Today we have a very exciting video happening, as we are going to be giving away a fabulous Royer R-10 Ribbon Mic! The Royer R-10 is a passive mono ribbon microphone designed for use in the studio and on live stages. These mics are also legendary on electric guitars!
This mic is able to capture all the low end, midrange warmth and punch that guitarists and engineers have come to expect from any Royer mic. If you want more bite in the highs, but don't want to multi-mic, the R-10 takes EQ beautifully and we suggest experimenting with your favorite EQ unit or plugin.
The R-10's patented offset-ribbon design positions the ribbon element toward the front of the transducer, which allows for high SPL handling on the front and the option of a brighter response when recording lower SPL sound sources like acoustic guitar, ukulele, and vocals on the back side. This is almost like having two mics in one as it allows you to switch between the two sides of the mic depending on the sound source!
Like all Royer mics, the R-10 is built by hand on Royer's beautiful Burbank facility, but is still relatively affordable. But even though it is affordable, that doesn't mean that the R-10 is just an entry level mic. This mic is compact and powerful! It is very flexible and will capture amazing quality sound no matter what you are recording.
Royer mics are fantastic, so it is great to have the opportunity to give one away to one of you! Make sure you scroll up to the top to enter for your chance to win!

Yes I’ve recorded violins and cellos in the R10. It does a great job especially when you use a small condenser mic with it to capture the extreme highs and lows. The best thing about the R 10 is that you can EQ it to your hearts content.
