Very well explained! Thanks
This was very helpful. Can’t believe how simple it was. Got the machine working again right away. Thanks.
That’s great! Glad it was helpful! I’m assuming your getting the snowstorm in the Northeast right now. Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
Very helpful video. I was having trouble getting the plug cover off. After I saw your video I just gave it a gentle tug with my needle nose vice grips and off it came. Replacement was a breeze. My plug came pre gapped. I added some anti seize compound to the threads for ease of renewal next time. All in all after I saw you video the job took me 5 minutes. Thanks again, btw I liked the video and will Subscribe.
That’s great! I’m glad the video was helpful! Be sure to check out my other snowblower maintenance videos also if you are interested! Thank you for the thumbs up and for subscribing! I appreciate it!

Thanks a bunch, prob saved me a couple $100
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was able to save you some money!
Thanks it really helped me!
Thank you for watching, glad you found it helpful!
I've been doing about 40 hours on my snow blower, removed the spark plug and the gap was still perfect. Mine needs to be at 0.7 to 0.8mm (equivalent to 0.02-0.03 inch). I measured 0.8mm after 40h of operation. Just for the sake of it I did bend a little the electrode to bring it to 0.7mm but a spark plug should last a lot of years unless you have a huge drive way. Most online sites say to replace the spark plug every year, that sounds ridiculous even if it's cheap. Get a gauge, measure, replace when needed but you can also adjust the electrode a few times.
Great video! The only thing I would have done is added some anti-sieze grease on the threads and some dielectric grease on the ceramic part of the plug or the rubber gasket that goes on it.
Thank you for watching and for the compliment!
Great video. Thank you! Question...I noticed the spark plug box has "7131" under BPR6ES. What does 7131 mean? I see other similar BPR6ES plugs with other 4 digit numbers such as 4008 or 6775. Does this number mean anything? Thanks.
Why the EFF didn't I think to use a ratchet?? My snowblower came with a "tool" to remove the spark plug, but for the love of heaven I couldn't budge the spark plug. Thanks for the information about the 13/16th socket as well. I was trying to start my snowblower today 12/4/2022 to be prepared for the upcoming snow, but I just couldn't get it to turnover. I know it is spark plug (I syphoned out the old gas). Thanks for the upload!
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it was helpful if even for suggesting using the ratchet and the for the socket size. Good luck with the upcoming snow!
like the new channel name
Thanks!
Very helpful video thank u 👏🏼👏🏼. Do you have to calibrate the new spark plug?
It’s a good idea to check the spark plug gap before installing. Thank you for watching!
I'm going to be changing the spark plug on my troybilt snow blower and wondering what gap did you set it too or was it properly gapped when you purchased it? Thanks for the video.
The proper gap for the spark plug is .02-.03 inches. I checked the gap before I installed the plug and it was within spec. I should have mentioned this in the video! Thank you for watching, also check out my other snowblower maintenance videos if you are interested and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
Thank you, this was concise and straightforward. Did you pre-gap the plug?
Thank you for watching and for the compliment! I checked the gap of the spark plug before installing it and should have mentioned that in the video. Please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
@@5MinuteFixit So what is the gap? You keep saying you should have mentioned it but didn't. LOL
@@rvnmedic1968 .02-.03 in.(0.60-0.80mm)
I know how to change spark plug on these engines because I have done it before, but I may go with E3 Diamond Fire Spark Plug.
How often should one change the spark plug?
Hello. Did you have to gap the spark plug before installation or was it pre-gapped to the proper specs?
I checked the gap of the plug before installing it and it was within spec. I probably should have mentioned that in the video. Thank you for watching!
Having trouble just pulling the wire out,any ideas? Thanks!! It's only 2 years old
The wire should come off with a firm twist and pull, the spark plug boot sometimes will have a suction like force holding it on that needs to be overcome. Also try rocking it back and forth to break the suction. Thank you for watching, hopefully this helps!
I have a spark plug socket but it isn't deep enough? The bottom of the socket doesn't connect to the bottom of the plug so it doesn't turn the plug. Do they make longer sockets? Even a spare spark plug I have for my lawn mower doesn't fit all the way into the socket? Is that normal?
Spark plug sockets have a boot that grips on to the spark plug...maybe there is something lodged in there or maybe the socket isn’t pressed on far enough? Hopefully this helps, thank you for watching! Please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
@@5MinuteFixit Thank you - it was indeed the rubber boot - it was slight off and wasnt allowing the socket all the way in - I fixed it with a flathead...thanks for the video I liked it already!
@@george-cann that’s great, glad you fixed it!
Having trouble getting spark plug boot back on. There seems to be a rubber piece around the spark plug that may have come off from inside the boot? Can I just force it back in? Doesn't seem real snug.
It could be the boot from the spark plug socket...check that first.
@@5MinuteFixit There seems to be a rubber boot inside the spark plug socket as well. Are there two? Don't know what it originally looked like inside the spark plug socket.
I would take off the rubber boot on the spark plug and put the wire back on to see if that works.
@@5MinuteFixit Thanks! Will try that.
Thank you for watching! Please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
Had to take the metal cover off to gain correct angle ..
I have the same unit. I cannot get that damn wire/boot back on to save my life. it was a b**** to get off and now wont snap back on
If you used a spark plug specific socket check that the rubber “boot” didn’t stuck to the top of the spark plug preventing the wire from being able to snap back on. This has happened to me before.
Where did you buy the spark plug?

You don't have to gap it when you replace it?
The spark plug (if I remember correctly) I bought was pre-gapped but I probably should have mentioned to check the gap in the video.
@@5MinuteFixit Ok. Thanks for the response. Now, I need to find a video on how to do that
Whats the trick to get the cap off. Mine won't come off
The spark plug wire should just come off, sometimes they are just a little stubborn and just need to be worked a little to come off. Hopefully this helps! Thank you for watching and please consider giving the video a thumbs up if you haven’t already! Thank you!
@@5MinuteFixit yea I had to take a some players to get a proper grip, could get my hands in underneath the shroud
@@scumbagsteve5029 gotcha but you were able to get it off?
@@5MinuteFixit yes I was, after I saw you just prying it off I realized I didn't have to be so gentle with it.
What about the gapping of the plug?
I did check the gap of the plug and should have mentioned this in the video! Thank you for watching!
I cant even get the plug wire to remove off the plug
Did you have any luck, sometimes these plug wires can be very stubborn and other times they quite literally fall right off when touched. Thank you for watching!
Yep. Got it! Plus i watched another video. Found out i wasnt getting fuel due to build up in carb. Tore all apart cleaned every orifice and piec. Now it runs like a top.
