    A flawless demo of the range of 22LR ammo. It would be really helpful for new shooters. My CZ452 goes well with CCI standard, is outstanding using anything German for serious target shooting, and likes Velocitors when being hyper for hunting. (I've heard the longer cased Stingers are not so good for rifles like the 452/455 that have a match chamber). I've found the point of aim is roughly about the same for Quiets at 25m as it is for standard at 50m and for Velocitors at 100m. 22LR Pistols can be a bit finnicky; sometimes only liking one velocity type, but Rugers and Buckmarks seem fairly tolerant.

    Your videos are excellent, very informative, and well produced! Thank you for your efforts. The lead-in sequence is completely unnecessary however, and is tedious to endure. For those of us who desire to watch your productions, having to go through that same thing every time in order to get to the body of the video gets very old in a hurry. I know it's a trendy thing, but as GK Chesterton said, dead things go with the stream, but only living things go upstream. Your production would be greatly enhanced by a simple smile and a welcome.

      Unfortunately not everyone agrees as I've had countless people tell me how much they enjoy the intros, so you just need to skip them if you don't like them. It's the same with a handful of people who don't like a particular type of music I use or they don't like a camera angle. I can't please everyone and if I stopped doing the intros (even not all of my reviews have them), I'd have people complaining about that too. So my motto is fairly simple, I do the reviews how I see fit and if people don't like them, there's nothing I can do to please everyone, they can either skip the part they don't like or not watch them at all, as I'd just keep going around and around in circles trying to please everyone...

    Just for the record, we use the CCI Quiet-22 to dispatch problem racoons/possums on the ranch when the dogs have treed them. Yes we are close ish range (within 10 yards) and we are taking headshots, but they do put them down in a single hit. I have used them for ground squirrels and rabbits out to about 75 meters with success, but the accuracy does suffer at that range.

  • @leftcoaster67

    My first carbine is a .357 Henry Big Boy Steel lever gun. My first .22LR is a SW22 Victory. CCI Mini Mags work best, CCI Blazer 22LR, and then Federal Champion. Not sure whats available in Australia. RWS and Eley is very expensive might as well fire centerfire.

  • @keithfreeman5204

    Each and every firearm will shoot a specific ammo. Go pick-up several brands and types of 22 ammo. Then simply go to the range and shoot.
    My 581s likes SV and my 10/22 likes Aguila. I know this 'cause I went to the range and shot them and a bunch of other ammo, SV and some of the hyper stuff.

    we needed holes in keg fire drum. 22 hornet @30M penetrated one side only. 243 occasional 2 sides. @ 100M both sides with 22 hornet. Is there an explanation? the Z's knocked the bottle over, standard didn't. There seems to be a lot of science on how the energy works on impact.

  • @chrismoody1342
    @chrismoody1342 Před 3 lety

    It is my understanding is that subsonic ammunition is the most accurate for target shooting. The high velocity ammo is not as accurate as the slower stuff. Here is reason explained to me, the high velocity ammo is above the speed of sound creating a Mach wave and it quick falls to sub sonic speeds about 60 to 80 meters out from the breech. As the bullet falls below the sound threshold the super sonic shockwave collapses behind the projectile and disrupts the smooth slipstream creating drag and turbulence affecting airflow around the protective leading instability.
    With all that said some subsonic will not have enough recoil to cycle semiautomatics reliably , it is better suited to single shot bolt action firearms.

  • @robcullen9984
    @robcullen9984 Před 6 lety

    Hi Oz , if you get a chance grab a couple of boxes of american eagle suppressor and see what you reckon, i have been using these and the 101 loves them, Very Quite round and at 970 fps they are 100fps down on the standards but i have been getting insane grouping with these up to 50 yards with the odd flyers and doing better than a lot of the off the shelf standards.
    After trying bucket loads of different ammo im settling with Eagle suppressor, SK standards and federal hunter for SS.
    Ps , itred CCI coppers and this gun hates them, spraying over 2 ft at 75 metres -no crap
    keep up the good work
    cheers

    Do you find that if you shoot crappy ammunition out of very precise rifles you can still achieve sub moa or at least decent groups given you have something like a Olympic rifle and the skills?

    • @ozziereviews
      @ozziereviews  Před 7 lety +3

      Not really, if you use stuff like Remington Thunderbolt, it will soon clog up your rifle and it shoots terribly regardless of what rifle you use it in... some cheaper ammo can be very accurate but you don't go for the rock-bottom ammo as it just won't perform. So stick to a level and don't go under it basically

    This is why we 22 rimfire shooters have about 2 to 20 rifles. It’s so we do not have to keep adjusting sights for different applications. Just joking, we buy these rifles because we really like them and there different looks and mechanisms and yes 22 rimfire is leathal with the right choice of ammunition and with in its reasonable range.

    I've shot hundreds of Rabbits with 7.33gr pellets traveling at 800 fps.. Absolutely nothing in comparison to those 22 quiet rounds. They'd be absolutely fine for hunting Rabbit within 35 yards with head shots only. Would just be like an FAC rated 22 air gun.
