    Wow! Congrats on the name change Artemis!! I've been watching you videos for years now, and am so proud of how much your channel has grown, from music, to fitness, and beyond! :-) BTW, I really love the look of the new lens. Would you mind sharing what lens that is?

    • @ArtemisOfficial
      @ArtemisOfficial  Před 6 lety +4

      Thank you, Jenny! ❤️
      The lens is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens and I've attached it to the Canon EOS Rebel T3i.
      The lens on amazon: amzn.to/2AywNCL
      The body on amazon: amzn.to/2F3QIwx
      The pros of the lens:
      - Great quality
      - Great color
      - Nice depth of field
      The cons:
      - No zoom in/out ability
      - Stays very zoomed in (in the sense that the camera had to be pretty far from me to shoot this video)
      I'm very happy with it! 😊

      Like I said to someone else who expressed they want to change their name, make sure you think it over for a while, even if you feel like your 100% sure.
      I felt disconnected from my name at around 8, discovered and fell in love with the name "Artemis" at around 10, began to grow my deeper connection with the name starting around 14, and seriously considered changing my name to it for months before determining that I was 100% sure! Also, the support of my family and friends helped me to be confident in my decision 😊

    Thank you for making this! My legal name is Courtney, I’m about to change it to Veronica soon .... like a lot of commenters here I went through phases of not liking my name and trying to spell it differently (Cortnee, Court Knee). But it really started to bother me when my group of friends started to include FOUR other Courtney’s. The question of “which Courtney” was asked constantly and it was soo annoying to me. Like I wanted my own identity almost? It was at least 10 years ago so I can’t remember why I chose it, but I said “You know what, just call me Veronica, that’ll end some confusion!” And I slowly started going as Veronica ever since. I love it so much and I think it’s really fitting to me.
    Like I said idk where it came from and I love that you have a sentimental reason behind your new name, but you def don’t have to explain yourself to anyone

    I can relate to so much about your reasoning, I'm 26 & I got married in March of 2017, almost one whole year ago :)
    My husband & I decided to change both our last names to one we thought up together. We're so happy about it! Lately I've been really questioning my first name more & more. I grew up with the same exact thought process when I would write my first name & when someone would say my name (usually mispronouncing it)...SOoooOOoo maybe I'll start brain storming about changing my first name. I want to let go of anything negative & rebirth something new within myself.

    First name, I feel like it’s what I’m getting called at but it doesn’t really feel like me, it’s only what people say to call me. But also it feels weird to say it’s not me, idk. But actually this name is Christian and goes straight against my actual belief I have since like always..
    Also wanna get rid of my family name, as I got hella abused in my childhood and just want to get rid of the connection to this people...

    • @ArtemisOfficial
      @ArtemisOfficial  Před 6 lety +15

      This new name has given me the feeling of getting a new start. I've gone through some dark stuff in my past I'd rather not get into, but changing my name has made me feel like the weight of those bad experiences has somewhat lifted off my shoulders and stayed back with "Elena". Sounds weird, I know. 😅
      If a name change would make you happy, I say go for it! But of course, think it through and make sure it's what you really want. I've had a disconnect with my name since I was around 8, I fell in love with the name "Artemis" at around 10, and I've been considering getting a name change for months before I finally decided to do it. 😊

      A deed poll (a name change document) just needs to say your name is no longer in use and your new name is in use, and signed by 2 witnesses. There’s templates all over online.
      90% of my family are completely fine with my name change, my mother actually helped me choose my new name, but some aren’t so best get them used to your new name before you legally change it, ease them into it.
      Think about when you want to do it, do you have a driving license? No? Maybe do it before so you don’t have to mess around with it. Are you flying anywhere soon? No? Plenty of time to change your passport xx

    I want to change my name to Caroline because I absolutely adore the name and have always hated my actual name which is Emma. My other middle names aren’t that nice in my opinion either. But people think I’m crazy and I shouldn’t do it and that it’s a horrible name.

    I never like the my birth name either. I legally changed my first name about 3.5 years ago (around the same time you did). It was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I also posted a video about the story behind my name on my CZcams channel...would love it if you and everyone could check it out. Btw, I love the name Artemis. It fits you so well!

    I am Elena and I can't help but be slightly offended lol Wait, you are saying name Artemis has no deep ties with any ethnicity? It is first and foremost the name of a Greek goddess (Greek equivalent of Roman Goddess Diana) ! And most people (even a tiny bit educated at least) will associate it with the Greek goddess Artemis. So it has a Greek ethnographies-cultural connotation. Now people will mistakenly think you have greek roots instead oh hispanic ones.

    I couldn't help tearing up a bit... This whole story of you, trying to find yourself is quite touching to be honest. I mean the character, the similarities you two have, the meaning of the name she has, everything is so unique about this name and I'm so glad you finally found yourself! This doesn't happen always to everyone. I really am so happy for you. Good luck for the rest of your life and career with your new name!

      Yes, please! I'd love to hear what you decide to go with 😊
      And just a tip: A way I tested to see if I really liked Artemis was by asking close friends and family to refer to me by it. This helped me to get a feel for it and make sure it felt comfortable, which is really important 😊

    Artemis I really like your story andthe build up to the name reveal. Life's too short, if your new name gives you more confidence, I say go for it. Dolores is my artistic name, but I hope to change it legally one day. I've never connected with my given name, ever since I can remember. I've hated my given name since I was five. I find my new name empowering and it just makes me so happy.

Now you're inspiring me to legally change my name, too. So, anyway, hello Artemis. May you thrive with that name. (BTW, are you keeping House?)

    How did you become a actress/model? Do they call you to audition? I would of never guessed you were a D.C./Young Justice fan too. I hope your new name, Artemis, brings you happiness in your future. ☺️

    • @ArtemisOfficial
      @ArtemisOfficial  Před 6 lety

      Well I've modeled since I was around 4 because my mom was a model before I was born (and was even in a magazine while pregnant with me!) and around age 12, I started getting interested in acting! So I got an agent and acting classes and got started! 😊
      For auditions, you'll get an email (sometimes accompanied with a call) from your agent with all the details about the character, the storyline, and the scenes you need to memorize for the audition. Sometimes the casting director asked for you specifically because they remember you from a past audition, sometimes they just chose you from a list of actors from your agency (like I described in the video).
      I hope you have a wonderful 2018! ❤️

    Im also changing my name, i never really related to my current name tbh. My name used to be natasha from birth to about 6 years old. For some reason my parents never really told me they were changing it to Ravleen my current name. I subtly knew there was something going on but for some silly reason never approached me and was often a surprise. When they named me Ravleen, i was dissapointed because i just couldnt relate to it and it was abrupt. I knew of the name Sophie and really loved it and resonated best. My dad realized he shouldve named me that on the drive back home because he remembered how much i liked that name in general. For about 16-17 years ive had that name. But now i feel like this is not resonating to this day. Ive tried to like it but tbh idk it never felt in alignment with me. So i’ll be changing it to Sophie and im extremely excited. Also congrats on the beautiful name! ❤️

There were and still are a lot of things attached to it that I no longer wish to be carrying that's why I wanna change it and I started researching and ended up here. It's a beautiful unusual name. I love it. I am thinking to get another unusual name too. Hajaar is already unusual, especially for being in the Caribbean.
