All those people on the trail that walked by Lee, did not realize they just passed the #1 first call L A Bass player that played Bass on most of the music they have listened too all their lives.
I say that every time Lee is out cruising around town!
Even the ZZ-Top beard wasn’t enough to clue me into who he was 1st time I met him. So unassuming; like many greats. Some ppl don’t believe I’ve met so many greats, but 30 years in L.A. and they’re almost all here one time or another. #Respect
Hey! You're in my neck of the woods! Sorry about the rain but we need it. Wish I was there anyway.
Welcome to Michigan! 👋😊
Thanks again for the venue tour, and this time thanks for finding space for us under your umbrella. I hope the weather improves before show time. 😆
Meijer Gardens is beautiful, even in the rain! Perhaps it rained just so we could see the garden like a private tour. Thank you!🌻
Lee, you have NO idea how much I appreciate it that you take your precious personal time to bring us along on your adventures!! Nothing nicer than a stroll in the rain too!! You are the most awesome of all cool cats!! Thank you and I'm sure many of us here (including myself), love you man!! It also amazes me that as you walk around, no once seems to recognize you (or at a
minimum, they give you space.... which is not a bad thing from your perspective I guess...)
one
Nice long tour of the area & it's very beautiful. Have a great DRY show tonight
Hey there, Lee and all!
I remember rainy concerts at Pine Knob. The lawn became a sledding hill. Ah good times...
Me too!
Pine knob gigs are great! So James There with Lee, and he referred to him as the man behind the shroud of Turin! Thanks Lee for the update 🙂
Us Michiganders are a hardy bunch. A little rain won't stop us! Now lacking a ticket ... that's a different story! Thanks for the grand tour. Love Meijer Gardens.
WOW LEE WHAT A TOUR!!!!!!! Thanks so Much our friend!!!!!
I just wanted to say that I really appreciate all your videos. I live in GRR and Fredrick Meijers gardens is one of my favorite venues to listen to bands.
It is so generous and kind of you to share the touring life with us. You're a mensch!
Meijer Gardens is a 158 acre botanical garden located in Grand Rapids Township, Michigan.
You know I noticed something with this video. It starts with a guy laying on his back taking a nap and ends with Lamont Van Hook laying on his back taking a nap.
I hope the rain ☔️ stops by showtime
Leland, my home town. I purchased The section album Fork it over, plus the James Taylor, CSN albums you played on.
Wow😮 the horses are beautiful.
Send some of that rain to Texas. My neighbor who refuses to water their yard has got a nice golden tan going on.
You have got more heat coming to Texas and to its power grid. Global Warming world wide is alarming.
@@artemisXsidecross We can't (grid) handle the cold/heat. Not sure what's going to happen when we all go to electric cars?
@@randyschiffer3265 Electric cars are far from being viable. Ford’s new Electric Mustang has major failures (high voltage cable) and their gasoline new Bronco has major engine failures ( valve manufacture failure) with less than 5000 miles.
Battery production problems and where the energy is to come from to charge these new electric cars is still unresolved.
@@artemisXsidecross Solar is the answer.
@@randyschiffer3265 Yes, and judicious use of energy.
You are a GOOD human! Hot and humid here in SoCal.... wish I was there with you and your pals!
Right up there with SLC Red Butte. I need to venture out and find the one here in Houston. There's one close to me but it's pale compared to this.
"I can't stand the rain." - Ann Peebles
"Meh." - Brad
Talk about a grand tour! This was extra special. Brad learning Andrews Sisters tunes - priceless. Thanks for yet another great escape!
Also: I Can't Stand The Rain - Missy Elliot
@@Mark_Brooks And Tina! Three-part harmony (speaking of the Andrews Sisters).
@@hanspeterlillese2225 Anyone worth their salt could cut a good version; it is a classic.
That was nice and the music of the rain just added the aural serenity. I was imagining the foundry saying, "...you want how big a horse?!?!?... I don't.. uh...gulp..." :)
A light ,no matter what👍🥰….and the rain….brought to us by the guy that creates the green…..and funny ,that guy ,laying in the garden…reminds everyone….The Show must go on…..and our friend Leland….braving the elements…so beautiful gardens….and the legacy of ZORABO….So often portrayed as the example of perfection in confirmation in sculptures ….Never topped in his show records in Both The US and Canada…..Tirelessly traveled and showed by his trainer and owner,Harlan Moelman, …..The legacy of ZORABO continues on ,and his offspring continue to bless show arenas….worldwide.
Hopefully the rain and the show does go on….and the stories of the road…..Thank you Leland …Wow!!!! Fantastic…Wishing you all a great show and “Neva mind the wethea, the holiday’s Foreva “….cherries my friend!! 🌹🪷🌹🪷🌹🪷🥰👍🕊🌀🖕🏻❤️
Look at the Rain! Cool 😎 Meijer Gardens! Great Venue! 👍 Have Fun! And, Thank You So Much, Leland and the Lyle Lovett Large Band! Love It!
My wife and I have seen many "Summer Concerts" at Meijer Gardens. We were lucky enough to see Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive 35 Tour" on a beautiful 4th of July evening. Good luck tonight Leland! It will take a lot more than a little rain to keep us Michigan music lovers away LOL! 😍
You're so lucky! Send me your info...Rory, my C air Terrier Wheaton color Service 🐕🦺 and I will be by to see you in 2024! Southern California sense of humour, LOL!
Enchanting for sure. Even in the rain 👍👍
I hope the weather clears up for your gig tonight but I appreciate you going above and beyond the call of duty to bring us 42 rain soaked minutes of these picturesque gardens!
You are such a tease and I love that you care about your people........the landscape is well taken care of.....this particular area is perfect to get ready for your performance tonight....thank you
Lee, Thank you for showing us this place, "All to ourselves."
The conservatory at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens here in Richmond VA is also very nice. I wish I had the land and the money to do one for myself.
Every city should have a version to share. From '65 to '78 we lived in San Francisco and walking distance to Golden Gate Park; we next moved across to Oakland and their great East Bay Regional Park.
Hello to Leland Sklar from Port Huron, Michigan!
Glad you found a janitor to unlock the door for you!
Atta boy Russ......Love the Nat!!!!!!
This reminds me of the Japanese Garden in the Arboretum in Seattle, where I was born and raised. And the rain makes the comparison even more apt. 😏. Thank you so much for the “walking meditation”. So peaceful.
It reminded me of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and The Botanical Gardens; all cities should have a version of their own to enjoy.
Another what a place to see a show!!!!!!
Fantastic behind the scenes tour. We get to see the seedy side of life on the road. Loitering, gambling, gluttony, lethargy, general goofing off. What a bunch of characters! ✌️
What a bunch of fantastic venues you and the band are playing. Thanks for giving a peek into what its like for a touring musician on the road. Absolutlly wonderful. Good luck for the show Lee!
This is truly fascinating.
Thanks for the tour Leland 👍❤️🎸
Lee! I’m a airline pilot for 38 years and I always wanted to document places I’ve been but never did. It’s funny that this month, I have been laying over in the same on the same day lot of the
This place was built for the long haul Lee, lots of perennials and bronze. Nice to
walk in the rain less people more peaceful..
Paper towels! That was good. Looks like all the lakes in Michigan are getting topped up today. Meijer Gardens is immense! Great sculptures. Thanks for the tour! Keep dry!
It’s pouring rain outside. Mr Sklar could be doing other things than walking around in the rain. Instead,he feels his clubhouse needs to see another superb venue. The rain only adds some tranquility to a fine walk. Thanks again Lee for sharing a bit of your world off the stage. This place is beautiful. The gated archway for kids made me laugh out loud.
Coolest share ! Nice rain, hope it clears up🌦☔☂️😎💜👩💜 Really pretty! Aww poncho and something to sit on.
Brad does not disappoint - still practicing! Hope it clears up for the audience tonight. Praying for sunshine
I would enjoy hearing from him what he listens to and what would be his choice of music to play for pleasure.
The gardens are beautiful. Makes me imagine how beautiful it is in the fall. I also imagine all the maintenance. Thank you for the rainy day tour. Very nice of you.
What I wouldnt give for a walk in the rain today! 114 degrees in the desert this afternoon. Even too hot to swim.
Sorry to report more heat is expected next week. 👎
What an outstanding venue, the rain and temperatures would scare me away, sissy I am :-))
Great Stuff Again Leland...Thank you!
I used to live very near Pine Knob. Could step outside and hear concerts. And Meijer Garden is beautiful.
Good evening Leland and everybody
Ann! Nice shower here just finishing up.
@@Mark_Brooks we have had showers too.
Poker and Nat King Cole. Excellent!
grand rapids, hell your only about 300 miles from my place. why don't you grab some of the guys and drop by. I will throw a brisket on the smoker. Lol Thanks for the tours...
The weather gave us a break! Thanks for making this stop. Your video is lovely. We never miss the Large Band when they grace us with their music. So happy all were present and HEALTHY!. Leland, I think you played with Jackson Browne here a couple of years ago as well? The concert was fabulous. We had an hour and a bit drive, so we listened to Lyle all the way home as well. Please come back. With you and Russ there, this 70+ year old guy felt like I was in the presence of royalty. :)
. .. ... thank you very much for these Leland. they make my day!
Love the behind the scenes videos.
Thx for the tour! Had no idea it was that fabulous up there!
I’ve played for several weddings at Meijer Gardens outside and during the winter it’s fun to feel like you’re in a jungle when in the planetarium. 😃
21, now 42 minutes. Thanks for brighten up our days!
This picture from the cam is perfectly clear, Leland. 😇
Ha ha! I laughed out loud at, "don't let that water touch you - you might melt." Thanks for doing these, they're great, rain and all. I appreciate the walks and interactions with whatever's happening.
Michigan-that’s my turf, and FILM? As in a Super 8? Wow!
Thanks for the jungle tour Lee. Awesome venue. Stay dry and have a great show!
The garden is quite happy!!!!!
Beautiful venue. I really enjoyed the bronze horses.
Now that's what I call a greenhouse.!! Lee I'm absolutely loving these walk abouts from the places you're playing, so good to get a glimpse of places that are just names to someone like me down here in New Zealand, and mostly names that I know of or recognise, sure hope to get over there one day and see it all for myself. on a sillier note nice to see you're getting some of our weather 😁😁 I'm sure you will be loving the lower temps. Have a great gig tonight. Cheers Mike
This has the flavor of Monet's Giverney, to me... Thank you so much... Time is the best present 🎁 you can ever give some one....you are treasured by us!
I really enjoy each of these tourist videos. I envy the rain, here in Spain we are roasting. I wish you the best at the concert.
Fred Meijer left us such a wonderful gift in West Michigan. I love Meijer Gardens and the summer concert series every year.
Wow! That was Great! So green and beautiful 😍
Thank you again 💓
Until tomorrow for my meditation video 🙂
Be safe
Leland Sklar, you are one cool, talented, kind hearted individual! Thanks again for your awesomeness!✌️❤
You guys should work up a little tune called the "Wet Butt Boogie" for the crowd :)
Andrew sisters! Which one was Laverne?
Meijer is a grocery store chain here in the Midwest mainly Michigan. Fred Meijer who has passed was the most indebted main because the whole chain was a private company not a corporation. I'm so bummed when you were coming to the Michigan area is when I was leaving! But enjoy the Mitten!
It seems like a well-run company that cares about their employees. Much prefer shopping there that chain which shall not be named.
Nice! I live an hour south of there and have been there a few times. They have an incredible Christmas tree display in December.
They certainly do find some beautiful venues all in a row. So far all beautiful. Stay safe.
I simply love that you take the time to film these outstanding venues on your tour. This was a wonderful garden/venue. Btw, that`s a serious greenhouse! Safe travels.Thank you thank you thank you -
That dude laying in the rain. I thought he was the top of a Sarcophagus!
Don't think it's a dude, but my mince pies aren't as good as they used to be.
Leland replied to me saying it's a 15 feet tall sculpture.
Awesome, even in the rain!
Lee another beautiful place for you.....Nice gardens........Great art work/statues!!!!
My father used to sing the one meat ball song all the time. Sure do miss him. Sure enjoy your videos of the venues. Thanks 🙏
I remember listening to the 1944 version by Josh White.
Just watched the entire Toto concert in high def with you on bass. What a show that was!
Above & beyond, Lee, above & beyond 👍👍 The lengths you go to to allow us to tag along are much appreciated !!
So grateful to you for these fabulous tours.
Thanks!
Pretty much how I want to do my backyard when I hit The Lottery!
Reminds me of my home town in high Summer. Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow is a Gaelic name meaning Dear Green Place! With the amount of rain that falls yearly here, you can understand the title .
Lee since you are in Southern California the stuff falling from the sky is called rain.
What a cool place, thank you LeLand.. have a great show!!!
Great rainy day sax practice❣️ Oh man the rain is serious. I love hydrangeas myself. I don't understand those people that don't. Also love peonies, and Dianthus.
This is the kind of rain that does this out of nowhere when I'm just approaching the last major street crossing with no controlled light, before the long driveway home. Are the sculptures out of iron? You must have a really big umbrella. I'm always having to crazy glue my shoes from going through the water. :) Gaffer tape might work in an emergency. 😉
I feel like critter. Thank you so much for this walk through the rain Leland❣️❤️ Oh wow! That IMAX would've been so amazing with the beavers! I feel like you may be getting drenched even with the umbrella. I understand the need to get out though, especially in such a pretty place. Eek! The carnivorous plants! Hee! Just don't feed the plants! 😄Perfect! ...and Nature Boy is playing in the distance! Thank goodness we can hear a trace of Nat with no penalties. Hope you found a good towel, and some good food! 💕
What a place!
I Hope the weather clears.
My God, it’s the Trojan horse.
I had visions of you having to return the wailing baby to it’s mother…
Wow - that’s some wild, poured, tree-shaped concrete in the building! I can’t fathom the form work….
Yet another cool venue I had never before seen. Thank you!
Scorching heat here in Europe. Rain's one of those existential phenomena, ya hate it on the day, but can't live without it tomorrow.. What fantastic lush gardens.
Wow Leonardo da Vinci's Horse must weigh a ton!!!!!
What a beautiful spot!
Hey Leland thanks for the tour of the gardens... awesome facilities... my dog would love walking around there... sadly they are probably not allowed... thanks for sharing yourself and the crew on tour... amazing.
You are a trooper! Can't stop to watch this yet, but more power to your filming arm🦾 for going above and beyond in the effort!
I can feel my blood pressure lowering. So relaxing.
Follow the change in vegetation growth. The lightening up of vegetation. 158 acres Meijer Gardens
They'll be singing in the rain 🎶☔🎵🌧🎼💧💧 ... when you water a horse it grows! Was supposed to see Loggins and Messina at Hollywood Bowl tonight but not happening due to covid in their bubble ☹
Man I enjoyed this show today! That was some quality time with Leland Sklar again and it doesn’t get better than that! Nice job!
This is a really cool virtual tour. Thanks so much.
Meijer was one of the first mega grocery stores in the 70s (Groceries, clothing, plumbing, toys, etc)
The stores were called Meijer Thrifty Acres. As a kid I called it Meijer 50 Acres they were so big!
When our first Meijer's (always possesive!) opened in west Lansing we knew our area had arrived!
Hi Lee! Welcome (Willkommen since you are at Meijer Garden) to Michigan where you can always count on weather being opposite of what you would like...or need! Today's weather is Pure Michigan... LOL... have a great show!
