- Pro evolution soccer was made in 2000 and since then competed with fifa very tightly until 2010. Fifa began to double and triple its sales since then. Konami released Efootball in 2022, the worst game of all time. Then in 2023 they redeemed themselves with a much better launch.
I really miss pro evolution soccer. I've tried my level best to get on with FIFA but simply can't. PES was always more fun and easy to get on with.

For me PES19 always had the most enjoyable gameplay. I don't understand why this version was so unpopular. Maybe because KONAMI lost CL and EL licenses?
I rate PES 2009 to this day because it was my first football game. 2016 and 17 also gave me good times

The reason efootball is so different from the pes games is because it's on a new engine, they rebuilt the game from ground up on unreal engine
golden era of Konami's PES was actually late 90s and early 2000s. starting with ISS/Winning Eleven games from PS1 to WE/PES games on PS2
PES ruled that era, until PES 6. after then, FIFA started to improve with 08 to 11 and totally take over with 12-13-14.
altough FIFA is making same game every year polished with updated kits and rosters since the last 6-7 years, it has no competition anymore

This is it. I can't believe people don't see it. Fifa was bad till 07. Pes 5 and pes 6 was peak pes. Since pes 2008 it began to decline sharply
I recommend Football Life 2024 for PES career mode fans, it's a fan project with original leagues/clubs based on PES 2021.

Apparently the FIFA license does not give you the license to all the leagues. It just gives you the FIFA name. They would have to buy the licenses separately. That is why EA could easily tell FIFA where to get off when they wanted more money for just 4 letters. Konami needs big pockets.
The last good pes was pes 2021 with the euros. With "efootball" 2022 everything went downhill.
Efootball 2022 ruined everything. People still think the player models are trash because of this game and don't bother to give it another try
The golden era was from 03-06 on ps2. PES was always had the better game play. But too many kids liked the licensing and the packs and all that other rubbish which for me personally ruined the game and franchise.

PES 2 for the PS1 is one of the best football games ever, to me it’s that and sensible soccer for the mega drive, I still play both games to this day
As someone who grew up early 2000s playing both FIFA & PES (leaned more FIFA then because it was getting annoying to remember that 'Square" was to shoot instead of 'Circle' lol). I actually would be happy if PES or something similar came out to compete with FIFA! i agree, with the lack of competition; FIFA (EAFC) would begin feel like a recycled game. FUT is fun, and i like the house rules/street features. But i think if PES could get the backing, where they'll be allowed to focus on the mechanics, maybe a few important license. EAFC would have to step their game up!

The reason because EA was a lot smarter to destroy PES, and Konami gave it up very quickly. Konami was very lazy to rescue its game.
Not lazy ..the employees need to be paid and with so much less sales..not even reaching 1 million, they failed and gave up
I think moving on from annual releases to a live service makes a lot of sense for a football game. But that's about it when it comes to positives... in it's present state the game will be dead in few years.

pes 18 gameplay was the best I ever played. Advanced shooting was superb but now Advanced shooting in efootball 24 is now terrible 😳 😕
I just fires up my PES 2018 for the first time in 3 years and it's great. I'm using a file that allows me to have all the official teams, competitions and players and I was looking back at the Nottingham Forest team I took to conquer the world with years in my eyes. They were my boys. 😂

E Football 2022 was indeed the worst piece of crap Konami have ever produced! Utter dogsht so although I'll always be greatfull for 2021, that's it for me! I'm only interested in the Master league, it's a deal breaker for me!
PES was the best football game between in the 2009 - 2013 years and suddenly in the 2014, FIFA became the leader.
Fifa took over most consoles because of fifa 09 and reigned supreme as the more commonly player game ever since. That is just 1000% a fact aswell

I'm really disappointed that they took out the become a legend mode. I used to play FIFA, but I switched to proevolution after a time. And I'll never go back to FIFA. But not having BAL is a huge step backwards IMHO.
But I know everything is geared towards online gaming now and it's all about money.

Great video…I really hope Konami can get back to what made PES great…it would be good to have 3 companies now fighting to get players (2K, EA, and Konami)… I played FIFA 23 and FC24 on gamepass and seeing how they literally just recycle everything from year to year makes me mad confused how ppl can actually spend money on this series

Not true, PES started to decline after PES 06(which was actually their best game), after which their next good game was actually pes 16
For me that's because fifa got waaaaaaay better than pes back then. Pes wasn't realistic, it was arcade football, especially 2008 and 2009. I went then from 2010 to fifa and it was night and day. And i think many people think the same and that's why pes died so quickly. Pes4-pes6 DESTROYED fifa 05-07. It wasn't even a competition. Pes was ways ahead of it's time with these 3 games but then lost track somehow, at least for me.

Maybe its because you young but there is a much bigger backstory.
To start with one of the biggest problem. “seabass” left after 2018. Up until then he was like a senior director or something like that, more or less every success (alot of it) and failure of pes was down to him. He received alot of criticism over pes 2014 and since then there was shakey ground.
Since he left it was very clear that the direction/culture within pes games had changed instantly. Just go look at the 2 trailers…night n day. They begun to want to appeal to more western demographics, they ditched asian pop songs from their menus in favour of indie. Gameplay features were fading away, aswel as player i.d. ….it all became about bridging the move towards myclub n online play.
Seabass i’ll admit was very stubborn. However i strongly feel given the time he would’ve gotten pes back to where it needed to be. Master league was their golden ticket yet yr after yr they never took advantage.
- poor valuations of players compared to real life made transfers feel fake. Or teams having poor transfer budgets when in real life its clear it should be more.
- they took way too long to make their skill moves more fluid and easy to use.
- the integration to the fox engine was also a huge factor, pes 2014 was a shit show for the first 3 months. Ive never seen a worse release. Several big name stars didn’t have real faces and there was this jitter bug that would cause a lag if you had too many players in the box. 😮
i could go on and on. But what i hated was the fact that konami saw seabass as being too technical when in fact the very things that made pes stand out are exactly what fifa has implemented into their newer games.
pes 2014 was their downfall. Even me as a lifelong pes fan it was the beginning when i started to entertain buying both fifa n pes games because i felt pes just were never innovative enough. It took until pes 2016/17 before we saw full 360 degree movement with the left stick…by that point fifa had been doing that for 2-3 years.
