    Ummm 🤔Interesting! I never thought or noticed that. Thank you so much buddy. I can tell you, you’re doing a good and amazing job. I watched all the videos you posted on CZcams they are well thoughtful and spot on details. Several times when I needed an information about trucks and towing trailers you always pin-point very important stuff just like these information you enlisted... I can only be greatful, thank you!

    Very informative video. Thank you. I had a Reese in my last truck. Went with the B&W in the new one. American made......and the sheer weight of it. For two hitch balls that are rated to tow the same amount of trailer weight, the B&W sure weighs a lot more! To my old school way of thinking, it seems that a heavier hitch ball that is forged, rather than cast, is probably the best choice.

  • @MrJomess
    @MrJomess Před 4 lety +11

    The B&W being USA made makes it the winner. The only complaint being the bed space it takes up makes it the big winner. It looks like it takes all of two seconds to remove it if you need the space. Great video as usual!

    I looked at ALL the exact aspects you just went over on Curt, Reese & B & W before deciding on the B & W last December. Hands down the BEST option, especially love the chain hook design of the B & W. The storage case for B & W also much better quality IMHO

    A friend of mine picked up a B&W 5th wheel hitch a few months ago at a pick a part yard, damn thing looked brand new...it was the 20k adjustable type, looks like those things are $1200+...the guy running the register had no clue what he had, didn't care, or well from what I found out later on, any receiver hitch at the yard is $25. so he got a $1200 5th wheel hitch for $25. its now mounted on his F350 LOL.

    I guess a nice thing with those safety chain anchors you can take the gooseneck ball out and leave those safety chain anchors as additional bed tie down points for cargo when you aren't towing.

    I'm biased, I like my B&W turnover ball. Ball and safety chain hooks are always there, just flip the ball and pull the hooks up. I don't use a 5th wheel hitch, but if I did, the pucks look like the best option.

    With our 2000 F350 -- aka a *real* truck = 8' bed and a sheet of plywood lays flat between the fender wells with the tailgate up -- I loved our B&W turnover ball from 2012 thru 2023. But since then we had an aluminum flat bed installed and it has it's own gooseneck ball down inside the bed with a cast aluminum cover which pops up and slides out the way. The installers removed the B&W system. I kept all the pieces together and was able to sell it for half of what a new system would have cost. :)

  • @harleyd500
    @harleyd500 Před 3 lety

    The height of these various balls would also have to play well with the amount of adjustment in the Goose Box height, bed rail clearance and trailer levelness. I guess they would allow for some fine tuning for these considerations. We have the short CURT and it gives us 6" bed rail and very slightly nose high on the trailer. Not sure if I could raise the goose box another hole to use the tallest B&W without making the trailer even more nose high.

    Getting ready to buy either a B&W Companion or the Reese Goosebox and I'm alittle stumped. Reviewing your vids, it looks like you are an advocate of the Goosebox system, but I've also seen you recommend the B&W Companion. Is this a function of weight? If I'm looking at a GVWR in the 16k range, would the Goosebox be recommended, but if I got over 20k (toyhauler), the B&W is a better solution? I'm leaning towards the Goosebox for the obvious advantages since we likely aren't in a large 5th wheel for several years (if ever). Really appreciate all of the content that you've produced - it has been invaluable to us in increasing our truck and RV knowledge.

    OK. I've got a couple questions for you. Just watched your video on Goose ball Comparison. Thanks for the comparison. That stated. I have recently ordered the 2023. Ford F-450. And I have a couple questions. I sent you an e-mail. According to my e-mail, it was received. Maybe you don't have time. My questions right now in are reference to the goose ball, bed mat. And. The Reese Goose hitch. You had main mentioned in your. Previous reviews that Reese is most likely coming out with a 24,000 pound Version? My questions are as follows. I realized that the B &W. Goose Ball takes up a little bit more space. But it looks like that's the one you've resolved to using, Primarily for what you stated; Bed rail clearance. I also plan to put a retractable bed. cover on the truck whenever I do have it. I'm assuming I will lose a bit of clearance one way or another, so that will probably make a bit of difference. In reference to your bed liner. A long time ago I had a 1500 series. GM with the bed liner. By bed rug. That fully encompassed the bed of the truck. It was a gift and I loved it. I have not had one since. I don't think I would want another to fully encompass the the truck. I'm just looking for something to cover. The flat portion or should I say? The floor of the truck. You seem to have had this product in a couple of your trucks. Do you feel that it drains well? If it gets wet.? also, is it a bedrug product or another? Product.? Lastly.? If. Reese is coming out with a 24,000 pound version of replacement hitch. Would you know about it? If not, who would you recommend contacting?? I have a 45' DRV. Toy hauler as you probably already know. These are very heavy Riggs. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your channel. your honest and unbiased opinions go a long way out there. I enjoy watching your videos. I don't think I've missed any. God Bless, Ed

    Thinking about transitioning from a travel trailer to a 5th wheel. On a 5th wheel, is the connection method (goose box or pin box) an option? Also, how does hitch height differ between the two relative to clearance? Recently acquired a 2022 F-250 Super Duty with the 7.3L motor. Unfortunately, the 5th wheel prep pkg wasn't included but I'm told a goose ball can be added. Heading to North TX in a couple of weeks and will begin my research. Thinking about talking to trailer people first - lots of equine applications in the Prosper area. You have any experience with the Andersen goose box solution?

      From what I've found is that it's simply because if a fifth wheel hitch is not secured and locked, you'll know within a few feet of moving (when it slides off the back), with a Gooseball, you could forget to lock the coupler and not know until you hit a bump and the rig detached.

      @@codydunn242 if the socket in your truck bed is smooth, there must be another latching mechanism. There are different mechanisms from different manufacturers; these four shown are all the same because they're all designed to work with the same ball socket design factory-installed in a truck.

    The curt and Reese aren’t any different in getting “dirty”

  • @cameronmcwhinney-holt3195

    The curt ball is the worst gooseneck ball ever made I have had to cut so many of the little latches on top then punch the guts through the bottom. If you buy a truck with the puck system bite the bullet buy a B and W from the start with the big handle on it. I have never seen one of those get stuck in the truck. If you use that curt ball for more than 2 months it will not come out without a fight, if you have thieves arround and dont care about having a complete flush bed then buy the curt. ✌🇺🇸
