Sora will never get cancelled for cringe because he speaks English, and if there's one thing I've learned from this channel, it's that people that speak English basically become rockstars in Japan. The ultimate loophole.
The irony is that their actual rock stars don't speak English, but keep trying to anyway.
If this video is anything to go by, he still could: for speamkng English "wrong", which is actually right, but the people who would be convinced it's wrong because that's how they learned it.

It is incomprehensibly stupid, the Idol tradition has damaged Japan culturally in very bad ways. Not that it is inherently bad, but if left unchecked, it can cause great damage.

I know of a story of a Japanese voice actress who got harassed online. The reason is that there was a certain controversy involving an anime, not one she had any involvement with - neither the controversy nor the anime itself. But there was a post on an anonymous message board that claimed she was dating the producer of the show at the time. It was so bad that her Twitter account had to be deleted.

The anti crowd got so bad that she left all her voice acting gigs that involved any chinese company and had to take a break from the industry for nearly a month only focusing on small roles in anime until very recently since there were some antis that wanted to stalk her too.

Reason 1: The "Hey-You" Guy really toned down his signature... um, tone of righteous anger with just a hint of frustration, and is now the much-more-laid-back "Yes, Everyone" Guy.
Reason 2: On a couple occasions, he had difficulty maintaining his typical stoic demeanor while explaining why these various cancellations or near-cancellations occured.

The whole thing about j pop stars having to hide the fact that they're in a relationship has always seemed strange to me. It's like, ya, they're people too. Of course they are going to be in a relationship at some point.🤷

If you base your career through selling yourself as an idol, you cannot not expect backlash for getting into a relationship. That has always been how the idol culture worked in Japan for many years. The biggest reason being how money is made by these idols. Please dont expect that otakus will continue to be willing to spend thousands of dollars a month on you if you(the idol) cannot respect this unspoken rule. A huge part of idol oshi culture is about supporting them and watching their growth as an idol. The journey is very important to fans. If you get into a relationship it is often seen as a huge breach of trust with fans. This is a 2 way relationship between idols and fans. There are options that these idols can take to "be human and get into a relationship." For example, they graduate from the group. In fact many idols graduate and get married and have a kid within a year of graduation. I am specifically talking about idol culture, and not Jpop artistes here. There are many Jpop groups or singers that do get into a relationship and do not suffer a huge backlash from fans.

It's amazing the lengths Japanese society goes through to discourage people from getting laid while also making more porn than any other country.
