    I agree that the Bonfire would be the best portable to take camping! I have the Yukon 2.0 in my backyard and wouldn't want to go any smaller for a backyard fire pit.

    I went with the 67i. Map, sat com, can use for both overlanding and backpacking. Sure, it’s more bulk/weight but I find relaying on the phone is unwise-at least for me.

    I know these were posted a while ago - but if you had to choose between this, mt angeles, mt storm king - which would you choose? Im erring on NOT mt storm king bc of the popularity now 🤔 and idk how terrified of the land slides i shouls be for this one. Let me know if theres another hike youve done in the area thats similarish in lengths and duration that youd recommend! Weve done mt ellinor and excited to make our way back to this area!

    While the future might bring ubiquitous satellite connectivity for phones, the Messenger & Mini 2 won't be obsolete IMHO since they are way more rugged and have a long-lasting battery thus making them the better choice as a safety device.

      havent tried it that low, ive gotten it to 15 and been plenty warm with just a base layer. There is something special with the alpaca insulation to be way warmer then down given the same weight of insulation.

    Great video. My 8 year old inreach SE got dropped this past week. The screen cover plastic broke and now part of the LCD is unreadable. Works, but the screen is mostly useless. So looking for a replacement and a comparison of the mini2 to the 67i. Thanks

    I have a 2005 liberty. I live in Illinois. I have Maintained it. Always fixed any mechanical or rust issues. I like what you did with yours. I have 259,000 miles and mine drives like new. I'm going to steal some of your ideas. I already have the upgraded roof mounts. I took the back seats out for more storage. I might do the tent and an awing. Thanks for the video

      @@BackcountryRenegade thank you for the offer. I have 3 cross rails so really no need for the rack. I'm considering a tent but I have an elevated (only lightly) sleep platform inside. I take out all but the drivers seat to accommodate this. The height is level with the console. So I have plenty of storage too. I have custom screens that fit the windows also for ventilation with bug protection. So I'm considering a rooftop tent ⛺️ but may go with a rooftop storage box instead.

      If you’re looking for just emergency communication when the grid goes down, I would go with just the messenger because you don’t need any GPS mapping just solid communication and long battery life

    Yo BR, I just watched this great winter video. I’m not really familiar with that area, is the road to the TH typically plowed? Do they allow overnight camping in the forest there?       It is typically plowed and accessible by road only on weekends. most of overnight camping is permit based in designated areas, but that’s usually in the summer. I’m not sure what winter is like for camping in that area.

      basically i use the chain scrubber and water. then paper towels to take off the debris off. Once clean season it with oil.

    Rab states the microlight is a regular fit but it’s a slim fit. I’m a large in Patagonia lightweight down and synthetic jackets and they fit me perfectly. This time I decided to give the Rab microlight Alpine a try due to the great reviews. I ordered a large online and it’s unwearable as it is way too tight across the chest and torso.

      Rab does us EU sizing so you usually need to size up compared to Patagonia. But yes they are a bit slim too

    Can I power the 67i from an external source like car charger and usb external battery? Will the Bluetooth work with my iPad for a larger screen capability?       Unless they will come with a special trail mode where they shut down everything else except navigation and messages to extended battery life and push more power to satellite communications and navigation

    I just received the Ranger yesterday. I mainly burn pellets, 1/4 of a load produced about 35+ minutes for me. The heat was there (more than expected) and only in winter should you need the heat shield. Took much less time to start than a conventional fire pit. I might add that older folks will appreciate the carry weight of the Ranger. Awesome stove.

    What did we do before they added the bottom stash pocket to packs lol. I have the Waypoint, and I love it. It toted nicely on the Ice Age Trail last year and on the AT this year. Totes well on the shoulders and hip, but I don't think I'd do over 20 pounds in it, but I'm light enough I don't worry about hitting 25 pounds unless it's winter. I haven't even used my 40L pack since getting it, don't see the need to

    Waypoint seems really really good just miss the bottom pocket I agree But for such a low weight it's great to see a full frame full pading full hipbelt shoulder pockets hipblet pocket DCH top notch material... Looks pretty nice! And more "accessible" for those of us who are not very very ultralight hikers compared to the Contour. I do think that you miss that point on your conclusion they are definitely not meant for the same base weight... For a thru hike with long water or food caries the contour will only work for really hard-core ultralighters
