Access to Diabetes Care: If Not Now, When?
World diabetes day was created in 1991 by IDF & WHO, in view of growing concerns about health issues of people living with Diabetes. November 14th was chosen as world Diabetes Day (WDD) as it the birthday of Sir Frederick Grant Banting the Discoverer of Insulin.
Diabetes is a silent debilitating scourge with 1 billion people in more than 160 countries. Blue Circle Logo is global symbol for Diabetes awareness and signifies the unity of the Global Diabetes Community.
World Diabetes Day Campaign is for improving the lives of people with Diabetes and its complications, so to Improve Detection, Diagnosis and Treatment to reduce mortality.
Aim is to treat early and adequately with self-care essentials for staying healthy to protect tomorrow.
Walkathon, an initiative by Dr. Anil Gomber, every year since 15 years. Raising an awareness on Diabetes impact and its complications from head to toe in many ways like Retinopathy, Heart Attacks, Kidney Diseases, Neuropathies, Sexual disfunction and over all infections and ageing in the people living with Diabetes.
Access to Diabetes care is a fundamental Right with Tens of Thousands of people with Type 1 Diabetes who need Insulin to survive and more than 30 million with Type 2 diabetes who require Insulin do not have access to reliable and affordable supply. A paradigm change in the availability of newer efficacious anti Diabetic Molecules is another right of people living with Diabetes
