Phil. Once you finish all the brands will you give us your best value picks for hardtail, down country, trail, Enduro, etc across all the brands? That'd be rad!
Hey Phil I have a couple of questions first would you go the fathom 2 or the big trail 400 its my 1st proper mountain bike and should I upsize I'm about 172 cm so a medium, but I want to order one so I don't miss out. Cheers
i recently bought my first dual suspension bike. i came from a road and gravel background. i bought a genius with a marzocchi bomber z2 fork. i have nothing to compare it to but i keep hearing reviewers say its good. what part of it is good?
Hey Phil, I have put a deposit on a Big.Trail 600 but I have recently been re-thinking whether or not it would be a good bike that I would still be happy with in a few years time. I've been considering getting a budget full suspension where I could upgrade components as I progress. Just wondering if you could provide some advice. Anyway, great video (as always), really appreciate all the effort you're putting into these reviews. Cheers
Its really depends on your local trails and where you see yourself progressing too. If you know rougher more technical trails are in your near future I would consider a dual suspension. Something with 120mm will give you a fair bit more versatility compared to a 130mm trail hardtail. That being said if you ride for fun and love more flow trails with the odd tech a hardtail is tough to beat!
It's a great bike, we all upgrade eventually but it's a great platform to learn on. Personally I think you'd be better upgrading to a higher spec duel suspension when you're out riding the big trail... it'll take a while.

hey Phil another good review you should look at whyte bikes as they have some nice ones too.
I ordered my 96 8000 in June 2021 and expected delivery is currently April 2022. But I'm sceptical. Good luck trying to get one.
Oooh been waiting for this one. Did the big trails change at all from 2021?
Not from what I can see
Just the paint\colours.. and for some reason Merida on there AU site isn't showing the Big Trail 700 but 99bikes are.. and what a bruiser it is!

Got a big trail 600 sat waiting for me.

Is the big trail 400 worth the extra $$ over the big trail 200?

Just dump 3-4K on a full sus and don’t look at your bank account for a while.
I have the 500 and really like it. The 600 looks like a great bike! I'd keep it.
