I was attending this concert just after I had turned 18 years old; you can find me at 1:40/:41 in suit and tie. The recording really shows that even a majority of police men and watchdogs could not stop us to enjoy ourselves to be finally free after so many years of post-nazi treatment and pushing around.

Bill Haley & The Comets became the first-ever rock 'n' roll band to tour the UK, Europe, South America and Australia. Among those who saw Bill Haley & The Comets perform on their landmark first UK tour in 1957 and who were inspired to start their own rock 'n' roll bands - were future members of: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Hollies, The Animals, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Rod Stewart and many of the other musicians who formed the British Invasion.

Well said!, a lot of people forget that, especially music journalists.

love this clip with German youth keen to discard the past, be free and rock n roll.. whilst goons in uniforms try to curb the enthusiasm..Billy Haley did the hard yards in those early years of true rock n roll...let freedom reign!

Wow - awesome classic footage of a real rock 'n roll riot! Until now I had only read about Bill's foreign adventures - thanks! Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

That was why unfortunately it was controversial for the time, 1950s era Rock & Roll as awesome it sounds didn't really fly with some people especially with parents who were World War II veterans and didn't like their kids listing to this when it first came out

no need to fight children, cause rock an roll is here to stay

The 50's was the first wave rock music then in the 60's and 70's came The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones to name a few and also symbolized a revolution that defined youth worldwide in the years to come.

Haley started it, but then a good looking, sexy 21 year old came along and the rest is, as they say, history, but I still remember my introduction to this exciting music was Bill Haley and for this I thank him, I feel sorry for this generation, it is all manufactured pap, all manufactured idols, thanks to the internet I can live again.

The Comets were a great band.

So VERY cool to see the early rebellion of rock and roll teenaged fans......weird that there is not even ONE female show in the crowd of fans though....no ? Rock has not seen any true rebellion though, since the garage rock revival in the home of dirty rock and roll Detroit Michigan in the late 90's early 2000's. Home of the MC5, White Stripes, Iggy and The Stooges, Alice Cooper, The Dirtbombs, Detroit Cobras etc. etc.....

loungelizard5000, Thanks pal, I can tell by your password you are of the, should I say, more mature end of the scale, or maybe you are a more enlightened member of the younger end, but either way, thanks, oh for the days of lounge lizards the lucky good looking bastards.
