@@extremechimpout I mean, yeah, that's true. However, I thought that the actual shop was like right next door or something like that and if someone came into the real shop with an item that was worth putting on TV then they would come over to the set of the show and then they would film the interaction which was probably already done in some way so that they know to at least some extent how the conversation and negotiation is gonna go etc. Some people have made such a big deal out of the fact that they use a set and have previously established people selling items that have already been negotiated for and that both parties are aware of whether it's gonna be bought or not. Personally, I really don't think it's all that big of a deal. Especially considering the fact that they needed some type of way to help distinguish between the customers who don't have anything worth filming and the customers who do. Simple.

    • @Sharkz117

@@stevevoltmann2787 I mean it should be pretty obvious that it's scripted by how rinse and repeat it is, with the only difference between occurrences being the people and the item(s). It's always customer walks up, briefly describes the item, presents what they want, pawn shop calls an expert, expert gives opinions on item, seller wants what the expert values the item at, pawn shop offers less than 50% of the value mentioned by expert, a little bit of "haggling" and then a sale/walk away.

Sentimentality is subjective. Some people are more sentimental than others. What oft happens is that the item given rots away in storage for years and years without interaction. Looking at it from your perspective it does seem like an assholeish thing to do. The better way (in my opinion) to look at it is simple. The guy doesn't care for or have any passion for the sword or anything it's related to obviously, but he does have a family. What is worth more to him, memories or a sword sitting collecting dust? Not to mention the collector buying it actually being happy to have it on display/in their collection. It's a win win situation, which is a good outcome, no?
