My RS3 v5 came in yesterday. No where near a speed cuber (takes between 45s to 1min to solve; use cubes as my fidget tool of choice), but this cube's just so slick; love it. This one's going to replace my Rephael Magic Puzzle Cube that I got back in 2014 (will be taking my old cube home; the new cube will be my work fidget tool. lol). Great price and so far the possitives have been much greater than the negatives as far as reviews I've seen; even some speed cubers saying this cube is better than GAN cubes for them. Not sure why Magic Clothes is the name for this cube, but whatever you want to call it, it's a great cube, imo. Don't think I'll ever be solving it so fast that it will rip apart, so won't be my problem. lolololol :)
I think someone at Moyu read about Giffen Goods and wanted to test economic theory. Make the price higher, to make it appear to be a better product and be listed with other cubes at that price. It's not the actual robot I don't like, but the space it takes up. It means fewer products per shipping box, and thus higher shipping cost. It's not a lot, but compared to their other boxes, I suspect they might try and sell this in general toy stores so the robot makes it more like a toy.
That's really funny. I would be interested to know how Giffen goods are perceived and studied in China. And yes, the robot does impact the shipping costs and final price. Perhaps that's a Chinese retail thing.
I didn't study economics but I think I meant Veblen goods, which are luxury items, while Giffen goods are inferior goods for which no close substitutes exist. My thinking is that by raising the price, the V2 cubes are shelved with higher priced items to appear like luxury goods. In a similar way, GAN cubes are more about the brand than product.
@@asmallkitten I’m 31 years old so I consider myself old too haha ! I’m fundamentally a CFOP solver, I have learned Roux past summer and now I practice ZZ since 1 month and I have improved a lot ! Yoo Phil how do you compare this to the YS3M Ballcore?? Which one should I get? I like controllable but still smooth and fast cube, can you say which one is smoother, and which has better corner cutting (which is the only thing I don't like about my Tor Flag v3 that's why I'm thinking of getting a new cube)?
Hi Phil. Can you explain how you glued the pieces together. I had tried to do this with the rs3m 2020 but I couldn't get the pieces to join together cleanly.
Agree that the SV2 seemed like an attempt to mimic the Gan brand/pricing. I didnt buy one and as an adult who can afford whatever cubes i want that days everything you need to know about whether the pricingvwas realistic. Have a V5 on order though, looks like much better value
I believe the Super V2 was more expensive because of the construction of the cube. It's the only recent moyu cube with cap construction instead of the split piece design. Could be the quality of the plastic aswell.
@@craterellus3577 just because theyre both capped doesnt mean it should cost the same. Super is 48, and the tornado is 45 so not a huge difference . I was just pointing out one detail that phil didn’t mention that could have an impact on the price.
I have a question. I’m debating between the Dayan Guhong Pro Maglev (56mm), and the RS3M V5 UV Coated Ball Core, and I’m not sure which one I should get. I’ve never tried corner-to-core magnets before, and I want to give myself the best feel and experience possible. Right now I average around 23 seconds. My only problem is that I currently have a really aggressive and inaccurate turning style. I’m asking ahead of time so when I do fix my turning, I know which cube to upgrade to when or if I do need to upgrade. I currently have a Super RS3M V1 Maglev, but I really want to try corner-to-core magnets and see how that feels.
I wanna know, the difference with wrm v9 special ed. ,hw difference and feeling difference and I wanna the same info about rs3m v5 spring dual adj. Vs super rs3m last building no more glossy but half matte external plastic
6:34 maybe the uv coating process was new and therefore expensive and now it’s cheaper bc they got everything set up Also im sure many cube companies use save labor so whatever
I'd love to see more meaningless videos like this. MoYu's pricing strategy for the WRM V9 was to copy GAN's strategy. And I guess they came to the realization that it doesn't work for them.
Skin’s looking good, nice solves too

I was about to buy the v2 but seeing this video changed my opinion and now i will get the v5 instead of the v2 for chrismas.
That's a good idea. The V5 is way better.

I have this cube, duh. But heres my burning question, should I get the Weilong V10 spring version or just stick with this v5?
How does it compare to the weilong v9 SE abd normal weilong bc
How does this cube compare to the WRM V9? I currently use the YS3M and am thinking of getting either the RSV5 or WRMV9!

What cube would you recommend the most? Guhong pro/ Rs3m v5/ weilong v9 SE/ Ys3m bc.
I like the tornado v3 for comparison.
Have you chosen one of them? I am too looking for new cube.

The tornado v3 has a capped design, so why should the super v2 cost so much more?

I didn’t get mine yet 😢
Rs3 v5 or picube wrm?
Do you think this is better, than the tornado v3, ys3m and even the weilong v9? I'm looking to get one of these cubes and I can't decide.
I get better times on the V5 out of all those cubes. That's a bit subjective though. All the cubes you named are world class.
how does the core magnet auto-aligning compare to the v9? also do you think the corner cutting is a huge issue?
the auto align is slightly less, corner cutting isnt an issue in modern cubes, anything more than 30 degrees is useless unless u turn like a gorilla
oh hi urakov
It looks like you are doing rotation-less solves every time!
I’m averaging 16-19s right now.. any tips for going rotation less? 😭

The v5 feels blockier and more stable. Naturally, it's less flexible.

I think that's kind of a stretch. At that point, they had already UV coated other cubes.
what is the magnet strength of the variants of the v5
I'd sa it's medium
Is it better than the se v9?
I enjoy both cubes but I'm getting better times on the v5
I think by making the super v2 expensive it would make the super v5 a lot more appealing. I think that was reason behind it’s crazy cost.

are those some sune zbs??
nah, I don't know any besides the super basic ones. It's not enough to call it sune zb.
