    Thanks for the in-depth review, I've been thinking of replacing my old, clunky Delorme. Sounds like the Garmin Mini 2 is definitely worth the extra $50!

    excellent video. Answered just about any question I had (and a few I hadn't thought of), without too much "techno-speak" that most people don't understand. Great video cutt-ins of the product to show what you were talking about. I just subscribed- very glad to have found your channel.

    You make a good point which I will follow. I currently have the mini 1 and do not have a Garmin watch, while not terribly efficient, I can do what I needed it to do when I purchased it- send messages, get weather and request help. Unless Garmin offers a buy back program to upgrade to the mini 2, I’ll be sticking with the mini 1. XLNT review!

      a by back program would be good, but unfortunately they dont. could always sell on ebay. thats what i did then upgraded. tanks or watching.

    Solid review, thinking about getting one of these for my solo adventures in and from my camper van. The additional satellites + much longer battery life are big for me to want to get the InReach Mini 2. Thanks!

    Thanks for this review. I was about to buy an Inreach this year, and now I know that it will be an Inreach Mini 2. I am not screening the whole market just to see what I can buy, so I am thankful for this video. I just want to be able to get help, get weather reports and send text messages.

      I have been very happy with the Inreach mini 2. Well worth the upgrade from the mini 1. Weather reports have been pretty accurate as well and always good to check especially when in the mountains

    Thank you for the InReach Mini2 review - do you know if the device can do GPS signal tracking output GPX data but with intervals say every 30 sec. or shorter? I am planning to use this as a photography geotagging device so want to know if it can do a much shorter data tracking and what would be the battery life for such use.

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před 9 měsíci

      yes it can, but you have to manually go in a update how often you want it to record. id personally look at the 67i. its better for gpx but still gives u inreach. just did a vid on it

    The Original Garmin InReach Mini (1), does connect tu de Garmin watch.

    Sounds like if you only need sos and need text for help. The mini 1 is good enough Since half price.

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před 9 měsíci +1

      yep, and the messenger is even cheaper but faster. i just released a vid comparing them.

    Does the Mini 2 send/receive messages faster than the Mini 1? Sometimes it takes a really long time to shoot off a message with the Mini 1.

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před 6 měsíci

      yes it does, since it has more satellites to connect to it doesnt have to wait on the orbit as long as the mini 1 does

    In Canada the mini2 Costs 50% more than the mini1 at current street price...worth considering too

    • @StewartMidwinter
      @StewartMidwinter Před 2 lety

      Not so! On Amazon right now, the original mini is $430 and the mini 2 is $500. That's only 17% more.

    I had Mini 1 paired with Fenix 6X. Allowing to read messages, send presets and SOS. I do not think this is Mini 2 exclusive.

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před 2 lety

      Your correct. There was a update for the mini 1 that allowed pairing with garmin watches

    Any idea how the new Garmin InReach Mini 2 compares to the InReach Explorer?

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před rokem +1

      well the inreach explorer is going to be alot bigger and it is it incorporates full maps to where to where you can use it for navigation and longer battery life.

    What about txting from device if you’re not using a phone. Did they upgrade that at all?

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade  Před rokem +1

      It’s pretty much the same as the original. You have to use the scroll arrows to select each letter and takes long. Best to add preset messages or pair or with a phone

    It doesn't appear as if enough is different to merit creating or buying the new one. Typical Garmin move - create a product with barely a difference from one model to the next and charge more.
    The In-Reach Mini works just fine unless you forget to power down when you stop for the night, and I suspect the same problem occurs with the new one. Of course it runs out of battery if you forget to shut it off when you don't need it.

      The V2 is clearly the better choice for first-time buyers.
