Other sites don't show the entire effort it takes to do this job. with my first efforts it leads me to believe I won't "enjoy" the tight space. LOL For those who were less than positive in their comments, why don't they up load a video of their efforts?

I had to use my palm ratchet to put in the left side anyway and don't think I could of done that with the bracket in the way. My 97 ck1500 has the air bag right above the plenum and it made the opening a little tighter than what yours looked. But bottom line without your video I believe I would still be out there sweating. Thanks for the video, I thought my brother's plumbing truck was a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500, turns out it's a 1999 Chevy TAHOE! Looks like I'll be able to get the AC back after I order some parts, we've been through 3 weeks of Texas Hell traveling to jobs! I took out the blower motor and connected it to my test 12V battery, it makes a funny sound, so I know the ball bearings on it are bad. We've been using a 12V DC fan from Autozone to not die in the meantime 😅😅😅😅

    When you reattatch the relay at about 16:25 I'd say, first screw in the hole that's directly facing you, then you can bend it clockwise and have it lay flat against the resistor array hole, simplifying reinstallation.

    I replaced my blower motor and now my tahoe dies and the battery starts smoking. Any idea why it's doing that? The wires aren't crossed and the blower works but my battery starts smoking

    • @bnaudio7813
      @bnaudio7813  Před 2 lety

      disconnect the blower motor and if it stops killing the battery, then either you have the wires backwards or the motor itself is wired backwards. if its in the blower motor simply return it for a replacement.

    So my issue is that my rear blower has a continuous blow on high and air no heat. The knobs won’t control it to turn it off. I have a 99 Chevy Tahoe. Does this work to stop the blower or will I need to do something with the knobs?

    Does it matter which way the resistor assembly goes into the blower box also how do you test the resistor. I installed a used resistor and still blower don't work.

    • @bnaudio7813
      @bnaudio7813  Před 11 měsíci

      As far as which way it goes. It can mount either way, but your wiring harness probably only has enough movement one way. It's been awhile since I did this. As, far as testing, get your multimeter, ground it and red over each metal filament. Each position on the dash knob creates a different resistance in each position. There are 3 pieces in the system. The dash controller assembly, the element, and the blower motor. If your getting different resistance at the element, then the dash assembly is good sending voltage to the element. If you want to check the blower motor itself, grab a cordless drill battery and run a speaker wire to the motor to see if it blows. Let me know.

    I have a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT which I replaced the blower motor resistor and the blower motor too, but my heater and air conditioner are still not working. Could it be a relay or the HVAC Control panel/ module that needs to replaced too? Trying to fix this before winter arrives. Thanks.

      behind the hvac panel. there is a swtich type of do hickey that goes between the harness and the actual knob in the front. it runs 20 25 on ebay typically. you can put a volt meter on 20v dc and see if you have low voltage power at the element. each position of the control has different voltage. if you have no voltage there then its that do hickey. i will find the name of it

      Then it didnt work all the time. took the dash bezel out and then it worked again. what i had happening was the harness was not staying engaged do to the white shroud breaking over time and not staying in the dash. you could just buy a new hvac control piece like this one.

      the blower was not blowing. tested it with a 12v battery and it worked. so it then has to be the element or the control switch in the dash.

      @@martinmoffitt4702 left the blower motor in. just used speaker wire on a cordless battery to power it on. you can use a multimeter with the red probe going across one element and black on ground. turn ignition on, rotate controller and see if you get voltage on the element your probing. each one has a different value. if you have different resistance on each element. then the black part on the back of the control knob is bad. you can order those on ebay for 25ish.
