- Merida's all new Big.Trail 29er hardtails are super versatile trail tamer or daily driver bikes but what are the details that make them really stand out?

This sounds like it might be the bike for me. Looking forward to the ride review.
Fantastic video, very informative no BS. You sir just helped me make the decision about my next bike, Thank you
Always a positive review without any bull. Good report.
I had lime green Z1 drop offs back in the day. They were so plush!
Nice! Looking forward to the test ride.
Forgot to say, it's up now.
I wish we could get Merida in North America. Great review.
Looking forward to the ride review aswell,, id really like to get one of these.
Amazing work from Merida, they've even put chain straight from KMC! Alu option is way more accessible for most, than new bikes rolling out in carbon only with poorest spec being the most affordable option.
Thanks good review.
Got mine today. It looks fabulous
Ace! Enjoy 🤘🏻
@@GuyKesTV what a great bike.
Feel absolutely solid. Peddles are a bit naff though.
Can't fault a £1200 price tag.
Just need to take it bikepacking to give it a proper test
I have the Trek X-caliber & the Merida frame design looks similar with Slacker head angle & some really nice design touches.
Love to see you review the specialised Chisel hardtail by the way thanks so very much for all reviews
Lindon and Lisa I love the Chisel. I’ve not video reviewed it, but there’s a written review here 👍🏻 www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/mountain-bikes/specialized-chisel-comp-x1-review/
@@GuyKesTV thanks so much read the review
@@lindonandlisa8114 BTW, I didn't tell you this but if you've not already got a Chisel, maybe hang on a month or so.....
@@GuyKesTV I will thank
Looking forward for a test and also a versus between this and GT ZASKAR LT EPERT 2021.
Colin Petrie you will love this bike, enjoy for Christmas from Leslie Bikes, Fife.
Brilliant 😉
Thanks Guy you just made me consider another bike. 😆 god damn. Seems like a great bike. By the way when is the Sonder Transmitter video coming?
This will be my next bike. Everything i want and a break from the usual sram stuff.
Ordered my 600 yesterday from Leslie Bike Shop in Fife 👍
Nice one. Thanks for the colour update too. They didn’t tell me that!
Because of boost standard, is there no problems with chainline?
Nice vid
This was the only bike I could get in covid times I was told there’s one medium available if you want it I said yes it was still in the box they didn’t even have one to look at, so I put a deposit down came home and watched this figured I’d made the right decision. It’s been brilliant to be fair, I fancy trying a full suspension bike but might hold out to see if Merida enter the SL ebike market and add some assist to my full sus I’m 50 in 3 years so it might be smart move.
So good that it played out for you Mark. I'll see what I can find out from my sources at Merida, but a lighter E-bike is definitely what's missing from their range right now
@@GuyKesTV yeah thanks I’ve learnt a lot on the big trail I’m actually subscribed now not sure why I wasn’t already, but yeah I’d be interested if you find out anything, I like the trek exe it’s just the price and I’m not sure about carbon frames.
That's a seriously nice looking bit of kit. Just as well I don't need a hardtail 🤣
Nice bike
Yes, this bike seems absolutely killer for the price of entry. I just wish there was a 27.5 inch option. I'm only 5 6". Other than that, the geo, the specs, and the aesthetics seems right on point.
I'm 5'4 and ride a 29er you'll be fine.
Geometry sounds good ,should be a win
You'll need to size up if you want a stretch though.
@@GuyKesTV it's longer in the reach than my octane prone 😉
Sounded like you were in fast motion at the start haha
Nice looking bike Guy 👌 great Tech talk buddy 🚴 😉👌👌
Keeping me in suspense here guy. 😂
Sorry Oliver, ride up now if you've not already seen it.
@@GuyKesTV yes thanks, didn't realise you'd had a tumble. Thanks for the review.
I am thinking of get one but was wondering what competitors it has.
Got mine on order. Got to wait until Nov though.
I'm the same ordered my few weeks ago, end of November ☃️☃️
@@davewatt8840 mine came 20th December in the end.
@@davewatt8840 cracking bike. Bar the brakes. Order some deore 6100 as a cheap upgrade.
Any news on release date ? Looks great
I'm 6-2 would the XL fit me or should I go for another bike?
This bike colour scheme is coming to the UK in October... after watching your live ride review I've decided to get one' but should I go for large as I'm 5'8
You’ll be right on the med/lge boundary as I am with lge/XL. What saddle height do you run (top of saddle to BB axle)
Hi Guy,
I was just wondering if you could recommend a decent mini pump to take on my travels just in case !!! Ideally one that fits inside my frame bag pls
Kind Regards
Lezyne and Zefal are really reliable which is all that matters really.
nice bike
Thanks ✌️
Dove si acquista in italia non si trova mi può dare il link dove lei l'ha comprata?
Tredz have these in a different colour for sale already, saying they had input on the bike design. I'm waiting on your ride review before I pull the trigger on one of these, will it be long?
They only have small in stock now, pre order is for 12/12/20 😥
Sorry Zane, ride up now if you've not already seen it.
Worth mentioning that the big trail has a sram UDH as standard! My Ragley has a rather silly design with 6 Allen screws and it’s already come loose once.
Yes, great point. That didn’t matter so much when I shot the video a couple of years ago, but it’s really important now.
Originally I ordered this 600 model at my LBS in overseas back in mid September, the shop said it should arrive by November. However, the shop called today and said the shipment is delayed till next year April/May coz the other components such as drivetrain etc. made by Shimano are in shortage, and so even if Merida could produce solely the frame on time, they couldn't deliver the complete bike!! Anyone facing similar problems?
Love that bike!! Don’t know how to get a hold on one here in the US. ?
U cant
Mine is coming today
Awesome, enjoy
@@GuyKesTV thanks 👍
@@tomvanderveldo_2047 how do you like it?
its really good but im getting a full sus soon to go with it@@Callusny
Hello Guy. Is there an option to increase the breaking power of the original brake?
If you fit sintered brake pads that will help but they can be noisier and wear the rotors quicker
Where did you get the green/red version. Not available in UK stores
They are in Oz. Not sure where else.
Torn between this and a Vitus Sentier
Hi guy, did the bottom bracket hit anything ? It's the only thing on the bike that has me worried?
No didn't have any ground clearance issues. There are certainly lower bikes like Stif Squatch where it's a potential problem but not this one.
Best budget hardtail?
Would a large frame be suitable for 185cm male rider
in what prices is this bike coming?
Anyone know where you can buy one of these?
Sounds like they need an XXL size too.
Hi hope somone can help being around 5"11 would large or xl be best suited?
The large was ok but if you want long reach go XL for sure
Cheers thanks for your help much appreciated
Cycle to work gives me £1500.
Convenient eh 😉
Also the UK Purple Colour is sexy af.
Is there space to change to bigger chainring like 34t or 36t?
I'll find out
Reply from Merida tech says you can get a 34T on fine
You can fit a maximum of a 34T chainring if you like, but all the bikes in the BIG.TRAIL lineup come with 32T as standard. Hope this helps!
Thank you.
You can tell where you bought?
Im 36 haven't. been mountain biking since my teens. Spent months on you tube down rabbit holes watching loads of bike channels. Im going to get back into biking been saving and ready to get my bike. I can't decide between Merida big trail 500/600. I think both are probably just fine for me I have the nagging feeling to go for 600 as specs are better, but do I really need that should I just be happy with 500? If anyone has advice that would be appreciated. Driving myself insane lol.
I’m a bit late to your comment, you already got a bike? I have the big trail 500 and it’s fine for getting into biking again. The 600 has better fork and brakes but I think you would only need or recognize those at a higher skill level. Maybe I will upgrade my fork and brakes later but currently I am happy with it.
HELP!!!
My height is 1.73cm-1.74cm (5'7 - 5'8) and my inseam is 82cm (32).
I take size M or L??
The page tells me size M but having a relaxed geometry (65.5 degrees) and having a short seat tube, I don't know if I would be comfortable in a size L.
What do you recommend me?
What bike do you ride at the moment?
I ride an old model of the Trek Marlin 7, which has a verte different geometry, so I'm new to this type of bike so I need help
What do you recommend me ??
@@user-cq8rb3hf8w in that case I’d go medium. It’ll be different enough and work super well and a large is going to feel REALLY weird 👍🏻
@@GuyKesTV I want a bike that will last me a long time (5 years) and with this bike I want to improve my skills and that the bike can adapt to my improvements.
In addition to being able to adapt the bike for the type of mtb I want to do, I plan to do trail or freeride, but if I want to do more XC in the future, I can adapt it.
Knowing this.
What do you recommend size M or size L to close the conversation?
@@user-cq8rb3hf8w I would still go M for all round riding for now and in the future. I’m 4in taller than you and I’m on the M - L border
Only issue is the bike isn't available in this colour in the UK. We get a dark purple colour
Yeah sorry, they didn't tell me that when it arrived, just before I did the live ride.
@@GuyKesTV the purple is still a sick look. The green is just so much nicer though lol gutted it's not available here
@@danielmason1512 I'll send one over from OZ!
how to purchase? amount? philippines location.
Is this bike available now? If so where can you buy it?
Luke Henning couple of weeks yet apparently
Would love a comparison with the new torrent A1
Yes ! I’m tossing up between the 2
Чудовий байк
hmm there a big paint chip at the head tube
Yep, it arrived like that so not sure when/how it happened but the bike had been used for photos before I think.
Does this come partly built?
It should be supplied fully built by the shop
@@GuyKesTVthanks for the reply, also does this come with a dropper or not?
New Sub to the channel.Struggling to find this Colour/Spec in Scotland.Any feedback welcome.Good vid on the ride review.
Unfortunately we only get a purple version in the UK. It still looks really good though.
Thanks for the sub BTW
No available in spain, and to be honest for that money you get a cragger 7 or 8 , with better specs
and also a Whyte 629 v3 ( which i own now because it was available
Ребята, привет. Сколько стоит ?
Why are the uk stocks all nasty purple ☹️ I want this colour 😥
Because that was 2020 version
What is that bike’s size? Cheers
It’s a large, I’m 180cm tall
Very nice bike but I'm not liking the Christmas colors
Uk colour for that spec is purple with all black fork.
The 500 is black and grey I’ve gone that way the purple is a put off for sure
UK model is purple - not the green and red
I'm not from Canada dam I thought barbie boy was the but master . I'm really disappointed at this news
