Mike, this morning I am taking the upper shaft apart, I placed the unit in the spanner wrench
before I removed the Nut I wanted to test the pre-load, I held the bearings with my hand and used a inch pound tester and found that the pre-load was (0), zero, no pre-load, do you have any idea what would cause that? My first thought was the person that worked on it before
may have used the old washer. It's the same unit you're working on, 1986 3.7. I'm taking it apart to replace the old oil seal.
    thanks Gary from Ohio.

Good morning Gary, we appreciate you reaching out to us. Do you have the original/standard bearing set that requires just the inch-pound torque or do you have the newly designed bearing set shown in this video that requires a rolling resistance preload?
If you have the the original/standard bearing set, testing the pre-load will be off and inaccurate. Keep us posted.
      😁👍🧰

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thanks for getting back to me Mike,
yes, I have the original/standard bearing set.
Dose the preload rolling resistance become less and less with use and age?

Thanks for the reply. Not as much as you would think however with the standard/original bearing set, the nut will be torqued to approximately 70-85 ft lbs depending on your exact model drive.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thanks Mike, just took the gears a part and found the seal has worn groves in the shaft, so I order a new press in seal
and the short yoke, thanks to your videos I got the part no's from you.
      thanks again.
