Big block Ford dilemma... we need to cut the frame, floor, cowl, and firewall 😐

- We're ready to mockup the big block 460 Ford engine so that we can see how far back it needs to be mounted in the car to resemble the Hot Wheels toy. There's going to be some serious slicing and dicing needed to make it fit which means mega amounts of fabricating. This is ALL because Bad Chad wants it to look exactly like the Hot Wheels toy , which has the engine mounted back in the cowl/firewall 😐

All your interested on is were the air cleaner sits modifi the air cleaner so it sits back were you want it and keep motor forward then you don't have to cut frame and motor sits better
Put the motor where it goes make it adapter to put the air cleaner where you want coming through the hood
I don't think Hot Wheels thought of that.
Hey Chad, you can use a remote location oil filter kit. Not that expensive and really handy when room is tight
Don't worry about the oil. It will not be driven for any number of reasons.
Think they should call the shop - Knuckle head garage !!! Sometimes it’s hard to watch 🤯
Thanks for letting us sit in as the live studio audience. It was cool to see what it's like in the shop on a day to say basis.
I agree the motor doesn’t need to set so far back
If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Your hard work will pay off in the end !
I just want to say ... I love that Chad is allowing some of his fans / friends to stop in & stay during WE'RE ON AIR ' ...because it means SO MUCH to these ppl who have traveled far .
All depends on whats going on in the shop at the time of coarse , but if things are kinda slow that day ...why not . Makes it for a more interesting show ...especially like buddy who stopped in yesterday & was impressed of everything in the New big shop
We planned our visit to be after 3, but they hadn't finished up when we got there, so we got to sit in to watch how the sausage is made!
What you continually refer to as the "Breather" or "Scoop" is what us drag racers refer to as "The Hat".
As they say in New Zealand ..................... '' CHOICE BRO. ''
Àrtist at work great looking 👌
That thing is going to be considered a mid engine car. Put the right tires on it and it will pull a wheelie I'd venture to say.
This is going to be one of the most interesting build yet. You have a great team working with you. Complete builds like this one will make everyone involved thinking about a lot of different ideas and keep them interested in the build.
You can use a remote oil filter and get that out of the way....
I have no doubt that these two will make it happen. and the end result will be awesome.
Now that Chad has made his appearance he can get out of Nathan's way for him to fit the engine.😎Chad can entertain his guests while Nate gets er done!
Sounds like you are trying to minimize Chad's involvement.
@@ronaldmcclellan5266 Just keeping it real. Nathan's got the know how. If I were hiring help Nathan would be top pick. If Chad isn't zip cutting or welding he's lost.😉
1st thing you need to do is get rid of the torque tube rear and replace it with one that takes a regular driveshaft. next you need to cut the X member so the trans can come down.
Chad would lose it if jolene leaves. This is like watching rig it garage.
Congratulations you've just invited all of your audience to come to your shop and watch you work
FINA! WALKED PASS THE CAR LOOKING THE ENGINE BEING INSTALLED! HE SEEN THAT BEFORE, SO WALKS AROUND THE CAR , AND SIT DOWN AND WATCH THE SHOW 😅 THAT DOG IS PRETTY SMART 🤓
BAD CHAD YOU ROCK MAN YES ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bad Chad building a Bad Hot Rod keep up the interesting build!!
You could put the motor down low where it’s under the floor and then put an extension under the blower cap to get it above the hood. That’s the only thing that will show with the hood on right?
I love this build and it's your car to do as you please, but I think the engine is to far back, maybe cheat a hand made scoop that goes back and gives illusion to look like the toy? Either way, great stuff
What a great show, thanks for the whole team that makes it happen
Great idea the way it sits now
You can use the tailshaft for an armrest. Who would have thunk.
You get an A for creativity but a D for planning. They have plastic mockup engines just for this, or you could have used a derelict engine for mockup. You could have easily made a cardboard blower and hat or bolted the real blower onto the derelict engine, which should have been sitting on the mounts before you did ANYTHING on the body, complete with HEADERS, which will probably end up being custom-made (the headers should be done by now). If you had a boss, he'd have chewed you out for this. Sorry Chad but this is a case study of what not to do.
Thats good considering he would give himself a F for planning and a A for getting it done. Well done Chad.
Happy Saturday Bad Chad Nation
Looking like the birth of one epic automobile.
Chad , Jolene and Nate, Team Hiltz is making wonderful progress on installing the Big Block 460 cubic inch V8 . The firewall cutout worked out well. Now it's time to take a step back and let Chad and Nate analyze what needs to be done with the interior floor and the removal of the cross member to lower the engine down 5 & 1/2 inches to it's final location. Then weld in the necessary frame additions. Also Nate mentioned that they also need to build and install the necessary permanent motor mounts to support the massive engine and it's torque. This project progress is so interesting to watch . Thank You Jolene for your excellent filming skills in today's video.
Chad the car looks So Sick already lm Really Excited to see it when it's All finished up . Your Dream Car is an Amazing Ride Brother. Good for you Chad , Keep up the Awesome work .The Car looks Amazing .
The Hiltz Team Will Get This Done ✔ Go For it 👁🐅👌
Chad, if the weight is too high, it will handle like crap. Lower engine and put risers on the supercharger to keep the center of gravity as low in the chassis as possible...😊
Looking good. (Or - should I say, Looking Baaaad".)
It does not look very close to the hot wheels Carr the Carr it cut enough…
I don’t understand why the engine is so far back into the firewall, looks like you would have plenty of room ? Must be something I’m not seeing !
So anyone can just show up unannounced? How cool. I will bring our church group in our church bus - about 40 of us. Do you serve lunch?
Look into getting a oil pan with sump in the back
Don't worry about the darn airplane. That engine need do for down at least a foot to get transmission down where it needs to be .
Car is going to be really cool , looks like a lot of work to shoe horn that engine in
unsafe at any speed when your done
BEST thing you've done as a "channel" letting fans sit and watch live - TOTALLY AWESOME
Chad has a tape measure out !
This car build is exceptional. I like the visual of the 460 with a Supercharger. I suggest put it all together but just don't run any boost. The body and frame will not support full blown torque!!!
A load leveler is a h-frame where the pick point is on a piece of theaded rod so the pick point is adjustable. Not sure where to buy one maybe Summit. Would be a great addition to your picker.
YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANS. LONG TAILSHAFT WITH A SHORT TAILSHAFT.....TOO MUCH POWER FOR THE LONG TS. For someone who has built/raced performance vehicles this is hard to watch...........shew!
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BLOWER EXPLODE? Why would you shove it in the cab let alone all that heat?
Adding more tattoos will cover up the scars.
Going to look KOOL Chad and Nate and Jolene
Its the engine you want chad so do what it takes to fit it
The question is the steering box and steering column is in the way you could solve this problem by putting a rack and pinion in it and different steering column and external oil pump and different pan so the sumps in the back of the motor and move it back forward a little bit more but Nathan will figure it out
BC only uses what"s in his junk yard.
@@georgeleighty2984 that’s one of the main problems. Sometimes you need to spend money to make things right!!!
Now that's my idea of a Hot Rod!
Make sure the engine is level and then line up the transmission output to the yoke on the differential. Relocate the oil filter to a frame rail make sure you have room for the headers.. it's going to be soo cool when it's done..
HELLO BAD CHAD NATION..🐓.in the 🏘.. MAKE A COMMENT & HIT THAT 👍LIKE BUTTON Enjoy today's SHOW.
Here come the rooster yeaaahhhhhhhhh!!! Ya know weeee ain't gonne diiiiiiieeee
Hot wheels hot rod !
Over the top cool -
right on !
I guess once the engine is bolted in it will stop the car flying apart.
Now that's going to be one killer Hotrod! Love it keep on keeping on 👍🏻
Hey Chad you can get a rear sump oil pan for Ford motors. I used one on my truck and it made it so much easier to clear the front crossmember.
This monster you're working on right now what an iconic car who would not want to have one of those aren't you guys in BC I want to get out there and see Mike and Avery but if you guys are in BC too I like to stop by your guyses shop if you don't mind?
wow! That engine is really nice and big
This car is going to be amazing 😎👍
I see we have “ keyboard hot rod builders “ talking trash today 😂😂. No pictures of their hot rod Camrys to share 😂😂
The engine is going look great Chad and Jolene 👍👍
This will be the coolest car ever. It's just a pleasure to watch it all happen...
When i put engines in i have 2 2x10 boards 16 inches long and I put then under the front wheels for clearance for the engine hoist to clear
Y’all should move the shop to the where house get a set of bleachers and charge admission !!! That’s a couple thousand a day !!!
You can relocate the oil filter to the inside of the Front fender or another location in the Front , You can buy the kit for the conversion if the Oil filter poses a Problem Reasonably priced By the way I Love your Show Keep up the Good Work !!!
That's a lot of motor but needs to be a little more forward looks great i think it's going to be really cool
Awesome, Thsanks
What a great team lady and gentleman
Love the Motivation 👍👍👍
AWESOME!
is there a happy medium between too far back and almost too far? Think stretching the visual to allow safety and functionality while keepin it kool
By the time you cut out for the headers it will absolutely cook your feet after a few minutes.
A toy for a little boy doesn't need to make sense. Insisting the Engine position simulate the toy might end up with a nonoperational museum piece.
Engine is TOO FAR BACK
Please pick a good color for the car remember it's a hot wheel . remember hot wheel always have beautiful colors.
Brown
The transmission is not going to fit in between the frame rails
With the engine moved that far back, it will actually run faster on the 1/4 mile. Less frame twisting and much better traction and handling.
Thinking a rear sump oil pan and pickup. rack and pinon .
BAD AZZZZZ…… by BAD CHAD and team HILTZ !! 🤗🤗👊🏼💯🏆🏆🏆
I think the old Ford dealer just going to need a rack and pinion and strut front end I don't think the steering and leaf spring deal is going to work well for you with that engine and transmission set up
Quite a boy that Nathan...due diligence and gung ho to boot...great team member for sure. Nice one guys...tidy project going to look great when it's finished. 👍😂👍
Just go for it, if it does work out, modify, modify, modify.
westport wa.state here , big block with a big old blower. "what could go wrong".
your old man is shining again. he better get those shades back on. looking mighty bright.
After watching this tell Chad I don't know if I want to do it or not but you done a good deal
Fits like a glove, have to name the car OJ though, haha.
It's goin to be a monster....haaa...lovin it....cya tomorrow
Tape a paint stick to the marker...then use the transmission as a guide for the floor cut out.
Bam 😮 smarter than the average bear. 😊
Keep the engine up high so the blower is showing out of the hood. Then you'll need to run a tranfercase to put the driveshaft down low. Hope the frame does'nt get in the way. Good luck, I like it!
Hey Chad Jolene and Nait. Chad I have always said “shinny paint causes stress “
Nate has an idea what your looking for get out of the way start filling the body out
And how's the Hudson doing, going to be able to park it right next to it?
Wow, just wow. Skills are going to be used a lot. It shows.
Take the drive shaft off.
You guys do amazing work
How will you change spark plugs? Pull the engine I guess.
Looks like a tighht squeeze eh ? Well its nibble time and cut and chop and wiggle it in .time ! Theyll get it done the Hiltz team are relentless wheen its got to go in ! They always find a way ! So lets eat
Ike its eggs and get cracking !
I think I would just cage it at this point😎
Looking at that configuration,I think that oil pan with the sump to the back would offer a lot less complications
I don't think, I have ever seen something so bad ass in my life. Make it so, number one. Be well.
Wow what a lot of work a head of them.
