- Hi there everyone. I'm Terry Miles and I am resuming my 'Pub Piano Quest' here in the UK. Today, I happened upon this beautiful pub here in North Devon called 'The Kings Arms' in Winkleigh, a friendly local that happened to have a piano in it. I, of course couldn't resist and just had to go in, play some Boogie Woogie Piano and soak up the wonderful atmosphere and stay for a couple of ciders. The absolutely splendid hosts there, Faye and Rich made us all very welcome. Highly recommended if you're ever in the location. Special thanks to Emery Slade for filming and directing this video for me.

This is symbolic of what's missing from our culture: a sense of communal light hearted fun and good cheer. Everybody takes themselves way too seriously

I went down the Boogie Woogie rabbit hole after Dr K's CCP incident. It's all just pure joy. Especially, Terry's pub piano clips. The man is the epitome of the talented, eccentric English gentleman, bringing joy wherever he goes.

I had a mate who was a fantastic pianist. every pub we went to that had a piano in he'd end up on it after a few drinks. the atmosphere would always suddently burst in to life and we'd have the whole place singing along. wish it was more of a widespread thing.
Live music, coupled with a cheeky slurp or two, is the best tonic in the world!

@@benarcher7411 youngsters have. That’s why there is very little money to be made in music anymore. They have access to Spotify for a few quid a month. Luckily vinyl sales are helping. Not a negative comment just my experience of playing to millions of people on tv, radio, tours and countless major festivals (in the past!) I would never speak for everyone..

My mother played by ear, woke me every morning for school pounding out her music (my fav was alley cat). My father would put single pages of newspaper between the strings and hammers (?), made it sound like rag town piano. Wonderful. Ahh, memories

Being from Texas, I instantly recognized the tune as "Red River Valley". That boogie version of it was excellent and obviously enjoyed by pub patrons. Wish I'd been there.

Being from Manitoba, I instantly recognized the tune as "Red River Valley". The Red River (of the North) is poised to spring its banks any time, and flood us, but meanwhile, this boogie version of it was excellent. Wish I'd been there!

And this my friends, is why we crowded the pubs and halls back in the day, bluetooth will never replace the joy of seeing average Joes with above average talent, making music and enjoying doing it. Be it jazz, rock or blues, it was always uplifting.

Man this is so different than most places in the USA. Its so quiet outside, beautiful day, walk into this little cozy pub and you finally see some people just relaxing enjoying their day in good company. It seems so nice, makes me wish I was there. My grandfather sang to me when I was 3 or so in his lap. It was the saddest thing I had ever heard. I would make him stop, which cracked him up. And made him always sing it and sing it extra sad and lonesome.
That was a legendary performance, was not expecting that!! Anyone who doesn't appreciate how extraordinarily difficult that is, they should try it
