- Lewitt LCT 640TS: OUR FAVOURITE MIC! | Demo & Giveaway ➡️➡️Click here to enter to win a LCT 640 TS: bit.ly/2EOlk6m
The LCT 640 TS is a 1" multi-pattern studio microphone that delivers full, crisp, yet well-balanced sound works on any source. You can use this mic for precise vocal and instrument recording, making it "the Swiss army knife of studio mics". The LCT 640 TS works as a traditional multi-pattern microphone, a stereo microphone, and a mic that can change the polar pattern after the fact. This mic will make your vocals sound larger-than-life and your instruments full and vibrant.
The LCT 640 TS also features the revolutionary Dual Output Mode. This feature changes the way we think about the recording process. When you use it, you'll send the front and the back of the capsule's diaphragm to two individual outputs. This mode allows for perfectly-in-phase stereo recording with just this mic alone! Simply point the mic sideways to the source and adapt the stereo width in the mix. Every mic also undergoes a series of measurements followed by adjustment of polarization voltage to achieve the same sensitivity in every microphone, which is what Lewitt calls their "Perfect Match Technology". If you add more LCT 640 TS microphones to your collection, you can use any two of this as a stereo pair.
With the Dual Output Mode activated, the LCT 640 TS also lets you set the polar pattern dynamically. You can change and fine-tune you material recorded via the Dual Output Mode and also choose between the five classic polar patterns that you usually find in a multi-pattern workhorse for studio recording, including: omni, wide caridoid, cardioid, supercardioid, and figure-8.
In addition, by combining this mic with Lewitt's POLARIZER plugin, you can conveniently change and fine-tune your material recorded via Dual Output Mode. You can now add or subtract room sound in post-production during mixing.

What would you record with this mic?
Music of course! Lol
mostly Drums and vocals
Vocals
EVERYTHING !!!!
My friend who is a great singer.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this factor. I used to teach audio engineering over 15 yrs ago. Having a mic like this with the software would have been mind blowing back then due to its ability to clearly demonstrate the various patterns and their direct effect on the source.
That’s very true! Thanks for the great Comment
Legit I just watched all your old lewitt videos. I wake up for Christmas (Australia) and see this one has come out. Thanks Warren!
Hi RCynic that’s amazing to hear my friend!! Great timing indeed!!
Thinking about all of you and everything that is happening in Australia at the moment. Warm thoughts from norway
@@MrSeafloat thanks heaps, it means a lot to us. It's very scary, there are 700,000 hectare fires 10km from me both north and south. And my sister got trapped on a beach for a few days as their roads and suburbs got blocked by fires. We are safe at the moment but there's still 2 months of this heat to go.
Acoustic guitar... and vocals.
Merry Christmas Warren and the Produce Like Pro Team!
Happy Christmas!!
If you wanna check whether the mic is a true swiss-army workhorse - record the whole band with it only, love such series! I'd record vocals, overheads, drum room, kick out, some violas/violins probably (okay, I'm a bit crazy with the last one, but hey, the mic is so versatile!)
Hi Cyril, yes, we did record the whole band with just the one mic! It was fantastic!!
You guys are great. The fact that people rich or poor get the price they win brought to their doorstep for free is such an awedome gesture.
Merry Xmas from the Philippines 🎅🎄
Yes! Equal opportunity!!
Thanks ever so much my friend!! Happy Christmas!
@@harmonystudios1182 yes, indeed!
I've given a blind listen to Lewitt mics on audiotestkitchen and my remarks on all models listened were like "too sibilant, weird shimmer, harsh highs, shimmery etc." Too bad, those mics looked pretty fresh but they fail in the same field as cheaper mics: harsh sibilance (I'm really getting tired of mentioning this, but this is where most of them mics fail).
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and warm wishes to you and yours, Warren.
Thanks ever so much Shea!!
Warren, hope you have a marvelous Christmas and Happy New Year.
Happy Christmas John!!
The sound of my heart, singing with joy ♥️
Wonderful! Thanks Shaun!
I wouldn't mind trying this for a drum room mic, but I'm still interested in ribbon mics for that purpose.
Hi weeschwee then you will be very happy with Thursday’s video! Haha
One of my top favorite microphones is the AEA R-88.
Hi Steve Antoniazzi wonderful mic! Thanks ever so much for sharing!
At least you like ribbon mics.
I think this mic should be in every home studio.
I agree 100%!!
You’re awesome Warren. Thanks for this! Your content is always amazing. I’m so proud to be a member of this great community. Fabulous mic, I’ll try to pick one or two up in the new year. Seasons Greetings everyone! 👍👍
matty6strings thanks ever so much my friend!! Happy Christmas!!
I would record guitar AMP Fender Mustang GT and make wide guitar sounds, but would try something new too, for sure. Thank you for multi-tracks and Merry Christmas Warren.
Dominik Papić you’re very welcome! Happy Christmas
I own the Lewitt LCT 640 for some years now. It is just a phenomenal all round mic, ... kick, snare, HiHats, trumpet, cello, percussion, vocal, acc. guitars, el. guitar, you name it! It works on everything. But this TS version is just a superb step forward, I must get one of those ... one of this days ;)
Hi Andrej Pirjevec wow! Thanks ever so much for sharing your insight!!
I love her voice... oh yes. Thats true passion. Really cool.
Hi Arvid Johann thanks ever so much!!
@@Producelikeapro agreed, she sings with her heart and soul, all these guys gave me a real good time, thanks so much
Love this lady's voice! She has that soul that makes you feel what she's singing about, not just hear it.
Hi Chad, yes, she's an amazing singer!!
@@Producelikeapro Sounds like the mic was a bit too high making her a bit nasally sounding. Mose chest voice would have been awesome.
Happy Holidays man, hope you have a fun celebration, and great showcase here man! Sound that the mic produces is extremely defined and clear!
Hi RC32 wonderful! Happy Christmas! Yes, I love this mic!
Awesome to hear man! Cheers!
@@RC32Smiths01 here's to an amazing New Year!!
@@Producelikeapro Ahh I do know this new year shall be great!
I’m sure you haven’t yet shopped to Ghana West AFRICA. The mic seems amazing. I love the fact that you can change the polar pattern in post. Incredible options. Love the series. Can’t wait to demo this on my TV series.
This is a strong contender for my studio rebuild - - a minimalist setup, with 2 very flexible and capable mic channels - - taking all I've learned over the years and focusing on quality over quantity. It's a slow build, from the ground up.
The song sounds fantastic, BTW.
Glad I got to hear it again
Thanks ever so much Draztiq!!
Great! Thank you!
I can see why you're enthusiastic about this mic. However, Townsend Labs' Sphere L22 takes this to a whole other level. I've worked with them both in two studios. While the studio owners were impressed with the Lewitt, it was the L22 that got them to sell their vintage AKG C12 and Neumann U87 (respectively) and purchase several of the Townsend Labs mics. They are unbeatable, and with all respect, the plugins and technology behind them make the Lewitt look like a high school project. Not only do you get emulations of 30 of the worlds greatest mics of all time, they worked with UAD to develop an Apollo/Unison plugin and model Bill Putnam's mic collection which can be purchased in addition to the free plugins that have the 30 emulations. They also modeled the Ocean Way collection. But the icing on the cake for me is the 180 version of the plugin which allows you to combine qualities of any two of the mic emulations. Want the heft of the U47 with the shimmer of a C12? No problem. You can also change the address axis, proximity, pickup pattern, and mic emulation AFTER tracking. Their most recent and, IMO, impressive achievement was collaborating with Soyuz to emulate the Soyuz 017 which is possibly the most gorgeous sounding mic I've ever heard. Between that and the AKG C12, you can flatter just about any voice or instrument.
Woo Hoo, wanna win it. Band Coming thru Pretty strong Twin 640's
wearing MDR7506 with Boom Surround App on MAC
KXMROCK fantastic!
Actually, this is just an ambisonic microphone, but restricted to 1 dimension (I.e. you can manipulate the 1st order polar pattern only along one axis). With a tetrahedral ambisonic microphone array (4 channels ), you can do everything this mic does, but also steer the virtual microphone pattern in any direction in 3D during post production, which is much more powerful. (also, I'll note that the first ambisonic mic was built in the 70s ;)
Damn, that girl can sing! Happy Holidays!
Yes, she can!! Happy Christmas!
Got a Lewitt 440 Pure a few moths ago and a set of Kali LP 8's too from watching you. Love the mic, but the monitors have a constant static hum unfortunately. However it did motivate me to get some Adam A5X's and now I'm in heaven! Thank you Warren for everything you do!
i forgot to say MERRY CHRISTMAS WARREN and JOHN and ERIC and the entire PLAP team
Hi frozn colors Happy Christmas!
What a gift to be part of this community. Thank you so much Warren for all that you do. Merry Christmas to everyone!
Hi Eric Collins thanks ever so much my friend! Great to have you as part of our community!!
I'm in love with the singer's voice and way of singing. Amazing!
Soundfield users have been able to do this and a whole lot more for years. Great to see other manufacturers bringing more affordable products to the market
Yes, exactly Martin!
@Andy Saunders I've used the Caloric and it's truly wonderful! Unfortunately not many of us have the budget to buy one and even renting one for a week or two would be the same as buying this mic!
damn i already entered the giveaway 😂 great to know the PLAP community will be joining. good luck lovely people 😊❤️
Happy Christmas!!
So many musicians think they need "BIG AMPS" to make "BIG SOUND".
Clarity is where it is at.
When I did sound job's, I just loved the bands that would come on stage & I only had to amplify them!!
To many musicians think gear makes them.. That is just so not true.
Being able to capture them, in a true sounding environment that is very jaw dropping,
is the main task as the sound guy.
If the band is having a bad night, well there is not much we can do.
Love to go pick myself up one of them.
Thanks 4 sharing bud.
Austrian Audio OC818 has similar feature set and sounds great.
Hi Anthony, yes, the Lewitt LCT 640TS has actually been out for a few years now, I just LOVE it so I wanted to showcase it some more! Coincidentally the Lewitt guys are also ex AKG just like the newer company Austrian Audio!
Lovely giveaway, thank you! And I would record most everything with it, especially one mic drum setups. Happy holidays everyone!
Thanks ever so much my friend!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Warren. 😁 🎅 🎄 🎁 🎉
Cheers mate! 🍻
Happy Christmas!!
I would love this mic for recording my jazz trio ❤️
Hi Guitarversum Sandra Sherman it would be perfect for that!!
I wired my studio bass in a similar way maybe 4 years ago and take separate neck and bridge tracks. Now, the stereo pair in one mic deal here is crazy good.
HEY I REMEMBER THAT SONG FROM THE 'HOW TO MAKE YOUR VOCALS SIT IN THE MIX' VIDEO (or maybe the vocal thickening?)
It was the same song, different musicians and singer as the Vocal Mixing video! Happy Christmas!
@@Producelikeapro It stuck. good work Warren. Love the Mic also.
I need this mic in my life

Welcome! Warren is a great teach and better still one that is still learning everyday. Like most of the greats. Enjoy the ride!
I think I would use the Lewitt LCT 640 TS as a drum OH mic, primarily. I would also use it for vocals and guitar amp. It would be great for my small home studio!
Hi D Jones it certainly does quite an amazing job at that!!
Awesome mic Warren! Hope you have a really great Christmas and New Year, and thank you for all your vlogs and encouragement to all of us in our recording endeavours!

Hi Noise in the Basement Happy New Year!!
This is also a fantastic mic for voice over work. It really needs more attention, as any and all reputation that follows it, is well deserved.
Hi Justin Connolly agreed 100%!
Wow Warren, a very generous gift!!!. Thanks so much.
Hi Michael Garding you’re very welcome!
I don't know if it's mostly the room or the mic or placement, but that stereo field at 3:26 made me sit up and listen! Nice!
Roy Glennie agreed! The stereo use of this mic is insane!

Christmas morning here in Tasmania. Merry Christmas rest of the world and big thanks Warren for all you have given us this year! Oh, and wow, what a guitar tone!

These lyrics are INCREDIBLE ❤️
Hi Jade Rene aw shucks! Thanks ever so much!!
Here I am, 3 years later, coming back to this video a few times a week to listen to the song 🤩 It's so good!
Honest (beginner) question: that raw vocal track sounds pretty hot. What effects chain would you put on it during mixing?
It depends on the song! If it's dense I might take off some low end and brighten it? As it is in this song, probably some light high end above 7k and gentle compression and it would be fairly perfect! Add a little reverb!
This mic is on my list. Thanks Warren and Merry Christmas!!
Hi The Feel Button wonderful!! Thanks ever so much!
Happy holidays. This channel is fantastic. I can’t believe how good this sounds. Wow!
Hi Todd Fritz thanks ever so much!
Merry Christmas Warren! Love the videos, have learned so much with them, currently in the middle of building my small home studio (just guitar and keyboard oriented) using all the knowledge i've gathered, most of it thanks to your content! Keep it up! Have a blessed Christmas a great new year!
It sounds great, personally I’ve recorded on, Neumann, Telefunken, AKG, even a Sony C800G and this mic isn’t bad at all.
Merry Christmas Warren !
Happy Christmas Edwin!
That is friggin' awesome with a capital AWE. I'm blown away, will be sharing this on all the social media. Thank you so much Warren.
Thanks ever so much David!
with these two mics you recorded the musicians live in this room. so as you are recording are you recording just two mics into your daw as well or just the specific insturments and vocals as well? thanks for your answer.
😊 I want it. Merry Christmas and happy holidays all!
Happy Christmas!
Wow! very good all-rounder tool..
That polar pattern changer application work very impressive!

oohhh!! Blair Sinta!! top session drummer!! Love his job on Alanis Morissettes álbums!!! Thanks Warren for the info!, dedication and giveaways!!!
damn!!! Sounds Impressive and they are amazing.
I dont know where this thread is going but I would record our Ukuleke Missionaries putting up open rehearsals in the lobby of our university hospital. By the way the drummers solution for having a ahaker with him was marvellous!!!
I'm really struggling to find quality musicians and in particular great vocalists. I'd give my right nut to be in your position but I'm beginning to think I have a punchable face or maybe fart when I walk. As a musician, writer and very new eng/prod, have you got any suggestions I can use to develop a great musical network that worked for you when you started out? Cheers 😍 🏴
Hi Bruce Scott great question! It has taken many years to befriend the best musicians! I would highly recommend hiring people, basically paying them to play on your recordings, building relationships. These are all people I’ve hired for different recordings
Very good mic no dubt, but for vocals, singers... for the price personally I prefeer others, like Neumann, Sennheiser or Akg 414, more clean and open sound, but for istruments, I think this is a good mic, it´s only my opinion...
Honestly, I have an electric razor that looks just like that.
Great mic! Thank you for your efforts and Merry Christmas!
Based on what I'm hearing it suits git & drums very well. For vocals (especially for female vocals) I'd probably reach for something else (a little warmer, probably tube, maybe even an SM7B for her). The double bass is OKish, but in the mix it misses a little roundness. Overall the Mic seems to be a great allrounder, thanks for the review!
Admitting I was listening on a small Bose soundlink mini bluetooth speaker, but it did seem to me that everything sounded at its best in OMNI directional mode. The good studio room probably helped a lot with that too.
Putting a microphone in front of a loudspeaker is not a good idea, but the singer is good and this microphone can be used to express a feeling or a thought or an impression.
oooooh wow ... amazing - this bass sound is just incredible ! No mix, no nothing ? These examples are as you recorded ? A M A Z I N G

I would record Lots of things for sure! Sounds amazing! Greetings from Brazil! 😁
Happy Christmas Thiago!
@@Producelikeapro Happy Christmas Warren!
Hi Thiago Imola thanks ever so much!!
The only part that doesn’t sound great using this mic is the kick drum. It sounds a little too “cardboard box.” The vocals are a little too boxed in, but I don’t think that’s a result of the mic...the vocal just needs to be a little more wet in post. That mic is definitely a beast overall though. Well done!
I've entered the giveaway. In it to win it. Haha Great song btw!
Wonderful Marc!!
