    Not done the comparison, but have to say after a few months with The Theater. It is a really strong image on our ALR screens in strong light, and stunning in dark, using an Nvidia Shield Pro 2022 for SDR (the best upscaler, and fixes no Netflix). • @pp-av
      @pp-av Před rokem +1

      Yes, ALR does create better blacks in low level light, but not pitch black. On a purely scientific note once an ambient light source is introduced there is a loss of blacks, as it increases the blacks decrease, on a footnote ALR PET Screens (CBSP Material) also direct the light source and focus the reflective light from UST technology better to the viewing position than a plain white screen (creating an over all stronger looking picture), but unless your wallet is large 120" is max.

The only thing the Formovie had over the AWOL was price and dark levels and AWOL sent out a request a week ago for 10 beta testers to test their black levels firmware update. I love a company that listens to their users.
      Came out with no 3D, users demanded it, they added it. At 3500 lumens, black levels are a bit harder to contain, users spoke about, they created an update. That was enough to convince me.

The 2500 is plenty bright for the average room. I do wish they would allow one to turn off the bright swirling colors at boot like you can the music. I know they are just trying to show off the brightness but it's a bit blinding and after the first 100 times is a bit annoying. The only other thing is the FireTV has a problem finding the remote with the stick stuck inside in the back, or maybe it's the FireStick that is the issue, not sure. I think you are mistaken if you think the image looks more natural. At 3:50 I think that bright green grass behind Will Smith on the right hand image looks far too saturated, not remotely natural looking. Look at the trees at 3:51!

    Good comparisons ATT ... thanks! The new UST Phillips Scenaro5 coming next March looks like blowing both out of the water on its preorder price of £1468 (48%off) alone... and with both DV and DA and 3D included too!. It is, however, using the future industry 'lumens' rating system (something like DSM or IMS ? - I can't remember sorry) which states its 2200 lumens. Any thoughts on this beast would be fab please! Cheers!

      @@kmakjop hi Phillips i read somewhere that they are using the soon to be industry standard of lumens rating so the 2200 stated maybe higher when compared to ANSI . Just a thought! Must admit it is a bit of a mare in trying to pick the best one to go for ... but based on price alone and mainstream features the Phillips could be a winner. Cheers.

      The contrast isn't even half as much as the Formovie Theater and lower brightness. The only advantage it has is price which with Dolby Vision is really not bad. In a light controlled room the Formovie is still much better than anything else on the UST market currently. The only projectors better are overhead units like the 5050UB Epson and JVC's beyond that.

      I'll play Devils advocate:
      People often save and buy a high quality TV or projector first then try to get by with the built-in speakers until they can get a good set of speakers/surround sound to pair with it.
      Why? Plenty of reasons. The first is that they could have just moved into a new place or got their own place and want something for entertainment but also don't want to have buyer's remorse from getting something cheap "just to get by". This plays into the second which is that people realize these devices last some 10~ years so they try to splurge on something high quality since they will have it for a long time.
      So, hearing the speaker quality still matters to those people, even if it's not necessarily "recommended".

      @@KaoruSugimura I have to agree with @all things tech as far as the built in audio being a factor in buying these projectors. Nobody spending this kind of money on a projector is going to "get by" with the built-in speakers. If you have the money to purchase these, you either already have a A/V receiver and speakers with at least 5.1 surround or will be buying one at the same time as the projector. The only exception I think would be to use the speakers on the front of the projector as a center channel speaker, but I think a dedicated center speaker would still be better.

      The Formovie has had excellent reviews with the Bowers & Wilkins built in speaker. While I will have a 5.1 system, I plan to occasionally use it outside for sporting events and the quality built in speaker will come in handy.
