    Wow, this is really interesting. I too kinda felt like guoguan has been sort of on and off with it's releases. To put it in like movie terms, the guoguan releases are like dreamworks sequels. The yuexiao and xinghen were great, the yuexiao pro came out and it was great, but when the yuexiao edm came out, it was stickered and didn't really get a lot of good reviews.

    The way I like Phil is he does not bullshit. Unlike some people who just talk about all good things or cliche for EVERY cube, Phil says what's real -- no matter it can be subjective or not, at least we can get to hear some insights or analysis of cubes. You don't need to worry about it's just a scam and naive promotion from a retailer. This is especially precious since he sells cubes: this would've jeopardized his business by talking bad things. I know I can trust Phil's unboxing as a legit reference.

  • @uCubeYT
    @uCubeYT Před 3 lety +5

    I like the tsm because I used to use black cubes two years ago. But it really isn't smart for them to continue releasing models without a stickerless variant. I never thought about how it's just giving other companies ideas for free, really really interesting video.

    6:43 The reason for RS4M being 61mm and heavier than a 2020 cube is because it is a re-branded Aosu GTS1 (which I don't think it's a bad cube in 2017. The reverse corner cutting isn't that bad, but the Meilong can do better, and the GTS1 mech has already superseded by the GTS2 in 2018. The GTS1 in fact was my main for 3 years, but I've switched to the Meilong since, all the more showing off that switching to the RS4 is literally switching back to an old main).
    While I think re-selling an old flagship as a budget cube is somewhat okay for contining to make money off an old mold (Yuxin also did that with the Little Magic 8 and 9, which are Huanglong 8 and 9 printed in budget plastic), I do think using the RS name on a recycled 2017 mech is a waste of a good brand name. Picubeshop revealed it first, and ziicube uploaded pieces of the mech (which is 100% the same as the GTS1 except for a slight core fix to correct the breaking issues that some people have reported with the GTS1).

    I agree with the rest line. I think that the GuoGuan brand is almost like a test brand. They try innovations but only make it stickered so you do not buy the cube compared to their Wr line. Also, if the innovations are well received they will apply it to their Flagship puzzles. But MoYu I do think has better functionality puzzles than other manufactures .

      lol guess what?? the magnet adjustment tab innovation was very well received. it never made it to moyu's flagship line. instead, it made it to gan's flagship line and gan is probably feeling great.
      i love the original weilong wr m. one of my favorite cubes ever made.

    • @estevanlujan7059
      @estevanlujan7059 Před 3 lety

      Yes but even though it was innovative. There were issues with the edge pieces separating during solves and the magnet capsules would fall apart. But yes, moyu being my favorite brand in terms of their WRm line needs to improve their side brands. Also love your content.

    Agreed! Should also be noted that besides the adj magnets in EDM, the cubes design was OK and didn't present anyhing innovative. In fact, most reviewers seemed to be unimpressed with the cube.
    I feel like if it was spectacular and also had the adj magnets, people might've overlooked the stickered only thing.

  • @Jj82op
    @Jj82op Před 3 lety +1

    My main problem with Moyu is their naming and branding, first we had a Weilong GTS3, then people wanted a version with no ridges s we get a Weilong GTS3 WR, without ridges. Of course people thougt it meant World record so they stamp on the wr time and makes basically misleading advertisment and decide to make the rest of their cubes WR mainly because the 3x3 name was popular. Then come MF3 RS, RS2, RS3 all fine and then RS32020 a new version because the original RS3 wasn't as popular (also mine broke on two centerpieces). Now they decide to do the same just because the RS3 name is popular? A RS2 already exists and a RS4 should be another 3x3. They shoud start coming up with new names instead of reusing them.

    Hey MoYu, so as tradition release a cube known as the WRM 2021. Shortly after, release the WRM 2021 Pro with a more adjustable nature. Then, you release the WRM 2021 Pro Max, with a size-changing mechanism. Then you release the WRM 2021 Lite, a lighter magnetic version with a slight size decrease. Then you release the WRM 2021 Lite Pro with the same features as the original. Then you do the WRM 2021 V2 M. Also as tradition, you then release the WRM 20212M, removing the V. This cube also should be a 20x20 with 212mm but is a 3x3

  • @higgledypiggledycubledy8899

    Also, what the fsck were you thinking stopping production of the MF3RS2, a wildly popular cube used by some great cubers? A magnetic version would have sold like hot cakes, and even the base version would still sell today. People are starting to pay more for second hand ones than the cube was worth new! Some cubes from 2010 can still be found in some stores, the stickerless RS2 can't be found *anywhere*.

    moyu has not dominated for a while now and the newer wrm 2020 was horrible and soooooo slippery and never got better over time like a gan cube does after many solves. I would really like to see moyo progress as they were once my favorite brand. good video tho suggesting they listen to people and make better cubes again. i also agree about guoguan. We always anticipate his new releases like REALLY anticipate them and drool and then they aren't that great comparably. I stopped using my EDM as soon as one of the stickers wore off I hate stickered cubes as well

      I just got the wrm 2020 recently, and it honestly is my new main over a the gan xs, but only after i added 4 extra magnets to each edge piece. Yes, 4. Before that the cube was really slippery and fast, and the magnets were just too weak. Only after i added magnets it became good.
