- Join us for a look at our travel day(s) as we travel to Rome, Italy. Take a look at the hotel we chose for our first two days, the Hive Hotel, and see some great food options nearby. We'll also bring you along for a night-time tour of the Colosseum including the underground, as well as a night tour of the Vatican. We also made stops at the pantheon and the trevi fountain.
We flew SAS airlines to Rome and had SAS plus class which is their premium economy seating. We used the Leonardo express train from FCO airport to get to Roma Termini.

Rome is one of our most favorite cities and Odyssey is a spectacular ship. Definitely an amazing holiday.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experiences. We will be doing the same cruise later this year, what was the Black Car Service you guys used from your hotel to the Port?
Unfortunately; I don’t know the name of the company. We had reached out to the hotel we were staying at and they arranged for the service to take us to the port. They booked the transportation and all we had to do is be at the meeting point.
I contacted the hotels before we left for Rome and told them what transportation we needed and they had everything ready.

I live in New Jersey, so I think I will do a direct flight ✈️ from Newark!
Good idea there. The amount of time we spent in airports and planes on our travel day really wore us out. If you can take a direct flight do it. We learned from our mistakes and when we went to Barcelona in October we flew DFW to London and then London to Barcelona. Basically sorted flights by shortest total travel time.

We are doing the same trip in a few weeks. I’m trying to decide if we should bring euros or get them from an ATM when we get there. Any tips? And how much do we need? We plan to use credit cards as much as we can.
We went to our local bank and ordered Euros from them and had the euros in about a day. We had €500 for the trip and used them for the taxis, random tips, and some shops/restaurants that didn’t take credit cards. We have a travel card that has no foreign transaction fees so we used that for most everything else.
We got our euros from our local bank because you usually get a better exchange rate than at airports or currency exchange places. We’re always in the camp of prep and do things before the trip to make sure there isn’t any issues when you get there.

The Vatican Tour was called “VIP After-Hours Vatican Museum by night tour with Sistine Chapel” and the tour company was “What a Life Tours”
The colosseum tour was called “Explore the Colosseum at night After Dark Exclusively” and the tour company was “what’s in Italy tours”

No, when we were in Naples we went to Pompeii and then walked around the City of Naples. We didn’t have the time to go to Amalfi Coast, unfortunately.
