    While I appreciate this helpful video, it is incredibly frustrating that this is a known problem and it is still being sold like this... It is a massive waste of time and a risk to the TV having to unmount the TV while in the up-position (since most people will not find this video), remove the mount, deal with adjusting the strap then re-install everything. The unintuitive remote control, the fact it can't go down to 90 degrees... I completely regret buying this thing.

    is there a recall for this model-sn?
    Is there a reason as to why it gets stuck? or are there preventative measures to take to prevent this from happening? I have a client who purchased this mount end of last summer and is now waiting for my company to install as soon as warm weather sticks. seeing this video now concerns me from actually installing it and possibly running into this issue down the road. as a custom installer i would hate to put myself in that position. any insight?

      The problem can usually be avoided during setup of the mount. Once the TV is mounted but before the arm is raised, check to make sure there isn't any slack in the lifting belt. If there is, use the pitched ceiling adjustment instructions found in the controller manual to set the minimum position of the arm, making sure the belt still has tension on it when fully lowered.
      The problem has typically happened when the arm isn't able to fully reach the default lowered position for one reason or another, causing some confusion to the mount's memory. When that has happened to the point of getting stuck, resetting the belt and making sure the minimum height of the arm is set has completely fixed and prevented further problems in most cases.

    Can you use this thing without a remote. I'm in an Airbnb and there is no remote for this, Tv is tucked it at an annoying angle and there are no buttons on the product itself. Kinda dumb that you're hopeless when you're remote goes missing or breaks

    are you saying there are holes in the belt that you then put the screws thru? I find that part of the vid just a bit unclear thank you

      Yes, there are 2 holes at the end of the belt that line up with 2 of the screw holes in the mount.

    How can I tell if the pully is bad?

      A bad pulley would slip on the shaft and not pull the belt up at all, or if the mount has a bad gear, it might try to lift a little before slipping back down with a grinding noise.     My remote has stopped working. I changed the batteries out and still nothing. The red light at the top of remote does not light up.

    Are you kidding me!? You have to remove the TV, and completely take this freaking thing apart, then re-install.. I’ve had this thing a week and it’s stuck in the up position. What a POS.

      We're very sorry that this problem has happened with your mount! This is something that we are actively working to improve.
      If you are able to do this reset so the mount is once again operational, there may be a minor adjustment that can prevent it from happening again. When the mount is fully lowered, check to see if the belt is still pulled tight or if it has any slack. If there is slack, unplug the mount for 10 seconds, plug it back in, then follow the pitched ceiling adjustment instructions in the remote manual to raise the minimum height by a couple degrees. This will keep the belt tight at all times, which should prevent the height sensor from having any problems that can cause it to raise incorrectly and get stuck.

    I hate this tv mount so much. I have to reset it biweekly for my father in law. Why is there not a safety switch bypass button or a hold button to lower or raise

    There is an IR window on the front of the remote, but there doesn't seem to be anything coming out of it. In the future, consider having an additional IR add-on or something with this system, like an IR target that plugs into a headphone style jack, so people can simply add the remote's commands to their universal remote. Being forced to use the original remote, instead of adding the remote commands to the macros of a universal remote so the TV can be coming down while the system boots up, would be a massive improvement.

      The 55" version of this mount originally had an IR system that could be used with many universal remotes, but since these are often installed in covered patios and gazebos, they would often have trouble operating correctly in the daytime since sunlight can block out IR signals (we received a lot of complaints about this). With the amount of available room inside the mount (which is limited), we unfortunately had to make a choice between one control system or the other. We decided in the end to use the more reliable RF system, and although this unfortunately meant it would no longer work with universal remotes, the overall customer experience and feedback has been greatly improved. We understand that the system doesn't work for everyone though, and have been experimenting with options to try and add some universal compatibility with the RF signal (we do not have anything to announce at this time though).

    You have got to be kidding me… if it get stuck up (as mine is) the only way to reset it is to take it completely down!?!? Are you really going to tell me this was the best “reset” button you could think of?

For this model, taking it down from the ceiling has unfortunately been the only really effective method for getting things back where they need to be so that it can be fully reset to work properly.
