    So I was planning on getting a “New” mower for my small lawn care business, so I found a used 2006 Toro Recycler 22 inch with a Tecumseh engine. I tried cleaning the carb but still didn’t work so we just replaced the entire carb and it ended up working nicely.
    Amazing upgrade from my 1990 19 inch yard machines mower with a little classical 3.5 horse power Briggs engine.

    got a honda hrr2169vka... for 25$. the seller couldnt get the self propel to work and was just sick of it after 2 years.
    took it home, took it apart, and turned out a wood chip was wedged btwn the belt and the transmission. He did try to fix it by taking off the wheels lost the metal gear and the whole assembly that goes on Honda rear wheels.
    parts were around 10$ + shipping = around 20$.
    got the parts, assembled the rear wheel . it started right up and after adjusting the cables the self propel worked seamlessly.
    still , replaced the oil , put gas in - about 5$
    it was only 2 years old at the time and the seller may have used it .. 10x max.
    I now had a nearly brand new Honda HRR216VKA for 50$.
    and have used it for the last 4 years. I LOVE that mower.

    I picked up a barely used snowblower once. Owner said he tried everything but could not get it to run. I think I gave him $20 for it. Even though it was like new, I found the spark plug was faulty. Put in a new one and it started on the first pull. I sold that machine for a few hundred dollars, so it was a great find for me.

    To reinstall the Honda carb and the myriad collection of things that go with it, I use 6m threaded rod into the block and put the pieces on one by one. You could use 2 pieces leave them threaded into the block and with 2 6m nuts and throw those long screws away!! As for that choke system, I usually take the linkage off and turn it into a manual choke.

      Yes, I had an easy fix few years ago. Just cleaned the fuel filter and it worked. I did spend some time checking a few fuel and ignition but again, a clogged fuel filter was the culprit. It only ran when I primed it manually.

    Great video, crazy all that was wrong with it was a bad spark plug. To answer your question, once a year in the fall in October the city where I live has fall cleanup week where they pick up bulk garbage that won't fit in your can. It is an opportunity for people to get rid of any junk, I always go around looking for mowers and other gas powered machines. Back in October last year I scored 6 push mowers and a Simplicity Broadmoor riding mower with a 44" deck powered by a 16HP Briggs and Stratton Vanguard v-twin. The riding mower only needed a new battery and it started right up and runs great, the electric pto clutch even works and the deck works and it drives too. Crazy what people throw away.

    Yes,my dads Honda GX35 powered line trimmer which is 21 years old now had an issue with the spark plug about a decade.ago which just about lead me to believe that it was a carburettor issue which was causing a hard starting issue & it was stalling & running rough.
    I checked the resistance between the outer & inner spark plug electrode with a multimeter when I found out that the spark plug had a short circuit in it so pinched a spark plug from his GX25 powered leaf blower to test it & it ran better.
    Note that there spark plugs are very small & they're a bit fragile so I didn't bother cleaning & regapping the spark plug electrodes so I ordered a new $2 AUD spark plug from China & it's still going good !

  • @b286guy
    @b286guy Před 3 měsíci

    The simple things should definitely be checked first. I learned that the hard way recently with my Toro SR with a GCV160 on it. It developed a weird knock during startup and shutdown toward the end of last season. I couldn’t find anything wrong and started to wonder if something was wrong in the low end of the engine. But I took the flywheel off to check the key, took the blade adapter off to check that key, did a valve adjustment which led to an oil leak (had to replace the cover), and recently ordered a new $32 blade adapter after reading an online post. Still no good and I started looking into replacement engines. As it turned out, one of the three engine/deck mounting bolts was loose. That was it. Tightened up and knock is gone. Can’t believe I didn’t check that first 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Home garage i have a question: i have this project blower and the first problem is thats its a weedeater 25cc blower but the main problem is that the carb gets gas in but wont get in the primer bulb. I know it receives gas because when i take the carb apart, there is a bunch of gas and pressure released. So the primer bulb does not fill with gas. I have cleaned the carb top to bottom and jets to jets but i do not want to buy a new carb and not make a profit, and i am so tempted to drop it off at the scrap yard

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Před 3 měsíci +1

      you've already stated your position, if you can't get the carb to work, and you refuse to get a new carb, then the blower isn't going to get fixed. Either keep it for parts, or pass it on to someone else who'll make a profit on it.

  • @rbarr775
    @rbarr775 Před 3 měsíci

    Nice score! It's odd that an owner who would maintain the engine like that (clean oil, anyway) would discard the mower so easily. The choke is a minus, but I'd bet you get used to it quickly, since Hondas rarely require a 2nd pull to start. That engine should outlive the chassis several times over. Pop an oil seal into the governor shaft to keep the deck clean, the way you like it.
