I love your tutorials. SHhort and to the point. Other developers often waste time describing their thinking around every little detail and end up with 40+ minute tutrials that are information-poor. You speak a little too fast for me, but combined with the clear UI in your videos, yours are easy to understand and follow and don't waste my time. I have a number of your addons for blender and I'm veery happy with all of them. Spyderfy was especially fun getting a swarm of bats flying around my house! ;)
I think this format is great for the "intro" and then proceed with the "step by step". Anyways, great material!
Thank you for the input!!
Freaking awesome! Simple and effective!
Yes we think so too!
Thanks for sharing!!
For sure!
hi im using blender 2.8 but i try to add a collision cube through the menu system but there is no menu system in chaos tab can i ask if there is buttom or a shortcut buttom for menusystem so that I can use a collision cube
im watching your step by step tuturial
Hi i just downloaded Khaos wow its amazing simple and yet powerfull keep up good work
Hey Oliver. Thanks for the kind words. Stay tuned for the coming update of KHAOS as well. We're releasing some really exciting new tools. That will be a free update for you since you already have the original. Happy Blending.
@@LightArchitect WOOOW thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW right now I am making the chaos explosion with burning debris setting up render there will probably be video on my YT channel
I have hard time to form the shape of explosions as I want. When I check the tutorials there are some tips spread out in different tutorials(and different versions of blender). However should be nice to have a tutorial that shows side by side comparisons on the different settings(similar to what you have at 3:29). To easier under stand how they affect the shape.
My plan was to just try to work with one explosion to learn to shape it before I start combine them. Where I struggle is to make the explosions as a mushroom (with thin foot). I can´t figure out how to make it with the 360 ground burst. I should also tried to make an explosion that was quick but the smoke slow expended upwards like a gas can explode. I was not able to do that either :(
Any tips on how to tweak the settings to achieve the two above explosions?
Same problem here :/ I tried legit copy settings from his vids and still didnt get the wanted result...
I also contacted him on blendermarket and he didn't reply to me yet and I gotta say, I am dissapointed
with such price you would expect maybe some basic tutorial that explains the effect of every setting to just have an idea of what to do
I am still hoping that he will release something like that one day or at least answer in the messages in blendermarket with some useful info
Increase the initial velocity and add turbulence, that should do it
Same

Is it possible with Khaos, to have the explosion trigger when that system is struck by another particle system? I would like to create a laser blast shot that triggers an explosion when the laser blast hits an enemy fighter.
Ahh this would be really cool. Sounds like some houdini style node system. As of right now everything in KHAOS is manually created but if we can find a way to do this that is user friendly we would implement it. Definitely have to think about it a bit.
hey! i really like this addon and i really wanna buy it soon. but would it be possible to make good looking gunshots like you have on old sailings ships?id love to make such a scene with this addon.;)btw great video and format!
Every time I bake noise my simulation disappears completely and I have to start over? Is this because of adaptive domain in 2.9? Any tips on how to fix that?
Yes, 2.9 has glitches that still need to be fixed in the mantaflow fluid simulation system. I would use 2.82 or 2.83 for anything simulation wise until it is fixed. -Brad
after baking i dont see any of flame stuff i only see particles any help ?
I bought Khaos yesterday and I love it but I have a few questions
1: Are you planning on updating to 2.9?
2: Is there a way to make bakes faster than I'm not aware of.
3: Is there a way to take a solid mesh and use the principled volume on it? I have a nuke 3d model and I want to use the shader on it
brb watching this 70 times and I still won't know whats happening... impressive
Hahaha well watch it 70 more and you will be an expert in creating explosions in Blender utilizing the KHAOS add-on.
why when i true to use khaos the default explosion amount is 3 and im not able or havent found a way to change it
i have a problem. when i click on "360 ground burst" at 1:21 in the video, it spawns the emitter but not the smoke domain. is this a bug or something?
Same! Did you get a fix for it?
can anyone help. When the smoke is simulated it is very static and has clear trails and does not distripute?
Fire is visible and smoke shadows are visible but no smoke. Got a work around though just make a mix shader add attribute type density in it and link fac to density.
super I like u bro
Thanks for watching!
Will there be a way to add shockwave/compression waves in a future version of Khaos?
Why would we know 🤣
Lickin my chops for 2.9x. Although ground burst artillery blasts work and look pretty much the same for me in 2.9.1
Awesome! I'm gonna download the latest version today and do some testing myself. Thanks for the comment!
@@LightArchitect Yea I hadn't tried it last night but hot damn I wanted those artillery blast so I set a few up and let each one bake, which seems to take longer than 2.8.3, but I mean I see no difference with the artillery blast settings I first started using. Juts 2.9 allows me to do allot more and I've grown my skill set allot more with this version. I'm gunna light some stuff on fire and see how it goes, even with some of the newest in development versions. As I got the same result however I don't go for bursts of flames as that's not how artillery looks when it hits, but the smoke is all good so I'm gunna spend the day lighting some stuff on fire (In blender, lol). If I can blow my tanks up (2.9 helped me huge with making them) then I'd pay you twice for the same damn plugin
Hey Randmanq, The main difference in 2.9 is that the initial velocity doesn't work in Mantaflow. The simulation smoke only really moves according to the domain settings but not the particles themselves(other than the smoke shape). Just tested it and thought I would let you know my input. Anyways happy blending and if it works for you go for it!
I love how easy this looks but I donť want to buy the plugin until I am sure it works - I found free old version on blender 2.79 but baking takes like all night to complete - Is it faster on newer versions or is it just my PC? I would buy the plugin if I was sure i can make something with it later but right now it just looks that my pc is too slow...
@Choked Boy thnks but I just went for it and bought the addon - Now I do it on Blender 2.92 and I bake like 8x faster
@Choked Boy Yeah, I read on some forums that baking got really faster from 2.79 to 2.80+ (for fluid simulations atleast) also now I use adaptive time steps with more accurate setting then default
Idea, and something I plan to try out in a future explosion test. Concussive wave via some sort of transparent shader with ior set to a to be determined value. The low pressure wave that proceeds the concussion could be a simple sphere shell volume with a noise texture applied that expands at the same rate as the concussion.
That would be super cool. We've experimented with shockwaves in the past but always got sidetracked with something else. Definitely will look back into it.
Hi! Nice add on but even if I follow the tutorial, my render (cycle ,128res 3Noise) explosion is completly white..Like a flash.I don't see any orange. It seems that's a problem with the fire because the smoke looks well. any explanations?? It's frustrating when I see your results..;) Thks
@Choked Boy i've tried 2.83 worked best for me but settings should be different than tutorial does
What addons i need for this to work? Im using blender 2.91
Hi, you need the Khaos addons.
Hi CarGuyReview, Danny is right. You would need the KHAOS add-on. Simulation is glitchy in 2.9 though so until mantaflow is fixed we recommend 2.82 or 2.83.
-Brad
KHAOS is available on Blendermarket.com
@@dannybouchard4140 Beat me to it Danny!
@@LightArchitect Thx bro
@@CroGamesPl9 For Sure!
Does this have a sample blend file for beginners?
No but this is a good idea. Might include one in the future.
Are there any example scenes for Khaos.
Hey John, What exactly are you looking for? A live action scene or a blendfile of the explosion?
-Brad
@@LightArchitect Just a blend file with the basic explosion. I think it would go a long way to helping people see how easy it is to use, without having to spend time setting it up. Always good for sales to have a few example scenes to play with.
@@LightArchitect I like the idea of having a sample blend file as well. I've watched the truck explosion tutorial several times, but it would be nice to have something to look at and study.
1:22 i get this error on console:
Python: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Users\ezebs\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.3\scripts\addons\khaos3_1_install_wdestoolsparticles_v10\__init__.py", line 4524, in execute
bpy.context.object.modifiers["Fluid"].fluid_type = 'FLOW'
KeyError: 'bpy_prop_collection[key]: key "Fluid" not found'
Hi I bought the Khaos explosion plugin I installed them on blender 2.83 also on 2.82, and I wanted to do the tutorial the one with the truck but I realized that I can hardly move anything, everything slowed down as soon as I clicked on dynamic smoke / fire and directional burst nothing moves anymore except in slow motion, I don't know what it depends on, my computer has 16 gb ram and my graphics card 8 gb I don't know why everything goes so slowly, then I wanted to ask you please if when you do the tutorials for this plugin, try to do them more slowly and more understandable because most of the time you can't even see what you clicked, too bad because the plugin is a nice plugin but you also have to find a way to explain it well and above all slowly, ok ? thanks, see you soon....
Hey Pegasus, I'm not sure what could be the issue other than computer specs. Do you mind me asking what machine you are working on?
@@LightArchitect HI! yes my PC: intel i7 24 Gb ram , AMD RAdeon 5500 XT 8 Gb. is not the maximum, should be enough.
I just bought this but Does this work with Blender 4.0?
Hi Anand thanks for reaching out. We haven't yet tested for Blender 4.0. We will soon.
@@LightArchitect thank you!
Can we do smoke plumes using Khaos? I mean, just smoke plumes. The big kind, from gas explosions and such.
It is so interesting that you ask this because we just started working on a system for this yesterday! A tutorial and update for KHAOS smoke plumes preset should be out soon!
@@LightArchitect fantastic news! Can't wait!
How would I go about making this without the add on?
Hi TheBulletKin. The same concepts still apply. You just need to create the fuel systems and setup/customize the smoke domain manually. Then you'll need to create your own fire shader.
Do we have to use 2.92 or is 2.93 ok
2.93 is ok but has seems to have some glitches in the mantaflow system so you may get a different looking less controllable result. That's why we recommend 2.92. Let us know if you have any more questions.
Dont working on blender ver. 3.2 Error Python =-(((((
First
Hahaha you are! Before I could even add a comment myself!
@@LightArchitect 😊😊
in blender 3.3 it doesn't work at all.
To begin with, when I create the collider cube I get an error through the console that it does not find the parameter "effector" as a type of fluid, the same thing when I want to import the 360 groundburst domain, again I get an error through the console, and only The smoke/fire particle emitter generates me but without any configuration in its parameters, the type of fluid as "none"
This addon is very unstable, a shame because what can be achieved with this is great
hey there i bought this addon and i put all these settings like in vid and i just got so cringe explosion, not that cool like in video
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. The simulations in Blender can take a bit of experimentation to get what you want. I recommend increasing the initial velocity parameters a bit more for most explosions in the later versions of Blender...and also adding turbulence force fields to make them more random.
Why does my explosion look slow? Yours expands fast, but mine expands slowly.
Nevermind. I didn't realize i was on 2.91.
@@mevou2662 does 2.91 not work the same?
Yep 2.91 is different. We are working on an update for KHAOS in 2.92 this week. Still some slight differences but we are trying to find all of the glitches in mantaflow and setting up our defaults to work around them.
Does it work in Linux?
Almost. We have an update coming!
@@LightArchitect Yes! I'm dying to blow up things :D
What is the purpose of this turorial to do it so quickly? I can barely follow this.
Hi Jan, This is more of a general overview video than a tutorial utilizing KHAOS. If you would like an in depth tutorial I recommend checking out our Truck Explosion tutorial here: czcams.com/video/H9DK_kmSg7A/video.html
Hope this helps! -Brad
in 2.9 blender, where is the bake simulation when making an explosion?(without add ons)
For 2.9 mantaflow is not working without glitches as far as my understanding right now. It should be in the same place though.
step by step please... there are so many parameters we can't follow ... need to understand what we are doing.
Hi George. Thanks for the comment. We have a lot of step by step explosion tutorials on this channel. We will continue to make more though . Let us know if you want to see something specific.
not working for 2.9
Yes we are waiting for mantaflow to be up and running in 2.9. I recommend running sims in the latest version of 2.83 in the meantime.
I spent $35 on this add-on and can't even get them to answer a simple question for me. I have messaged them several times and NO response.
Hi Rod,
Just responded to your message. Sorry we were out on set yesterday. Let us know if you have any more questions.
@@LightArchitect Thanks. I responded back. Please read, then hopefully good. Remember, I using Blender 4.0 Thnx!
