This show may be scripted but it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I would watch it with my grandpa just about every day before he passed. We absolutely loved it.
Yea it's a little disappointing when things like the Mummy mask deal happen where dude said No and was about to walk away...without his mummy mask...it shows that even the haggling is most likely scripted at least most of the time..i understand some of it has to be scripted but it shouldn't be this much.. however I'm with u that this series is a special one even though it's mostly scripted
@Rockboy8 Pebbles same here but i miss the old man ...I've watched like 40 min of this video so far and i haven't seen him once
Why people obsess over the scripted part is beyond me.
whats scripted about it? just the negotiations?
@@SHAE141 nah if i had to estimate I'd say like 75% of it is scripted but still it's a good series that does at least fall into the category of History

this is one of the only shows where yes it's scripted But they Literally Teach and Educate u on Everything they are Buying...a true blessing
It’s amazing how many people think it’s real
@@doomedbringer I mean, I do understand why some people, including yourself it seems like, are at least somewhat disappointed because of the fact that the show is scripted. However, that being said, personally I really don't understand exactly why that is because in my opinion the show being scripted doesn't take anything away from the show overall in general, ya know? It's not like if the show wasn't scripted that it would be any different or be drastically changed in any noticable way. I just think that the reason why it's scripted is because they needed some type of way to be able to tell when an item coming in was worth filming and putting into the episode, or when something coming in was either just total garbage or simply just wasn't something that they felt like they wanted to include in the episode that they were creating because it didn't really go along with the overall theme of that episode and therefore they left it out on the cutting room floor. Either way though, I guess my point is that the show being scripted is really just simply the way that the crew and everyone else involved can determine exactly what's going on and can understand what they're supposed to be doing at that point in time etc. Who cares if the actual buying and selling parts are technically pre-agreed upon and are technically already done by the time they actually film that specific negotiation, ya know? As I said already, it really doesn't take anything away from the show AT ALL, and it's definitely most likely more for the crew and everyone behind the cameras than it is for any of the cast members or the customers or experts that they're filming at that current time. So yeah, honestly I really just don't understand at all exactly why so many people seem to be putting up such a big stink about that and why they're acting like because of that reason alone, the entire show is essentially ruined and they can no longer even watch it because they know that it's technically "fake", even though despite it being somewhat scripted they still have no idea what the outcome is gonna be regarding any of the negotiations or exactly what's gonna happen with each customer and if any of the guys are actually gonna be purchasing the item or if they'll pass or the customer is simply just asking for far too much and isn't leaving any room for the shop to make any money off of the item/items in general. The viewers have no clue about any of that, so that being said, how is the show "ruined" if that's the reality of the situation?
@@poncho_x4410 did i say disappointed? no i did not, you are assuming things i never said XD. Its still entertaining, but the simple fact is its all scripted. Example: people dont just walk in off the street, they only go into the shop to film, otherwise they arent there, its all on a script
@@poncho_x4410 also if you want people to actually read insane amounts of text like that, learn to use paragraphs

People really think keeping up with the karadshians and the Jersey shore aren't scripted lol this is way better than that trash.
Rick's a stand up dude for that deal on the high relief peace dollar. One thing I like about him is how he let's the customers know if their item is worth more than they're asking
@Rockboy8 Pebbles its only scirpted in how the items are chosen. Basically on recording day, they have ppl get in a special line and 3-4 items are chosen to be shown. The actual deals are not. So when Rick said "its worth more than that" it was not scripted. They probably get told to haggle a lil for t.v. sake but that's it. As for the stuff that happens between customers, idk. I cant see "The Old Man" remembering lines and cues.

This show has thoroughly convinced me to never buy or sell anything in a pawn shop.
Stephen Hogan they're a bunch of hustlers
Honestly this pawnshop gives BETTER deals than your average place. They have a lot of overhead covered by the pay from the show and are just as concerned with entertainment as making money on pawns.
This is not a real pawn shop. If you have never been to a real pawn shop, try it just for fun. Take something fairly valuable that you know the value of and walk in. You will get quite the education. Then realize real pawn shops are for the desperate or fencing. It is a business that takes advantage of people's misery and desperation.
@@CaptainCraigKWMRZ Yep, most pawn shops exist for two reasons; selling stolen/counterfeit goods and tax day. You can find some pretty sweet deals, though, if you shop around at the right shops. Some places can be more like a salvation army or an antique store depending on the location.
