Speeding up to block the overtake was more dangerous than the overtake itself. Cammer made that situation so much worse than it needed to be.

In Perth I think that’s the default driving style…. Drive at 10 below the limit, then when someone tries to go around you, speed up to 10 above the limit.

@@Big-Show1 You can google it quite easily. Even if you were doing under the limit when someone starts to overtake - if you were to speed up to the limit it would be a fineable offense. Doing in such as manner as this would warrant dangerous driving also.
Speeding up when being overtaken at 1:30 used to be an absolute no-no. It kills people. Now its a thing everywhere. Sure the overtaking car was a lunatic. But she made a bad situation far far worse. She's dawdling. She probably drives like that day in day out blocking traffic. But the second someone overtakes she floors it. Putting the overtaking fool at risk. And the totally innocent people coming the other way. Once they get past she dawdles again. Mental. And Deadly.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's in the 'road traffic' something or other (act, rules, regulations ?) that a vehicle being overtaken must NOT increase their speed. Never heard of it being enforced - easier to raise revenue elsewhere :(

You're absolutely right. I'd go one step further and forbid anyone from merging at all during business hours, they can pull over and wait until everyone on the main road has finished driving. Until then, tough luck!

it's because there's basically no police in traffic anymore, and they ignore 90% of it if they are around. all they care about is speeding and mobile phone use, which they have cameras for, incompetence is ignored
The best thing about watching these, at least in my mind, is the constant changing of talk shows, music, news, banter.. It reminds me of playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and constantly flipping through the stations while speeding around and smashing into shit.

14:14 DC in the wrong? Looks like the white car didn't indicate to turn down the side street. But my dad had a similar accident a few years ago and the insurance company said it doesn't matter if the other person was indicating or not. He is the one pulling out into traffic, and it's his responsibility to make sure the other car is turning or not turning before he pulls out. I'm betting that's what DC's insurance company would have told him too.

When turning into a street, You need to make sure it's clear to complete the turn safely street before proceeding unless their are traffic lights or signs (stop/give way) that govern the behaviour of the oncoming traffic on that street.

It’s an easy mistake to make. I got hit like that and I was upset at the damage but the other driver was apologetic and admitted fault quickly. Bet he never did it again though. Another one is someone on your right indicating left but they don’t turn in.

19:48 - in case it's not obvious from what the cammer says, there's a large roundabout just 200 meters in the direction the cammer is headed. So if they just made a left turn instead of turning right across both directions of traffic, they would have just had a much easier time. This is New Line Road in Dural NSW, and unfortunately you see a lot of traffic regularly in this area trying to turn across the other side instead of just going to to the roundabouts and turning around.
Even without that information, blokes are blocking up both lanes and too impatient to wait their turn, always playing with fate that someone isn't barrelling through. Bet a couple of caravans or boats would be too big for the turn too without nearly jack knifing.

I think everyone in that clip was bad. Cammer merges early and suddenly. Guy going up the inside initially did the right thing and used all the lane, but then used more than that, then the muppet in the trailer thinks traffic flows better if you don't let people merge and then park your vehicle in the middle of the motorway.

And even a regular red light camera wouldn't detect it. I believe there are now some better systems that can follow a vehicle's path through to determine which light SHOULD have applied, but I can't imagine any Australian states spending money on such useful systems.

There is no law that says you can't stop for animals on the road, in fact you could face RSPCA fines for not stopping if you could safely do so (ie deliberately running over an animal. Anybody who rear ends you while avoiding animals or livestock is the driver at fault.
"Safely doing so" includes not swerving if that might cause you to lose control or have a crash with oncoming vehicles, and that is the advice normally given to new drivers but is often misinterpreted.
Large animals *will* damage your car, and it's unlikely the they are going to pay for the damage (jk). In areas where you might expect animals to be on the road (stock crossings, unfenced rural properties) you are liable for the cost of the livestock and will be found fully at fault. Basically, if you go over a cattle grid be aware that you are on unfenced rural property.

@@AnotherDoug It is a merge coming from a side road onto the freeway. Trailer man was being a child by the looks of it unless cammer decided to duck into the merge lane to jump about 5 cars for some reason.
@@EssOneFive It's a merge lane that comes off a freeway petrol station, people are always dicks and try to block off people trying to merge from that left lane, the DC was 100% in the right. People defending the black car just drive like assholes too.

In the first case, you'd have to yield to the other car but in the second, you'd have right-of-way (but only if you're in front when the lines end). Either way, however, courtesy is best. And the cheapest.

DC driver in the wrong but other driver is a tool. People who merge unnecessarily early in congested traffic are just making congestion worse smh... It's simple drive as far as the lane allows then merge

Bit of a confusing way to put it.
~ if there is a line between the lanes (even when the lane is ending), this is alane change and the drvier crossing the line MUST give way to any vehicle in the lane he/she wants to enter
~ if the line between the lanes simply disappears (usually preceded by a "Form 1 Lane" sign), thios is a zip merge and the driver behind must give way to the driver in front.
@@AnotherDoug i assumed that DC merged and completed it a few seconds before Meth-ew tried to change lines without giving way correctly. I believe DC incorrectly said "i'm merging" as he completed the merge before the altercation.

I don’t think the angry douche was in that lane already. Looked to me that he was in the middle lane and both he and the DC were trying to change lanes in to the gap from opposite sides.
Could have let the guy go once he's in front too, but DC driver just couldn't let that happen. Pathetic!
