My case is also in administrative processing 221(g). My visa category is F2B. US consulate Mumbai sent me 221(g) white letter asking to submit original passport, medical, PCC, 2 photos, affidavit of support, 2020 IRS tax transcript and updated DS-260 confirmation. I submitted these all these documents on November 16,2021. Since November 22,2021 the system has been showing REFUSED status. The case last updated date initially changed from November 22,2021 to December 27,2021 and then it changed to February 4,2022. On March 7,2022 the case last updated date changed to March 7, 2022 but status is still REFUSED. The original passport and original documents are still at the US consulate.

Could you explain why they are processing cases back from Febuary 17 and they already processes Febuary and March ... and now the estimated time is 10 - 13 months 😫 thats so unfair

Good luck in your interview, but you would not receive 221(g) in your type of interview. This happens at embassies abroad only.

@Nawid Faiz No! They didn't require any extra documents and they don't use this term of background check. They just refused under 221(g) administrative processing. No definite timeline for them to decide when it will be completed.
Well my case is unique I have already been issued two visit visas for us and I visited twice but now when I recently applied they put me on this administrative process
Hello Lady. thank you so much for this explanation. I am sailor more than 20 years.I live in Montenegro whole my life. I had aproved (in the the past) more than 6 visas for seamans.But few days ago i was rejected with 221g administrative processing without any explanation .All required documents and garant letter from company i had but reason for rejection i didn't get. Also i find some statment from official website of the US State Department that said during the last year, 34,03 percent of requests from Montenegro were rejected. Can you please tell me what are my chances to get that visa. i never had any issues with law all my life .thank you
The fkin consular officer refused to even look at our evidence. These guys need to be sued.
Agree! They should look at documents as well, instead of solely judge based off the interview.
We got this due to spouse needing COVID booster. Medical was scheduled day before interview and the panel doctors could not administer due to regulations in Italy and as residents from Malta we were not able to get it from the government run health centers. Very upsetting. Now we are in AP

Nothing of all of what you mentioned was a reason to give my fiancée k1 visa application a 221(g). The interview was perfect! All the required paperwork was provided to IV unit. The consular was totally satisfied and said congratulations and took my fiancée's passport and said that she will receive the visa on passport within 3-5 days. Then, after 3 days, we received an email asking to fill out DS-5535. We filled it out right away. Then, we got this 221(g) with only Administrative Processing required! And they returned back the passport. The main reason was that we are Muslims. I hired an attorney to file a Mandamus Lawsuit against all the feds responsible on all immigration process to get a court order against this sort of discrimination against us. And this is the only solution that we have and it costs us an extra $4500!!!
For sure the embassy didn't give us a clear reason and just kept saying the administrative processing that they pretend that they don't have control over it, but the Muslim religion and/or the country comes from (Iraq), is the reason to get this ridiculous thing!

I did the interview on Apr 6 and they put me into an administrative processing.
Today is Apr 9 but still they didnt send me an email to fill the additional form.
Is the email a mandatory or sometimes they might do their process without a need to fill any additional information or forms ?

I had immigration interview at US Embassy Islamabad with my father and mother in law . My wife is a US citizen.
All of us got a 221 g with two boxes ticked
1) administrative processing (you will be notified if further action is needed)
2) passport(submit via courier)
Embassy demanded no documents.
Is it good sign that they ticked the second option also?

Hi, I had an interview last week for Visit visa, consular congrates me and gave me conditional approval letter. but my status is showing refused now I got yellow paper they asked me to provide all old passports because my all travel history was on my old passport. I already send by post. should I send supporting documents by email or stick with what documents were asked me by post. any chances of visa approval ?

@zainabk don't worry, it will be approved. Most applications got approved after 221g. In my case, it took 4 weeks visa category was visitor.
My husband had his interview and physical exam. In his interview they gave him a paper to send his passport after his physical exam he sent his passport and a day after of sending it we got an email from the embassy of a 221g saying they want his passport which he had sent a day before that email, after sending his passport it has been 2 months and we finally have a change in the status from refused to Ready .What does it mean? He already had an interview and physical exam is he being scheduled for a 2nd interview ?or is this their way of saying visa will be issued ?

Actually I have been admitted to a fully funded PhD program through offering RA, but because of not meeting minimum language score requirements needed for TA, I wasn't eligible for TA, and this is mentioned in my offer letter, in my offer letter they said I am not eligible to be TA until I submit sufficient language score,

I had IR1 interview on 1st july 2022 and i got 221g white slip, it says:
My file is incomplete therefore they have refused my visa. Also they have kept my case in Administrative Processing. There is one line which says "Please be advised that for US visa purposes include ESTA the decision constitute a denial Visa"

I had my interview on the 9th of August I was given my rights to the USA after the interview also they give me a white paper saying I should translate my UAE police clearance to English also I should proof my relationship I did submit all they have asked now my case is showing administrative processing what should I expect? ( IR1).

DS160 Visa has been rejected without interview for the third time, hence we've provided all possible and supported documents such as Bank statement with fair amount, salary statement, home title, family.

I went to interview on 14 April and officer took my passport and said visa approved and gave me green paper to track passport. On the next day i checked visa status and it was refused. I after 2 days i got an email from them that they gave me 221g refusal and i need to send some basic information about family and itinerary travel plans.
