dremel and cutting some little groves in the button hoping it would adhere better, since like you, it seems to stick to the glass but not the button.

hope you're OK and safe from the flooding. We've had terrible rain and flooding, but nothing like what Houston has had. Lake Waco rose more than 10' in one day this month!
